First I must say; Former Secretary of State Colin Powell is one class act.
I have always admired him as an outstanding American and political leader. When he finally sided with Bush on the Iraq war I was greatly disappointed. His shine and luster for me took a nose dive. As time passed, it seemed he became aware of how he had been duped. George Bush, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and the rest of their Gestapo cronies were literally causing a form of metastasizing of the Constitution and our great nation. At that point he decided to step down as his integrity finally got the best of him. I hated to see him go; however, I felt extreme admiration for Colin when he could no longer align or associate himself with the Bush Regime.

As many of you probably know by now, Colin Powell has finally decided to endorse Barack Obama. The following link is of his endorsement and his reasoning as to why he chose him.

He has taken a fair length of time to do his vetting on both candidates. In spite of his lengthy, 20+ year friendship and association with John McCain, Colin Powell has opted to side with Barack Obama and endorse him to be the most promising candidate for President of the United States. This literally speaks volumes and as a nation the choice should now be clear. Colin Powell has a tremendous list of credentials backing him with regards to his service for the United States. Freddie Mac, AIG, JPMorgan Helped Stage Republican Convention

Freddie Mac and American International Group Inc., two companies bailed out by the U.S. government as the financial crisis unfolded, each contributed $250,000 for last month's Republican National Convention, Federal Election Commission filings show.

The money went to the local host committee for the convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, which raised $50 million. The committees can accept unlimited amounts from corporations, unions and individuals. While the donors' names were posted on the committee's Web site, the amounts they gave were not released until the FEC reports. The host committee for the Democratic National Convention in Denver has yet to file.

The U.S. government took over McLean, Virginia-based Freddie and Washington-based Fannie Mae last month, saying that a rise in mortgage defaults threatened the two companies. That same month, federal officials took control of New York-based AIG in exchange for an $85 billion loan to prevent the bankruptcy of the nation's biggest insurer.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley, New York investment banks that changed to bank holding companies and therefore put themselves under increased federal regulation, also contributed money for the Republican convention. Goldman Sachs gave $255,000, and Morgan Stanley donated $100,000. New York-based JPMorgan Chase & Co., which bought Bear Stearns Cos., contributed $100,000.

Target, Qwest, Best Buy

The largest corporate donors to the host committee were Minneapolis-based Target Corp., which gave $3 million; Denver- based Qwest Communications International Inc., with $2.9 million; and Richfield, Minnesota-based Best Buy Co. Inc., with $2.7 million.

Other big corporate givers included San Jose, California- based Cisco Systems Inc., $1.8 million; Minnetonka, Minnesota- based UnitedHealth Group Inc., $1.5 million; San Antonio-based AT&T Inc., $1.4 million; and Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft Corp., $1.3 million.

New York Jets owner Robert Johnson IV, who has raised more than $500,000 for Republican presidential nominee John McCain's campaign, contributed $500,000. The host committee also received $25,000 from the Saginaw Chippewa, an Indian tribe formerly represented by ex-Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who is now in prison. The Senate Indian Affairs Committee, then chaired by McCain, a senator from Arizona, held a series of hearings on Abramoff's representation of Indian tribes. McCain Slams New York Times

JOHN McCain's presidential campaign blasted the New York Times today for an "unprecedented attack" on his wife, as both Republican and Democratic teams exchanged barbs over voter fraud allegations ahead of the November 4 election.

The paper's profile of Cindy McCain delves into the background of the millionaire beer heiress, married to the Republican Arizona senator for more than 30 years.

McCain's campaign fired back immediately, describing the profile as "gutter journalism at its worst'' and a "barrage of petty and personal attacks''.

The article noted the candidate's spouse had a role in the Keating Five savings-and-loan scandal, she "endured several miscarriages alone'' while her husband worked in Washington, and she was "caught stealing drugs from her nonprofit organisation to feed her addiction to painkillers''.

The article is a "black mark on the record of a paper that was once widely respected, but is now little more than a propaganda organ for the Democratic party,'' McCain's campaign said.

"The New York Times has stooped lower than this campaign ever imagined possible in an attempt to discredit a woman whose only apparent sin is being married to the man that would oppose that paper's preferred candidate, (Democrat) Barack Obama.''

Cindy McCain, 54, is the chairwoman of Hensley & Company, Arizona's foremost beer distribution company worth an estimated tens of millions of dollars.

In a confession to Newsweek magazine she admitted drug use in the wake of the Keating scandal that rocked Washington in the late 1980s, in which she was the sole Senate spouse to be implicated.

"The pills made me feel euphoric and free,'' she wrote in an essay.

Cindy McCain has been drafted into her husband's campaign in recent weeks and was due to tour Pennsylvania by bus this weekend in a bid to stem McCain's slide in the polls against his Democratic rival.

Meanwhile Obama's campaign accused Republicans of using a false crusade against voter fraud to suppress legitimate votes.

The Obama campaign's top lawyer, Bob Bauer, accused Republicans yesterday of recklessly "plotting'' to suppress legitimate votes and to "sow confusion and harass voters and complicate the process for millions of Americans''.

Keating economics: John McCain and the making of a financial crisis

What about McCain's Keating 5 involvement? Fraud through deregulation which is exactly what McCain is calling for now, more deregulation!

He of all people should understand that deregulation only allows those less than honest and ethical businessmen to take advantage of the system.. that's what the whole Keating scandal was about! And it cost the public BILLIONS of dollars and countless job losses and bankruptcies.

It's likely part of McCain's previous deregulations that have led to our current financial crisis. More firms failing while the CEOs and other big wigs walk away with hundreds of millions in their personal accounts.

Why isn't more attention being brought to the Keating scandal?

And McCain and Palin keep pointing at Obama's supposed connection with William Ayers... What about McCain's close ties with Gordon Liddy??

McCain thinks he can defend his relationship with Liddy cause he's 'open' about it. Yet Obama has disclosed that his ties with Ayers are not as close as McCain keeps insisting they are, he served on a committee with him years ago along with other important people, dems and republicans, and he's now and influential college professor, that's about it. COME ON MCCAIN!! We can all see through your bullshit!!

And what's this crap about McCain's campaign conducting automated calls that blatantly slander Obama by twisting the facts about Ayers (and do so in a possibly illegal manner)?? McCain even said he was no longer going to continue his slander campaign and start talking about the issues... maybe he doesn't connect the actions of his campaign with himself??? Obama should punch McCain in the gut over his ties with people like Libby and the whole Keating 5 scandal. I can't believe Obama has been able to hold back.
