Surely the ambitious LEGO masters of the world are always looking for a large scale project, if only to wow the common toy fans who would never think to embark on such an adventure. Howl's Moving Castle is among my very favorite animated films from Studio Ghibli, and one look at this recreation of the great castle simply takes my breath away.

You can see more pictures of it at the Imagine Brickstone Flickr, and marvel over its greatness (inside as well as outside!). I love the idea that LEGO can coexist as a functional toy for children and a deep source of inspiration for art for adults. You can't name too many toys that have successfully pulled that feat off!
The official opening cinematic for LEGO Rock Band looks a great deal like the opening cinematic for the original Rock Band, only with a distinctive LEGO twist.
Traveller's Tales does what they do best in this cinematic launch trailer, lampooning existing properties through gratuitous use of LEGO blocks. Why simply stop at a tour bus, when the whole of LEGO creation is at your fingertips?
Everybody loves a good lego story and here's one of the best I've seen for a while:
"After letting it sit around for about 3 years, [Blake] decided it was time to fix his broken 15″ television. A little trouble shooting showed the problem was with the inverter. The backlight would come on for a few seconds, off for a few seconds, then repeat.
By freeing the Magnavox 15MF400T from its metal case he got it working again, but couldn’t find the source of the short. His solution: build a new case out of non-conductive material. Voilà! We have the 15″ LEGO monitor."
The Danish company behind the ubiquitous brightly coloured building block toys released their latest product, the rebuildable Lego board games, in July.
They were invented by Cephas Howard, a British games designer. But his innovative plans were kept secret for three years, known only to six designers who worked in a high-security basement office in the Lego HQ in Billund, Denmark
Mr Howard says that the move to Lego was like joining a secretive Government agency.
He told The Mirror: “I’d just landed my dream job working for Lego but I had to swear not to tell a living soul.
“I couldn’t even tell my wife when I got home. I think she wondered if my Lego story was a front and I was actually working for the CIA.”
The bunker-like Concept Lab where Mr Howard works is run by director Flemming Ostergard. He says the security is necessary.
He said: “News travels fast in the toy industry.“The fear wasn’t that our competitors would create a better game, but that they’d create a worse one, so when we brought out our games kids would have been put off and wouldn’t buy ours either.”
The team originally came up with 300 different Lego board game concepts, but whittled it down to just 10. Since their release they have become one of the UK’s best-selling games and are on track to be this Christmas’s must-have toys. The Danish company behind the ubiquitous brightly coloured building block toys... more

"This two-story Lego palace, which resides in the middle of a vineyard, sports a working bathroom, and is covered inside and out with bricks pieced together by 272 Legos. Over three million bricks were used to build the Lego pad, so doing some quick math here — that's over 816 million Lego pieces! Sheesh. I wonder what they'll do with the Legos once James moves out?"
the fond memories i have with the small bricks makes me mad to see im never going to be the first person to live inside a house made of Lego's, but its good to see it can be done.
now... off to sabotage theirs and make my own.

Knowing that you built a cello made of LEGO and you can play it aswell, has to be one great personal achievement, well, artist Nathan Sawaya has done just that.
Using brown and black LEGO pieces and real-life strings, Sawaya -- whos speciality lies in creating art with LEGO -- succesfully made this life-size cello for hours of musical fun.
Now the greatest achievement would be to convince an instrumentalist to play it at next year's BBC Proms.Knowing that you built a cello made of LEGO and you can play it aswell, has to be one... more
The full size two-storey Lego house created by Top Gear presenter James May faces might have to be scrapped as plans to sell it to Legoland fell through
The house will be demolished on tomorrow if a new owner cannot be found in time. Top Gear's website has set up a Facebook page in an attempt to find a buyer.
Legoland now say it is too expensive for them to move the house to Windsor.
Bad news for the 1,000 volunteers who built it, maybe the £50,000 needed can be raised in time, but not sure even Lego can perform this feat. The full size two-storey Lego house created by Top Gear presenter James May faces... more

Lego have just sent me an email all about their new Lego fire station. It's clearly meant to be an American-style firehouse - the flag being a dead giveaway.
I believe this is the first time they've done one of these (usually their sets are more of a European style) - So is it just a coincidence that they're launching it now, in time for 9/11?

I guess you could build a house with practically any material. But I never thought you could actually build one from LEGO pieces. So James May, a toy fanatic from the UK surprised me, by building a real house from one of my favorite toys as a child.

LEGO has revolutionised the way we see art and design -- whoever thought that it would be possible to build a house out of small plastic blocks? Barnaby Gunning obviously did, that's why he has built a house out of LEGO bricks, after months of designing it.
Making the house must have been a serious challenge but living in it is a whole other story. To me that would be a challenge worth taking part in though.
