Probably the most boring reality TV show this season is the Republican debates. After the first three episodes, there wasn’t much new information, instead everyone listened for nuances or changed positions. I’m sure Rick Perry would love to remember them but he may have forgotten the third one. They have really been exercises in patience for the vast majority of the electorate because they have not focused on the real issues. Let’s have an honest debate between candidates not coached for soundbites and ridiculous policies designed to excite a base fed with a strictly red meat diet.
I propose that the candidates for Americans Elect hold a debate with the Buddy Roemer, Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, and Rocky Anderson. Let’s get the different parties and their views out there to enlighten the electorate and present valid choices. None of us should be afraid of putting our policies out in the open and getting people to judge them. I even have a proposed forum, TYT/Current TV.
Former VP Al Gore needs to build audience participation in his new venture and a debate hosted by Cenk Ugyer, Keith Olbermann, and a few other worthy parties could really present an informative moment for everyone as well as real entertainment. It might be nice listening to people who did not think US territory extended across the Mediterranean into Israel or that the only way to solve our deficit problems was through tax cuts.
I propose that we hold a webcast between the South Carolina primary and the one in Florida, another mid-February, and then one in mid-March after Super Tuesday. To further broaden the appeal, one of them could be held on the Real News and another on C-Span. Instead of soundbite answers, respondents could be held to a two-minute rule.
This is a year when we need to get a broader picture of whom the electorate can choose from and with the flexibility that the Internet offers, the debaters could simply skype into the event instead of traveling because in the end it is the substance that we want, not the entertainment.

Republicans are debating again tomorrow night. And once again, Americans will hear the standard regressive litany: government is bad, Medicare and Medicaid should be cut, “Obamacare” is killing the economy, undocumented immigrants are taking our jobs, the military should get more money, taxes should be lowered on corporations and the rich, and regulations should be gutted.
Four years ago the most widely-watched TV debate among Republican aspirants attracted 3.2 million viewers. This year it’s almost twice that number. And for every viewer assume a multiplier effect as he or she shares what’s heard with friends and family.
Americans are listening more intently this time around because they’re hurting and they want answers. But the answers they’re getting from Republican candidates – tripping over themselves trying to appeal to hard-core regressives – are the wrong ones.
The correct ones aren’t being aired.

In the event that the divisive Ahmadinejad were to be dropped and Mousavi became president, his 25-year-long battle with Khamenei can be expected to resume in earnest. That is a strong reason for Khamenei to fight hard to keep him out. But while the warring cousins differ sharply on social issues, there may be more room for an accommodation than many suspect.Iran protests: live

Obama has said he’ll move ‘’swiftly and boldly” to revive the US economy - setting a goal of 2.5 million new jobs in two years.
In his most detailed analysis of the economic challenges ahead since winning the Presidential election, Mr Obama said he also aimed to stop a spiral of falling prices.
The President elect is expected to choose Timothy Geithner, president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, as his Treasury Secretary.
There are also reports that Hillary Clinton, his rival for the Democratic Presidential nomination, has agreed to serve as Secretary of State.Obama has said he’ll move ‘’swiftly and boldly” to revive the... more

Former president Bill Clinton has agreed to several concessions requested by President-elect Barack Obama’s transition lawyers that could pave the way for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) to become the next secretary of state, including making public all donors to his foundation and clearing all of his future speeches and charitable activities with Obama administration officials, according to a Democratic source with direct knowledge of the negotiations.
But there continued to be some dispute about whether the job had been formally offered to Hillary Clinton. Although Obama did not formally offer her the position, aides to the president-elect said Wednesday, they said that it would be difficult for Clinton to now walk away from the secretary of state post. The aides said Obama’s staff has gone down the path of thoroughly vetting her and her husband with the understanding that, if he should make an official job offer, she would accept it. Another candidate for the post, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, emerged from his meeting with Obama last Friday under the impression that the job had not been filled, people familiar with that meeting said.
Clinton is mulling whether to take the post with her husband and close advisers, the source said, noting that becoming the nation’s top diplomat would be a major and career-changing decision for the former first lady. Of particular concern is how much influence Clinton would have in Obama’s White House, where she would compete for attention with other top foreign policy and national security advisers, said a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to speak candidly about the negotiations.Former president Bill Clinton has agreed to several concessions requested by... more

Armed with millions of e-mail addresses and a political operation that harnessed the Internet like no campaign before it, Barack Obama will enter the White House with the opportunity to create the first truly “wired” presidency.
Obama aides and allies are preparing a major expansion of the White House communications operation, enabling them to reach out directly to the supporters they have collected over 21 months without having to go through the mainstream media.
Just as John F. Kennedy mastered television as a medium for taking his message to the public, Obama is poised to transform the art of political communication once again, said Joe Trippi, a Democratic strategist who first helped integrate the Internet into campaigning four years ago.
“He’s going to be the first president to be connected in this way, directly, with millions of Americans,” Trippi said.
The nucleus of that effort is an e-mail database of more than 10 million supporters. The list is considered so valuable that the Obama camp briefly offered it as collateral during a cash-flow crunch late in the campaign, though it wound up never needing the loan, senior aides said. At least 3.1 million people on the list donated money to Obama.Armed with millions of e-mail addresses and a political operation that harnessed the... more

The pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greenville, SC, is urging parishioners who voted for Barack Obama not to present themselves for Communion unless they go to confession first because they have cooperated with “intrinsic evil” by voting for a candidate who supports abortion rights over a candidate who does not. The Rev. Jay Scott Newman told the Greenville News that he doesn’t intend to deny anyone Communion, but made it clear that his view is that Obama voters should not present themselves without seeking penance first “lest they eat and drink their own condemnation.”
Newman is the only priest in the U.S. known to have taken this position — the Catholic bishops met this week in Baltimore and this idea was not even discussed, at least in public session. Newman has posted on his parish web site the following letter explaining his rationale:The pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greenville, SC, is urging parishioners who... more

At least one of the more disconcerting leaks about Governor Sarah Palin turned out to be true.
Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, arrived in Phoenix, Arizona, on election night hoping to deliver her own concession speech. “It was a great speech,” Palin told Matt Lauer on the “Today” show on Tuesday.
Aides to her running mate, Senator John McCain, told her it was not customary for the No. 2 to speak, she said. "But, you know, I thought, even if it was unprecedented, so what, you know?" Palin told Lauer. "Geez, let's do something a little bit out of the box there."
And now she is. Unleashed and not humbled, Palin is on a speed date with history, upending protocol as she goes. She put herself on full display, in interviews with NBC and Fox News before McCain had a chance to take a no-victory lap on "The Tonight Show." And she has many more appearances scheduled throughout the week, including a star turn at the Republican Governors Association meeting in Miami on Thursday.
Palin could be turning to television to restore her tarnished image, jump-start a 2012 presidential bid, or both. But so far, viewers have mostly witnessed some of the very traits - disarming candor and staggering presumption - that drove some McCain campaign aides to leak damaging accusations about her.At least one of the more disconcerting leaks about Governor Sarah Palin turned out to... more

This is EXACTLY the kind of things that after I read it, gives me a shiver! What scares me is that they live among us, thinking these scary, crazy thoughts. I guess we should be thankful when they expose themselves with their senseless blather on forums.
I did not vote for Barack Obama, but I respect him, and will support his efforts to fix this country.
PLEASE read this. PLEASE post your comments here.
(The following was taken off a thread from another forum. I purposely chose not to “link” back to this forum/thread for several reasons)
DARKHAT: As an United States of America citizen I will show respect to President-elect Obama
more then the left did for President Bush …
Fact is Obama was elected President just because of his skin color and emotion, because Obama has zero experience to be elected by anything he’s done.
Fact is to many Americans fail to be able to comprehension the concerns about Obama anti american views and his ideas that will destroy the whole foundation of this great country. Obama’s socialistic desires comprise the centerpiece of his whole agenda are a clear and present danger to United States.
Then another member of the forum takes the bait and replies….
GFORCE: Your brain is obviously infected with FOX news. McCain is average and Palin is ignorant, unread, and inarticulate. They bragged about having a lock on the uneducated and low-information voters. Fortunately there are fewer and fewer and the population is getting more educated and/or thoughtful.
Losing Strategies/Moves:
The fundamentals of the economy are strong.
I mean, I was talking about…(out of my ass).
I have to cancel the debate and suspend my campaign.
I’m gonna fire an appointee that I have no authority to fire.
Sarah Palin is qualified. Wink, Wink, You betcha’.
You can see Russia from Alaska so I have foreign policy experience.
Putin rears his head where does he go? (I’m sure Putin is still laughing his ass off).
William Ayers, William Ayers, William Ayers.
Obama wants to teach Kindergarten kids all 12 sex positions and hardcore sex.
The Bush economy - worst in 80 years
6.5% unemployment-84,000 lost jobs in October
Joe the imaginary Plumber wants to buy a fantasy company and make 280K - He only makes 40k, Company grosses 150k.
Obama was elected because of his vision, ability, political skill and a smarter electorate.
Bush is a liar, murderer, and thief that manipulated his subjects with fear and propaganda (FOX NEWS)- as confessed by his former press secretary. No one had more experience in Washington than Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney. How did that go?
But thank God, many low information voters have had enough as well, and that put Obama over the top.
Of course DARKHAT MUST respond… it gets better!
DARKHAT: You I am sure think all police are killer to since you think our soldiers are killer too.
Strange why do you love the killer saddam hussein? He murder 100,000’s maybe even millions? Why do you attack Bush and yet
not the terrorist for killing people ?
Bill Clinton Bombed a country for months killing thousands did you call him a killer ?
War is war no one like it but it must be waged to protect us from evil …
Fox news lol don’t even watch it.
But you can be sure cnn is always worshiping Obama 99% of the rest of the tv news ..
Fact Obama was taught in a islam school until 4th grade,Fact he is friends with terrorist friends Ayers and Dohrn.Ayers just the other day stated me and Obama are great friends (after the election statement)
The day he was elect the Al-Qaeda and Hamas terrorist celebrated .
