Do You Want A Real Revolution?

Once upon a time democracies worked fine for small tribes consisting of a number of families. Everyone simply got together and raised their hand to be counted. Easy.
As populations grew, one could not hold massive public meetings for voting on every issue. So we developed a representative form of government, called a democratic republic. A person would be voted into office through democratic means and that person would cast a vote the Representative decided was best for their constituents.
However, Republican government is not the friend of democracy and the freedoms of the people. In the course of time, as Representatives come and go, a Representative of the people will be corrupted by wealth and power offered to them by the wealthy and powerful. When that happens the people slowly loose their political power and everything degenerates once again into a have and have-not society of surfs and Aristocracy. Once upon a time, starting about two hundred years ago, we believed that was the best we could ever do and ever hope for.
Today we have encryption technology. We have telephones and no pay phones that dial 911 without the need for money. We have computers, we have cell phones, we have TV and radio, newspapers, all of which informs us, all of which can be used in a system of voting.
Grandma does not own a computer or TV. Grandma turns her newspaper to the Voting Pages where each bill in the state legislature and federal government is described and a pro and con opinion given, plus suggestions for further research. The deadline for the vote is given; say ten minutes before the representative casts their vote yes or no. Grandma picks up her phone, dials the voter number given for each bill, and uses her code or codes and votes.
Tomorrow the newspaper will show the results and the voting record of the representative. In three days Grandma will receive a letter in the mail with her voter receipts, or she can opt for granddaughter to download her receipts off line and stay green. Grandma does a similar thing with her checks and bank transactions today.
Every state has the option to pass laws making every representative in state legislatures, and in the federal government, subject to automatic recall by democratic process and a triggered recall when 10% of those representatives’ votes do not reflect the electronic democratic votes cast by the people, THE BOSS! A hearing is set and depending on state law, the representative will be subject to immediate dismissal or even criminal prosecution.
Every state will be made accountable by responsible citizens on the local level, for setting up a system that is available to all eligible voters. In that way, cheating becomes a local issue forcing responsible citizens to get involved in the democratic process. Furthermore, it would force responsible citizens to get involved in politics at the state and federal level.
Electronic Democracy evens the playing field between the average citizen that votes about every two years for a corrupt or corruptible representative, and the wealthy that can vote as many times as they like out of there wallets to corrupt that representative. I ask you, who really has more political power in the US today, when it is one-person one vote, and one wealthy person numerous votes?
Be forewarned. The wealthy and powerful always bring out a BIG Scarecrow argument about democracies like those that I have described. They will say that crazy decisions are made by mobs of people with political power. They are correct if the average person ignores voting and let crazies run the government. However, that kind of mismanagement by the people is self-correcting. The moment some insane law is passed, the people will be forced to rise up and get involved. The more crazy laws pass, the more the rise of the people until real democracy and the power of the people is restored.
In the United States, we believe in and trust the people to make the right decisions if they exercise their power to vote. That is based on a belief that human beings as a species have the ability to routinely make the correct political decision if they exercise their political power. This is the entire bases of Democracy. If it is a wrong assumption about us, then democracy for Homo Sapien is an impossibility. I for one do not believe that. However, let us put it to the test.
We like to call the United States the great experiment in democracy. We can prove that the experiment is successful by using Electronic Democracy and forcing our elected representative employees to carry out the orders of their employers, the people of the United States of America.
The best thing about Electronic Democracy exercised on a state-by-state bases, it is not unconstitutional.
Note; lazy people can always vote in the general elections.
I do not have the computer ability to start the process. But someone reading this does. Set up sites that take the votes of the people in each state, on every issue before state legislatures and our federal congress. Prove that it can work using encryption and technologies I do not understand but I am sure readers do. The revolution will be held on the internet, you are invited to join. The best way to prove this is the way to restore our freedoms and our democracy is to just do it independently. Then show the people that it works.
Personally, I trust Al Gore and Current to make this happen. Maybe open a new tab and call it, Current the Democracy Project. But, if not, we can do it ourselves.

America is a Different Country in 2010

With two weeks to go in the unpredictable 2010 elections, many pundits have been left scratching their heads and admitting that they really have no idea how this election is going to turn out. Nate Silver, today's most careful analyst of election statistics and forecasting, examined a variety of indicators and concluded that there were more closely contested and hard-to-predict congressional races this election than ever before. The biggest reason for this uncertainty is that America's electorate is changing as fast as the country's demographic and generational characteristics are, challenging old assumptions about how politics works in America.

In 1965 the nation was 89% white and 11% black, about the same as it had been during the previous century. Since then, high levels of Asian and Latin immigration have produced an America today which is 66% white and 33% "people of color," a tripling of the minority population in only four decades. Remarkably, 10% of Americans are of Mexican descent and about 5% of the electorate speaks primarily Spanish. For the first time in US history a president of mixed race, who considers himself to be African-American, resides in the White House.

The second big demographic change is the emergence of the largest, most diverse generation in American history, one which will dominate the political and cultural life of 21st century America as much as the Boomers did in the late 20th century. The Millennial Generation, born from 1982-2003, is sometimes condescendingly referred to as the "youth vote," but it should be more accurately recognized as the biggest and most important new voting cohort in America. There are about 95 million Millennials, about half of whom are now of voting age. One out of four eligible voters in 2012 will come from this generation and more than one out of three voters will be Millennials in 2020.

Every two years the percentage of non-whites, along with Millennials, in the American electorate is increasing. Non-whites will grow from 33% of the population today to 50% by 2042. As these populations grow, a new political reality will take hold in areas altered by their increased participation, especially in the Southwest and coastal areas of the country. The power of these population shifts to upend conventional political wisdom was demonstrated by Barack Obama's victories over heavily favored establishment candidates in both the Democratic primary and the general election in 2008.

These demographic transformations are changing the political loyalties and beliefs of the American electorate. Democrats now have their largest lead in national party identification since the early 1960s. In the most recent Pew survey, only 15% of Americans claimed to be completely unaffiliated independent voters, while about half (48%) identify with the Democratic Party and 37% with the Republican Party. By contrast, in 1994, the last time in which a newly elected Democratic president faced a midterm election against an aroused GOP, the two parties were tied in party identification at 44% each. This Democratic advantage is due in large part to Millennials and Hispanics who identify as Democrats by a 2:1 margin over Republicans.

Survey data also shows that most Americans continue to favor using government to address their economic concerns and societal challenges. This summer, in a survey conducted for NDN, a clear majority (54% vs. 31%) of Americans favored a government that actively tries to solve societal and economic problems rather than one that takes a hands-off approach--numbers virtually unchanged since Barack Obama's inauguration. More recently, only 29% of those surveyed this fall told Pew they wanted all of the Bush-era tax cuts to remain in place, while a majority (57%) preferred either that those on the wealthy should be allowed to expire or that all of the Bush tax cuts should end. Forty percent of adults told an Associated Press survey they didn't think the new health care law went far enough, while only 20% felt the federal government shouldn't be involved in healthcare at all. These pro-government attitudes are likely to grow as more and more Millennials enter the electorate. By a 60% to 36% margin the generation favors a bigger government providing more services over a smaller government providing fewer services.

Rather than being surprised every two years by the changing politics of a nation altered by a rapidly changing demography, pundits would be wiser to anticipate that American politics is going to keep changing and evolving every two years, and will never again look like the politics of the 20th century. In the shorter run, the operative question in this year's midterm elections is the extent to which the major components of the 21st century American electorate make their presence felt at the polls in November. President Obama, who is concentrating his final campaigning efforts on college campuses and minority neighborhoods, clearly recognizes the challenge-but also the rare opportunity-presented by the 21st century electorate. His success in energizing these newest members of the Democratic Party's base will determine the still uncertain outcome of the midterm elections. But the longer term direction of American politics will clearly continue to be driven by the demographic and generational changes now sweeping the country.

Did Harry Reid Steal Nevada?

5 point margin of victory highly suspicious given pre-election polls showing Angle ahead, combined with reports of vote-flipping on machines controlled by Reid’s son and serviced by corrupt pro-Reid union.
A serious investigation into potential vote fraud needs to be launched immediately in Nevada, after incumbent Harry Reid beat Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle by a clear five points, despite pre-election polls showing Angle four points ahead, amidst suspicious evidence of vote flipping and other dirty tricks on behalf of the Reid campaign last week that were dubbed “criminal” by Angle’s campaign attorney.
Angle clearly had the momentum going into the election, having come from behind to take the lead over the Senate majority leader.
Four separate Rasmussen polls prior to the election had Angle ahead. Two weeks before Super Tuesday, she held a 50% to 47% lead over Reid. One week prior to voting, on October 26, her lead was extended to four points, with Angle at 49% and Reid at 45%.
The race was tight, but surveys clearly showed that Angle was gradually extending her lead as each week went by.
To have a nine point swing, from Angle enjoying a four point lead just a week before the election, to Reid winning the seat by a clear five points, is highly suspicious, especially given the chicanery that came to light just last week. Nine points is not within the margin of error for polls, especially those conducted by Rasmussen, which is considered to be one of if not the most credible polling agency.
When early voting started last week, reports out of Clark County, home to three quarters of Nevada residents, indicated that electronic voting machines were automatically checking Harry Reid’s name on the ballot.
The technicians that serviced those electronic voting machines were the pro-Reid SEIU (Service Employees International Union), the same corrupt union that was behind thousands of bogus voter registrations across the nation. The SEIU spent $44 million during this election cycle, nearly all of which went to Democrats.
“White House political director Patrick Gaspard is formerly the SEIU’s top lobbyist, and former SEIU president Andy Stern was the most frequent visitor to the White House last year,” adds the Gateway Pundit.
Furthermore, the county commissioner for Clark County is none other than Harry Reid’s son Rory.
In response to the allegations, as well as Reid’s offer of free food and gift cards for people who voted, a move some slammed as bribery, Angle campaign attorney Cleta Mitchell wrote in a fundraising letter that Reid intended to “steal this election if he can’t win it outright”.
“As a result, we need to deploy literally dozens of election law attorneys and poll watchers to combat these tactics at a cost of nearly $80,000,” wrote Mitchell, “That’s over and above our current budget. We need to raise $80,000 and we need to do it RIGHT NOW, because even as I am writing this, Harry Reid and his Machine are trying to steal this election,” adding that the Reid campaign was engaged in “dirty tricks and criminal tactics”.
“When the powerful are threatened, they will do anything to retain their position,” concluded Mitchell.
Where there’s smoke there’s fire – we have evidence of vote tampering before the election and low and behold, establishment candidate Reid manages to pull a 9 point turnaround to save his seat using the electronic voting machines controlled by his own son and serviced by corrupt union members loyal to him.
There clearly needs to be an urgent and thorough investigation into the Nevada vote to maintain the integrity of the entire election process.
The Angle campaign should immediately push for a full criminal investigation into potential vote fraud on behalf of Reid and his cronies.
