In an effort to keep people from posing as republicans to throw off the primary vote, Virginia is requiring republicans to sign an oath that they will vote for a republican in the November elections as well...
Call me an idealist, but I really thought you were supposed to approach elections with an open mind and without regard to party lines... I guess they would be equally pleased if democrats had to take an oath that they wouldn't change their minds and vote republican in November?

In "numerous" interviews with public sector workers, students and normal citizens, the Kermlin appears to be rigging Russia's vote by requiring workers to come in on their day off to vote in an effort to give Valdimir Putin and his United Russia party a huge victory. Workers have been threatened with losing their jobs, housing or bonuses, students with failing exams or being removed from courses if they don't vote for United Russia.
All this despite the fact that Putin enjoys genuine popular backing. Apparently, the big margin is desired so that Putin can essentially continue to serve as president from his role as National Leader since term limits prevent him from retaining the presidency.
Why even bother with a vote? Can't you just say people voted however you're forcing them to vote and save everyone the time and trouble?...In "numerous" interviews with public sector workers, students and normal... more

The min-α (min-alpha) Choice Function:
Voter Priority-based Resolution of Condorcet?s Dilemma
Joseph Durham and Peter Lindener
joey.durham (at) gmail.com
lindener.peter (at) gmail.com
Abstract: This paper proposes a social choice voting system that can evaluate genuine consensus. In 1785, Condorcet discovered serious obstacles to this goal; in 1951, Arrow?s impossibility theorem further clarified their nature. We offer an approach that unifies the tallying methods of Condorcet and Borda, modified to take real-valued preference ballots as input. The proposed ?min-α? (min-alpha) choice function is a hybrid method that maximizes the influence of each voter?s preferences while still yielding a unique outcome. When it is necessary to resolve the ambiguity of coinciding cyclical majorities, the min-α choice function employs an adaptive linear perspective of voter priorities as a basis for compromise. This method also minimizes the outcome?s dependence on less-relevant alternatives, thereby mitigating the need for speculative voting strategies. The development of such tools for consensus evaluation may be a step toward more congenial and congruous group decision-making.

I remember this video popping up a few months back. It gained a little exposure and then the beat of the drum continued and people marched on....
With so much information around it's sometimes a good idea to look back to things that have already come to light. It is a video of a testimony given by a man named Clinton Eugene Kurtis who explains how he was approached by members of the republican party to design software that would flip a vote one way or another.
Has anyone seen this before?I remember this video popping up a few months back. It gained a little exposure and... more
