"LAKE IN THE HILLS – Citizens infected with a fictitious pneumonic plague will line up outside Lincoln Prairie Elementary School on Saturday to help test the site as a medication dispensary in case of an emergency.
The Lake in the Hills Police Department is carrying out the test as part of a grant from the McHenry County Department of Health for its emergency health plan. In case of a biological terrorist attack or widespread disease outbreak, the site would be able get medicine to the community, Lake in the Hills Chief of Patrol Services David Brey said.
“This is just a functional test of the site,” he said.
The event will use volunteers pretending to have been stricken by the plague to help test the flow of the site, from initial triage through receiving proof of being medicated.
“We picked the plague on purpose so it would have nothing to do with the swine flu,” Brey said.
The test will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln Prairie, 500 Harvest Gate, across from Lake in the Hills Village Hall."
Don't worry, it has nothing to do with swine flu. They are not turning schools into FEMA Camps. There will not be a police state. Your rights are in tact. We all know it’s a serious offence to waste police time, but try telling that to the woman who called officers to complain that her daughter had performed oral sex on her husband – and that the daughter was better at it.
Tehran, Iran (CNN) -- Protesters clashed with police at a central Tehran square on Wednesday while government supporters nearby marked the 30th anniversary of the U.S. Embassy capture with chants of "Death to America."
Scenes in the Iranian capital turned ugly yet again as riot police and pro-government Basij militia turned out in force to quash anti-government sentiment.
At least 2,000 opposition supporters, sternly warned by authorities to stay home, marched defiantly at Haft-e-Tir Square, witnesses said. Many held up their hands in a V sign. Others shouted "Allahu Akbar," or "God is great," a slogan of protest. Police blocked all roads leading to the square, prompting massive traffic jams.
Witnesses described helmet-clad security personnel beating demonstrators with batons and firing tear gas at Haft-e-Tir Square and in a neighborhood a few kilometers north.
"I had never seen that many riot police and security personnel," a witness told CNN. "They were brought in by the busloads. As soon as crowds gathered somewhere, riot police were there within minutes."http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/11/04/iran.hostage.protests/index.html?eref=rss_wor... more
DICKINSON, N.D. - Police say three missing North Dakota college softball players have been found dead in their vehicle.
Police say a dive team found nothing during a search of a North Dakota lake for signs of three missing college softball players .
Dickinson Police Lt. Dave Wallace said Tuesday that a search of a youth fishing area also found no trace of the Dickinson State University students.
The women are identified Kyrstin Gemar, 22, of San Diego; Afton Williamson, 20, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; and Ashley Neufeld, 21, of Brandon, Manitoba in Canada. The three were believed to be in a white 1997 Jeep Cherokee with California plates when they were last heard from late Sunday night.
Gemar's father has said his daughter and her teammates often went star gazing on Patterson lake, just southwest of Dickinson, about 60 miles east of the Montana state line.

A traffic stop involving a young officer and the son of a small-town mayor has the whole town talking. The mayor of Stockton tried to fire the officer for issuing his son a ticket.
Cpl. Joshua Rowell told KSL News he was just doing his job. He said he acted professionally when he wrote the driver a ticket and was shocked when he was suddenly asked to hand over his badge.
Rowell is a new member of the five-man Stockton police force. So, last Tuesday he didn't think twice about pulling over a driver in a small white car for avoiding a DUI stop.
The San Jose Police Department will be the first law enforcement agency in the country to use new ear-mounted video and audio recorders on the job this month, and police say they will provide a new window into arrests and other situations.
The portable AXON cameras, made by Taser International, are expected to be given to 72 San Jose officers in late November or early December, police said. The cameras can record an officer's point of view for up to 10 1/2 hours, and police say the devices will help officers write more accurate reports and aid officers if their actions are called in to question.

"Only council-vetted "play rangers" are now allowed to monitor youngsters in two adventure areas in Watford while parents must watch from outside a perimeter fence.
The Watford Borough Council policy has been attacked as insulting and a disgrace by furious relatives who say they are being labeled as potential pedophiles.
It will further fuel concerns over a growing nanny state amid the deepening row over the Government's new national anti-pedophile database.
That will see at least 11 million adults have to be vetted to work with children or vulnerable adults, including parents who give officials lifts to and from social or sports clubs.
Councillors in Watford claim they are only following Government guidelines and cannot allow adults to walk around playgrounds "unchecked". But Osfted dismissed the ban while parents branded it "a joke".
Play rangers currently patrol both parks – which are specifically for children aged five to 15 – and are fully qualified and have been cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau.
Parents already have to 'register' their child on arrival at the free playgrounds so staff have their contact details in the event of an accident.
But now only those who have been CRB vetted by the council can enter the sites, which are surrounded by six foot high steel and wooden fences.
Mother-of-five Marcella Bergin, 35, has been visiting with her three eldest children, Christy, 15, Seamus, 12, and Chloe, 11, for many years without any problems.
She said: "It's like they are branding all parents potential paedophiles which is disgraceful – 99 per cent of people are great parents and certainly not child abusers.
"They are encouraging a climate where parents and children are rendered suspicious without any proof of wrong doing or guilt," she said.
"Caring parents should not be viewed as a threat and if you are a bona fide parent or carer you are in a better position to look after your children than council staff."
A council notice to parents explains that: "Safeguarding the children and young people who use the site is one of our top priorities.
The Daily Telegraph disclosed on Tuesday how employers will come under pressure to register staff with the Government's anti-pedophile database even if they have little contact with children.
But a spokeswoman for Ofsted said: "Ofsted would never seek to prevent parents and carers having access to their own children."

After training for a few weeks Antonio gets his chance to join the performers in the company. He had recently mentioned to me that he would be interested in doing clowns, he usually worked as sort of an all purpose roadie. We trained some, but then an emergency came up, I was sick and nobody else was available so he got his chance. He was both nervous and excited. This is just one more example of the type of entertainment we provided for a tri-state area. Playful Entertainment Network aka American Dream Talent provided most of this type of entertainment for the area until we had a run in with corrupt local vice officers. We beat them each time in court but finally ran out of money. In early July 2008, three teenaged friends tormented a homeless man in a motel parking lot. They taunted, smacked, pushed, dragged, carried and yelled at the 54-year-old victim. As if that wasn’t enough, a fourth teen recorded the profanity-laced attack with his cell phone.
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives saw the two videos called “Beating Up a Crackhead,” parts one and two online. They discovered the recorded assault during their investigation of the April 2009 attack of two men, Craig Cohen and David Villanova, in Oakland Park. One of the teens in the video was once a suspect in the Cohen and Villanova beatings.
The first video lasts two minutes, 34 seconds, and the second lasts one minute, 14 seconds.
The apparently intoxicated and physically unstable Cunningham repeatedly asks his assailants to leave him alone. They continue to taunt him, laughing and joking during the attack, slapping him in the head, pushing him on the ground, grabbing his arms and legs and carrying him down Southeast 5th Street.
At one point, one assailant turns to the camera and says, “You got this?” His friend with the cell phone responds, “I got everything, bro.” Cunningham, who was not injured in the attack, never reported it to law enforcement.
Brandon Edwards and William Sleight have been arrested. Detectives are looking for Nicholas Bakum and are asking for the public’s help identifying the fourth person involved. On the video, he is wearing dark shorts and a dark hat with no shirt. In early July 2008, three teenaged friends tormented a homeless man in a motel parking... more
