Ecuador has also mobilised troops after the cross-border raid on Saturday with the Venezuelan Defence Minister Gustavo Rangel after his country 'was bombed' that troops were 'ready to defend the sacred sovereignty of the homeland.'

The Colombian President Alvaro Uribe has said today that he is to denounce Venezuela's Hugo Chavez in an international court after Venezuela and Ecuador both cut diplomatic ties with Bogota, which was followed by their troops being ordered to their neighbour's frontier.
Both Chavez and Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa have been accused as having allegiances with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia or FARC guerrillas by Colombia, accusations that were triggered by a Colombian raid that killed a top guerilla boss.
The Colombian President spoke out on his country's actions, saying:

Venezuela and Ecuador ordered troops to their borders with Colombia, sharply raising tensions after Colombia killed a top rebel leader on Ecuadorean soil.
President Hugo Chavez on Sunday promised Venezuela would respond militarily if Colombia violates its border, where he ordered tanks as well as thousands of troops. He also ordered closed Venezuela's embassy in Bogota.
Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa said he deployed troops to the border while also withdrawing his government's ambassador from Bogota and expelling Colombia's top diplomat.
"There is no justification," Correa said Sunday night, snubbing an earlier announcement from Colombia that it would apologize for the military incursion.
Chavez called the killing of rebel leader and spokesman Raul Reyes and 16 other guerrillas on Saturday an attack by a "terrorist state," saying it shows Colombian President Alvaro Uribe is a "criminal." Venezuela and Ecuador ordered troops to their borders with Colombia, sharply raising... more
The diplomatic spat between Colombia and its neighbours has deepened, as Venezuela ordered the immediate removal of Colombia's ambassador and embassy officials from Caracas. This followed Ecuador's move that cut off diplomatic ties with Colombia after a raid on a FARC rebel base inside Ecuador which left FARC leader Paul Reyes and several others dead. Venezuela and Ecuador have had their tanks in position on the Colombian border since the raid.
The tensions were sparked when a Colombia reportedly found documents in a rebel camp that showed Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez as donating $300 million to FARC and also tied Ecuador's president Rafael Correa with Paul Reyes. Both countries feel that Colombia's raid on foreign soil was unjust and a violation of Ecuador's sovereignty.
With that being said, do you think that Chavez should get involved in what some might see as an issue involving only Colombia and Ecuador? The diplomatic spat between Colombia and its neighbours has deepened, as Venezuela... more
"Scientists at the University of Southern California have extended the lifespan of yeast bacteria tenfold -- and the recipe they used to do it might easily translate into humans. It involves tinkering with two genes, and cutting down your calorie intake. Tests have already started on people in Ecuador."
But does anyone else find it odd that Ecuadorians are apparently one step up from bacteria in terms of subjects for science projects?"Scientists at the University of Southern California have extended the lifespan... more
Ecuadorian Cofan Indians are suing Chevron for the destruction of the Amazon River, and the jungle their ancestors inhabited for thousands of years. Cancer and other oil related diseases plague the Cofan Indians, diseases that were not as prevalent before Chevron traded land for cheese in the early 1970s. Hundreds of oil pits interrupt the jungle floor while Cofan children unwittingly swim in them.
The Cofans suit will likely become an international foreign affairs extravaganza. Chevron has powerful friends in Washington. Condoleezza Rice served on Chevron's board for 10 years. They named an oil tanker after her. Ecuador on the other hand, has strong political ties with Venezuela and Hugo Chavez. Together they told the United States to remove it's military base from Ecuador.
Meanwhile, the Cofans must prove the increased rate of Cancer is caused by Chevron. A task that should not be too hard based on the riveting images in this Democracy Now! video report.

In Barcelona, Spain, 21 year-old Sergi Xavier Martinez Martinez assaulted a 16 year-old Ecuadorian girl on the metro. As Martinez gets on the bus he is having a conversation on his cell phone about his hate for immigrants. He proceeds to yell derogatory, racial epithets based on her perceived immigration status. She gets up to call the emergency telephone number 112.
Police have found the man, who denies doing it intentionally, saying he was drunk. The girl is afraid to even leave her home.
Racism and anti-immigrant sentiment go hand-in-hand in Spain, but these images speak louder than any past acounts of hate.
