The Archbishop of Canterbury and the Pope agreed to seek closer relations between Anglicans and Catholics at a meeting in Rome, the Vatican has said.
It follows tensions over the Vatican's offer to welcome disenchanted Anglicans into the Catholic fold.
Pope Benedict's proposal would allow Anglicans to convert while preserving many of their traditions and practices.
A Vatican statement said the "cordial" talks reiterated "the shared will" to move toward closer relations.
It said the discussions, which lasted around half an hour, "also focused on recent events between the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion."
Can't have a 1 World Gov't without a 1 World Religion. For those who don't know, the Archbishop of Canterbury is basically the Pope of all Anglican religions: Baptists, Evangelicals, Protestants, etc. But, the Archbishop is still subservient to the Pope in terms of the Christian hierarchy of Apostolic succession.
The difference between the two is like comparing Coke and Pepsi: drink either and you'll end up obese. All the supposed differences are just an act, window dressing that establishes divisions between, when ultimately they are working together to Christianize the world and restore the Holy Roman Empire.
See, the Vatican accepts that it no longer requires direct worship. If you believe through the subordinate sects, cults or religions, you eventually go up the chain to the Pope anyway, so its all good to them.
The Church also promotes Atheism, believe it or not, b/c if you don't believe in God, who do you follow?..the gov't, who is owned by the Church anyway. They also promote a false Big Bang Theory of science, which is in fact, a scientific interpretation of the Virgin Mary. The con is that the Big Bang is a lie and not real science. So, they get us from all sides.

The Vatican has hosted a conference to study the possibility of alien life in the universe and its implication for the Catholic Church.
The study was part of events marking the UN-designated International Year of Astronomy.
The Rev Jose Gabriel Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory, said "the questions of life's origins and of whether life exists elsewhere in the universe are very suitable and deserve serious consideration".
He presented the results of a five-day conference that gathered astronomers, physicists, biologists and other experts to discuss the budding field of astrobiology - the study of the origin of life and its existence elsewhere in the cosmos.
Funes said the possibility of alien life raises "many philosophical and theological implications" but added that the gathering was mainly focused on the scientific perspective and how different disciplines can be used to explore the issue.
Chris Impey, an astronomy professor at the University of Arizona, said it was appropriate that the Vatican would host such a meeting.
"Both science and religion posit life as a special outcome of a vast and mostly inhospitable universe," he said.
"There is a rich middle ground for dialogue between the practitioners of astrobiology and those who seek to understand the meaning of our existence in a biological universe."
Thirty scientists, including non-Catholics, from the US, France, Britain, Switzerland, Italy and Chile attended the conference, called to explore among other issues "whether sentient life forms exist on other worlds."
This is not the first time the Vatican has explored the issue of extraterrestrials. In 2005, its observatory brought together top researchers in the field for similar discussions.
In the interview last year, Funes told Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano that believing the universe may host aliens, even intelligent ones, does not contradict a faith in God.
He said: "How can we rule out that life may have developed elsewhere.
"Just as there is a multitude of creatures on Earth, there could be other beings, even intelligent ones, created by God. This does not contradict our faith, because we cannot put limits on God's creative freedom."
"VATICAN CITY - E.T. phone Rome. Four hundred years after it locked up Galileo for challenging the view that the Earth was the center of the universe, the Vatican has called in experts to study the possibility of extraterrestrial alien life and its implication for the Catholic Church.
"The questions of life's origins and of whether life exists elsewhere in the universe are very suitable and deserve serious consideration," said the Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, an astronomer and director of the Vatican Observatory.
Funes, a Jesuit priest, presented the results Tuesday of a five-day conference that gathered astronomers, physicists, biologists and other experts to discuss the budding field of astrobiology — the study of the origin of life and its existence elsewhere in the cosmos.
Funes said the possibility of alien life raises "many philosophical and theological implications" but added that the gathering was mainly focused on the scientific perspective and how different disciplines can be used to explore the issue."
The Vatican created the "Big Bang Theory" to mimic the story of the Virgin Mary. It is a complete lie, just like Black Holes and Al Gore's cult of Global Warming.
For thousands of years ancient people have been charting the heavens with precision. They always knew the Earth was round from seeing the Earth's shadow on the moon during lunar eclipses, which they knew when were going to happen. They even had accurate dimensions of the Earth from mathematical computations on the angles of the horizon.
The Vatican has one of the biggest observatories in the world. If you think the Church doesn't know science, you are sadly mistaken. They told the people the Earth was flat back then and they're telling us the the Big Bang myth today. What they know and what they tell are two different stories...NASA too.

"ROME, Italy (CNN) -- The Vatican said Tuesday it has worked out a way for groups of Anglicans who are dissatisfied with their faith to join the Catholic Church.
The process will allow groups of Anglicans, including bishops and married priests, to join the Catholic Church some 450 years after King Henry VIII broke from Rome and created the Church of England."
People shouldn't forget, but probably should remember that in the year 1213, King John I ceded Great Britain to the Pope. Now, very quietly they are taking it back. Can't have a 1 world government without a 1 world religion.
People really need to learn about the the Holy Roman Empire, Archbishop of Canterbury, apostolic succession, the so-called Dark Ages, and feudalism. There is no indication that these people will ever stop until they control the world. I've read the texts; you can too.

Rather than take active measures to prevent the "1.5-5%" of clergymen sexual abusing the next generation, the Vatican insists that it's not ACTUALLY pedophillia. Nope, it's just having sex with little boy. VERY different.
And the typical line: trying to shift the blame and attention by whining like a 5 year old child (who may or may not have been sexually abused) and pointing fingers at other religions in a sad attempt to make us forget about all the psychological and physical trauma this church has inflicted upon it's followers.
And I was under the impression that this was the religion that insists on not pointing out sawdust in someone elses eye when you have a plank in your own. God save us allRather than take active measures to prevent the "1.5-5%" of clergymen sexual abusing... more
It can't be easy covering a speech by The Pope when you're a massive American TV channel with ratings to smash. The Pontiff wheezing about using condoms isn't likely to bring the viewers in unless... look! A spider's crawling up his arm! Scoop!
Rather than just run the footage by itself, an over-excited CNN opted to splice in YouTube clips of kids dancing along to Itsy Bitsy spider and Obama swatting flies out of the air. In their defence, even The Vatican got caught up in arachnomania, issuing a statement, saying "the Pope had no problem that a spider wanted to take a walk on him."

NEW YORK — The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown's thriller to be released Tuesday — his first since 2003's The Da Vinci Code— includes a scene that Brown says came from his own life.
In the new novel, Brown's recurring hero, Harvard professor Robert Langdon, is recognized by a fan who tells him: "My book group read your book about the sacred feminine and the church! What a delicious scandal that one caused! You do enjoy putting the fox in the henhouse!"
Langdon, who in Brown's fiction writes non-fiction books about symbols and religion, replies, "Scandal wasn't really my intention."
Is that a reference to Da Vinci, which has sold 80 million copies worldwide, and was driven by the idea that the Vatican covered up Jesus' marriage to Mary Magdalene?
"Of course," Brown says and laughs.
Three years ago, facing a British copyright infringement suit over The Da Vinci Code (decided in his favor), Brown says a woman recognized him, and used that phrase: "Putting the fox in the henhouse."
He replied the way Langdon does in the novel. But if scandal isn't his intention, what is?
"To mix facts into a fictional setting and get readers to ask questions about what they believe. But to make it fun to read. Someone said it's like eating vegetables that taste like ice cream. That's a little simplistic."
Brown's thrillers are anything but simplistic. The Lost Symbol, a 509-page puzzle, is set in modern-day Washington, D.C.
It's driven by a Masonic legend: hidden in the nation's capital is a map or portal that leads to a body of secret knowledge, that as Langdon puts it, "allegedly enables its practitioners to access powerful abilities that lie dormant in the human mind."
The map may not literally be a map. And for much of the novel, it's not clear what's real and what's metaphorical symbolism.
But with a first printing of 5 million copies, there's no doubt that Symbol promises to be the publishing event of 2009.
Brown says he knew he had to do two things to appeal to his fans: "They had to immediately know they were back in Langdon's world, but that the story was fresh."NEW YORK — The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown's thriller to be released Tuesday — his... more

ROME — Italy has approved the use of the abortion drug RU-486, drawing fierce protests by the Vatican.
The drug, which terminates pregnancy by causing the embryo to detach from the uterine wall, is already available in several other European countries. But approval in Italy had been held up so far by the Catholic Church, which opposes abortion and contraception.
The Italian Drug Agency ruled after a meeting that ended late Thursday that the drug cannot be sold in drug stores but can only be administered by doctors in a hospital.
The agency said in a statement that the pill can only be taken up to the seventh week of pregnancy, and not up to the ninth as is the case in other countries. It also said that women who had used the pill between the seventh and the ninth week of pregnancy incurred more risks and had often needed surgery.ROME — Italy has approved the use of the abortion drug RU-486, drawing fierce... more
