Perhaps it's the power of social media--or the power of Kim Kardashian--but an aggressive social media campaign led by the reality show queen and other stars has helped to grant a delay in the execution of Troy Davis today, according to reports from "USA Today."
Davis, whose supporters say was handed down a death sentence for the 1989 killing of a Savannah, Ga. police officer despite no DNA, no gun and no physical evidence, was scheduled for execution at 7 p.m. est. today.
But thanks to stars like Kim Kardashian, Outkast's Big Boi, Heavy D, other celebrities, and a grassroots Twitter campaign, his advocates helped to persuade a judge to grant a temporary stay moments before he was to meet his end.
Observers on Twitter are calling it a miracle.

A consciously Black opposition to the First Black President, on issues of peace and economic justice, is taking shape.” Some of the players “on tour”: Cynthia McKinney’s “Eyewitness Libya” tour; Tavis Smiley and Cornel West’s “Poverty Tour”; and Congressional Black Caucus efforts to put distance between themselves and Obama on their “Job Fair/Town Hall” tour.
Meanwhile, Obama’s minions attempt to maintain a “Black Wall” around the president, with diminishing results. “The realization that the dream was a chimera is one thing, but to awaken to a catastrophe in which the Great Black Hope is revealed as the Great Black Betrayer, is another magnitude of pain.
The final unraveling of Obamaism – at root, a kind of delirium centered on a corporate-crafted Great Black Hope – will be nowhere near complete until the hallucinogen is substantially purged from the psyche of its core constituency, Black America. Tentative moves by outfits like the Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party to explore the possibility of a primary challenge to Obama are encouraging, to be sure. But Obama’s awesome power to neutralize and disfigure progressive politics in the United States owes its potency to the First Black President’s psychological hold on African Americans, historically the nation’s most Left constituency. As long as Obama’s very presence in the White House continues to mangle African American political perceptions, effectively neutering Blacks as a social force, the chances of a progressive revival are nil.
Therefore, probably the most important political developments of the late summer are taking place in Black America – some of them “on tour.” Among activists, at least, Obama’s “Black Wall” finally cracked with the Euro-American assault on Libya. It was the straw that broke the bonds between Obama and Black nationalists and leftists, who were forced to choose between icons: the heady symbolism of a Black President versus Mother Africa. Spurred by former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney’s ongoing “Eyewitness Libya” tour, a distinctive, Black-led anti-war movement is emerging, one that is radical, anti-imperial and, specifically, anti-Obama.A consciously Black opposition to the First Black President, on issues of peace and... more

Looks like Rev. Al has friends in high places.
President Obama, embroiled in a furious battle over the federal budget, swept into New York last night for a star-studded celebration of the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network and gave the beaming civil-rights leader a rousing slap on the back.
"Some things have changed a lot since 1991. I told Rev. Al backstage he's getting skinnier than me," the president joked about his formerly portly pal during a keynote address celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sharpton's organization.
"But he hasn't lost his style," Obama said.

There's nothing surprising about recent poll numbers indicating more people are confused about The Messiah's true religion than ever before. They aren't confused. Somewhere in that lump of random matter that passes for their brains they know the truth. They're just being aggressively ignorant. They're willingly allowing themselves to become the peas in a big chaos theory shell game. There's nothing surprising about recent poll numbers indicating more people are... more

The NAACP has approved a resolution condemning what it calls "racist elements" within the Tea Party. The vote has sparked a war of words between the two groups, and NAACP leaders hope the move will help fire up its membership with midterm elections approaching. "I don't recall the NAACP ever standing up and saying we need to civilize discourse when Republicans were in the White House," Williams added.
A number of Tea Party leaders say they don't tolerate racist displays.
Williams contends that it's actually the NAACP that's being bigoted.
"You're dealing with people who are professional race-baiters, who make a very good living off this kind of thing. They make more money off of race than any slave trader ever. It's time groups like the NAACP went to the trash heap of history where they belong with all the other vile racist groups that emerged in our history," Williams said. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=128505089The NAACP has approved a resolution condemning what it calls "racist... more
