Modern Lady Erin Gibson presents her desperate search for the ultimate sexy, dare I say slutty, Halloween costume in front of a live studio audience. And you won't believe what she settles on. Hide the kids.
For good reason, no woman has ever had the balls, moxie or delusion to claim the title of "the world's premiere basic cable expert on lady stuff."
Until now.
Meet Erin Gibson. She's freakishly tall, sort of smart, and willing to do just about anything to get a bemused chuckle.
Her segment, Modern Lady, on infoMania, is dedicated to reporting and commenting on what's happening on Planet Lady.*

When the war in Afghanistan kicked off, the U.S. military only had a handful of drones or unmanned weapons on the battlefield. Now it’s one of the military’s main concerns as they race to outdo the competition developing innovative robots that do the dirty work. Technology is always changing and here’s a look at some of the recent developments in unmanned warfare that’s making its way to a war zone.
1. Micro aerial vehicles. Measuring just 13 inches, micro air vehicles are small, but not too small, allowing them to photograph large areas and bring back the footage. The first version created by Honeywell is a bit noisier than military would like and they’re creating a second generation model that will bring back better images and even less detectable sometime next year.
2. The X-47B. This is an amazing unmanned aerial vehicle that seems to be straight from the movies. The X-47B is more along the lines of what the future of unmanned warfare will look like, with unmanned vehicles able to carry out missions because they’re equipped with weapons. This one carries up to 4,500 pounds of weapons, making it a deadly weapon that will float around and strike (hopefully) at the right time.
3. Robosoldiers. While the U.S. focuses on unmanned planes, Israel is fixated on the robosolider. They’re combining what they already know about UAVs and implementing “see-shoot” robotic soldiers that are actually trained by military officials in closed quarters. Israel’s ultimate plan is to have the Israel-Gaza border be the first border manned by these robosoldiers.
4. Flying saucers. The Department of Defense claims these smaller UAVs will be optimal during warfare in urban areas. They’re smaller than most aerial UAVs and cost less to produce. It’s battery powered and there are versions being made all over the world, but only prototypes have been tested. Will flying saucers ever make it to actual battle? Maybe, but it seems other models are outdoing the progress made with saucers.

JERUSALEM - A YouTube video showing a dancing Israeli soldier shimmying near a bound and blindfolded Palestinian woman went viral on the Internet this week, embarrassing the Israeli military and fueling fresh debate about morals and accountability in the armed forces.
The army's chief legal officer ordered a military police investigation of the clip, which was posted two years ago but publicized this week on an Israeli television program. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued an emphatic condemnation.
"The Israel Defense Forces is one of the most moral armies in the world," Netanyahu said in a statement. "Humiliation of prisoners and detainees is not the way of the State of Israel, nor that of the Jewish people."

Washington (CNN) -- The Department of Defense recently purchased and destroyed thousands of copies of an Army Reserve officer's memoir in an effort to safeguard state secrets, a spokeswoman said Saturday.
"DoD decided to purchase copies of the first printing because they contained information which could cause damage to national security," Pentagon spokeswoman Lt. Col. April Cunningham said.
In a statement to CNN, Cunningham said defense officials observed the September 20 destruction of about 9,500 copies of Army Reserve Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer's new memoir "Operation Dark Heart."
Shaffer says he was notified Friday about the Pentagon's purchase.
"The whole premise smacks of retaliation," Shaffer told CNN on Saturday. "Someone buying 10,000 books to suppress a story in this digital age is ludicrous."
Shaffer's publisher, St. Martin's Press, released a second printing of the book that it said had incorporated some changes the government had sought "while redacting other text he (Shaffer) was told was classified."
From single words and names to entire paragraphs, blacked out lines appear throughout the book's 299 pages.

Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer was a member of "Able Danger" a group on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden years before 9/11. Problem is, they found him numerous times and were told to stand down. Unlike Pat Tillman, they weren't able to kill him before blowing the whistle, just censoring his book. Definitely listen to some interviews of his; I'll post one in the comments below.Washington (CNN) -- The Department of Defense recently purchased and destroyed... more

It looks like the cross between a small tank, a Segway and a skateboard.
But this odd-looking contraption is being touted as the next must-have vehicle for U.S. soldiers in warzones.
The DTV Shredder can handle any kind of terrain at high speed and its low centre of gravity ‘makes it ideal for reconnaissance, rescue/recovery, mobile surveillance, and medical evacuation operations’, it is claimed.
Created by Canadian technology firm BOG Werks, the DTV Shredder was presented as a ‘first response modular platform' for soldiers at a Military Vehicles conference in Detroit last month.
It is unclear whether any U.S. Army representatives at the show were sufficiently impressed to buy any of the vehicles.
According to the manufacturer the DTV is customisable and its configuration can be adapted depending on how it being used. There is also an option for equipping it with machine-guns and other weapons to turn it into a formidable attack vehicle.
It can even operated remotely, allowing it to be sent on reconnaissance missions where it would be too dangerous to send soldiers.
It is powered by a Honda 200cc engine which generates just 15 horse power and is capable of travelling at more than 30mph, it is claimed.
It can travel up slopes of 40 degrees and has a turning radius of four feet.
It is even able to tow small trailers behind it and can carry a payload of up to 1200lb, including rider.
It was developed by Ben Gulak, a student at M.I.T, who is most famous for his invention the Uno motorbike, which had two wheels side by side.

So the U.S. military has officially banned sales of the newest Medal of Honor game on military bases globally. Even Britain’s Defense Secretary requested that UK game retailers ban the game. Why, you may ask? Well, the game allows players to take on the role of the Taliban, but only during multiplayer. It’s not like the “No Russian” level from Modern Warfare 2, where you’re gunning down civilians in an airport. I would definitely understand if you play as the Taliban in single player and are killing U.S. and Coalition forces, but in this case, you’re not.
I ask this: “What is the real reason why people are angered over having the Taliban as a playable option?” As history shows, there have been many games allowing players to take on the roles of some not so popular factions. I believe a major cause of the controversy is from it being time-sensitive related. What I mean by that is that there hasn’t been time for the dust to settle on the constant war against the Taliban. With that said, is it more acceptable to play as a German in a World War II game than as a Taliban in a modern combat game because the war is still ongoing?

Seven years after his predecessor declared an end to major combat operations, Barack Obama, US president, withdrew the last American combat unit from Iraq last week. US forces leave behind a broken country. The original sins of the Iraq war – wishful thinking dressed up as intelligence and botched post-invasion planning – were visited on the innocent. Iraqis suffered a paroxysm of sectarian violence that the world’s supposed superpower was too blind to foresee and too weak to forestall.
The 2007 troop surge was a factor in improving security, which remains threadbare. But the main significance of the surge was symbolic. So it is with the current withdrawal. US combat forces had already pulled out of urban areas, where most of the fighting has taken place, and 50,000 US soldiers will remain in Iraq. The symbolism does more for US than Iraqi morale. Throughout its ranks, the new Iraqi army worries loudly about its ability to stop violence from rising without US help.
The reality is that the political space the surge was meant to open up created a vacuum that remains unfilled. Iraq’s elections are the Arab world’s freest, but nearly six months on from the last polls politicians have still not managed to form a new government. And not only the state, but Iraqi society is broken. One in six Iraqis, disproportionately middle-class professionals, have fled their homes, around half for other countries.
This is the result of two neoconservative conceits: that shock and awe made an extended presence of large troop numbers superfluous; and that liberal-democratic states spontaneously spring up where old institutions are razed even if new ones are not built.
Beyond human suffering, the collateral damage includes America’s stature. Humiliated in Iraq, the US is less feared by enemies and less loved by friends. Another casualty was the case for liberal interventionism. Though the US rid Iraq of Saddam’s tyranny, the incompetence with which it did so makes it harder to defend future military action even when the cause is just.
In a better world, the US would stay to fix what it broke. As it has proved itself incapable of that, a slow withdrawal is the least bad option. A brighter Iraqi future now depends on two unlikely things. A regional modus vivendi must be found that lets Iraq prosper and does not turn it into Tehran and Riyadh’s battling ground; and Iraqi leaders must stop the politics of spoil-splitting, and work to make the country attractive to the professional class – Iraq’s true wealth.

@huffingtonpost: Blackwater vs. Pinkwater: The Wife of Erik Prince Picks a Fight With CODEPINK http://huff.to/8YUjhz
It felt surreal to be inside the home of Erik Prince, the founder, owner and chairman of Blackwater (or Xe, as it is now called). Prince, a former Navy Seal, provides security for the CIA, the Pentagon and the State Department. His company trains 40,000 people a year in skills that include personal protection. Yet his home in McLean, Virginia, has no security. None. Not even a fence or a guard dog or a No Trespassing sign. And his mother-in-law, who helps care for his young children, invited a total stranger -- me -- into his home without hesitation.
I had gone to Prince's home, together with two CODEPINK colleagues, assuming it would be empty. I'd read in the New York Times that Mr. Prince and his family had moved out of the country, fleeing from a series of civil lawsuits, criminal charges and Congressional investigations stemming from his company's contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the news, "In documents filed last week in a civil lawsuit brought by former Blackwater employees accusing Mr. Prince of defrauding the government, Mr. Prince sought to avoid giving a deposition by stating that he had moved to Abu Dhabi [which is in the United Arab Emirates] in time for his children to enter school there on August 15." Susan Burke, the lawyer seeking the deposition, announced that she was flying to the Emirates to find him.
I had been feeling particularly upset about Blackwater lately. Seeing the combat troops leaving Iraq, I'd been thinking about the banner CODEPINK members held in countless anti-war vigils: "Iraq War: Who Lies? Who Dies? Who Pays? Who Profits?" Politicians lied about weapons of mass destruction, Iraqis and American soldiers died, U.S. taxpayers paid, and companies like Blackwater make a killing. In just a few years, Blackwater received over $1 billion in U.S. government contracts, contracts that accounted for 90 percent of its revenue. Erik Prince, the company's sole owner, was now taking his profits, trying to sell the company and running away to the Emirates, a country that has no extradition treaty with the United States.
So we decided to make a symbolic gesture of visiting his home in McLean to bid good riddance to bad rubbish. On Friday, August 20, five days after the Prince children were supposed to be starting their new lives as schoolchildren in the Emirates, we MapQuested the old McLean home and drove there, ready to take a photo with our "Adios Diablo Prince" sign and leave.
But when we got there, to our surprise we could see through the window that the house was full of people and furniture. There were no moving boxes, no empty rooms. Could the new owners have settled in so quickly? Curious, I rang the doorbell and before I knew it, I was invited in and found myself inside the living room with a bunch of young children and several adults, who turned out to be grandma, grandpa and wife Joanna Prince.
The rest happened very quickly. Joanna asked who I was and why I was there. I asked the same questions: Was this the Prince family and if so, why weren't they in Abu Dhabi? She freaked, told the grandparents to call the police, and she pushed me out the door.
We hung around outside waiting for the police. We wanted to assure them that there was no problem -- that I had indeed been invited inside and left when asked to leave. In the meantime, I wrote a letter to Erik.
Dear Erik Prince,
On behalf of U.S. taxpayers, we say "Shame on You." Through your company Blackwater, or Xe as you now like to call it, you made -- or should I say stole? -- hundreds of millions of dollars and your employees also killed innocent civilians in Iraq. You should be held responsible. Don't run away to the Emirates to escape prosecution. Stay here in the USA and face the consequences of your actions, like a good Christian.
Sincerely,
Pinkwater
When the police arrived, Joanna Prince lied and said I'd been told to leave the house and refused. I was arrested, charged with trespassing, held for 5 hours and forced to pay $500 in bail. I have to appear in court on September 28. So does Joanna Prince. Will she show up in court or will she -- like her husband -- run away to Abu Dhabi? Will the court subpoena her to appear? Will her husband, a man who shuns publicity, tell her that she is crazy to pick a public fight with CODEPINK (or Pinkwater, as we now call ourselves) and make her drop the charges? Will I be able to sue her for false arrest?
Stay tuned for round two of Xe (formerly Blackwater) vs. Pinkwater (formerly CODEPINK). You can see the video of this episode above.
