International award-winning filmmaker Kevin P. Miller of Well TV announced the release of a new documentary about the threat to medical freedom of choice. 'We Become Silent: The Last Days of Health Freedom' details the ongoing attempts by multinational pharmaceutical interests and giant food companies — in concert with the WTO, the WHO and others — to limit the public’s access to herbs, vitamins and other therapies. 'We Become Silent’ is narrated by Dame Judi Dench, the noted UK actress who has won multiple Golden Globe awards, an Oscar, and a Tony for her on-stage work, in addition to dozens of other honors throughout her prestigious career.

IN OCTOBER, if the Bush administration has its way with the Supreme Court, you will lose the right to sue a drug company if you are harmed by a medication that was FDA approved.
Apparently, this entire controversy sprang up over a woman who lost her arm to gangrene after she was inappropriately injected with a drug manufactured by Wyeth pharmaceuticals, then subsequently sued Wyeth, and won. Now the Bush Administration is challenging that decision and trying to create a blanket law which would make it impossible to sue a drug company whose product has been approved by the FDA.
Suing can get out of hand and is sometimes directed at the wrong agents (e.g. if a drug company is sued for the mistake of a nurse who administers an inappropriate drug) However, making it illegal to sue a drug company over a drug, solely because that drug was approved by the FDA, is preposterous.
Considering that agencies like the FDA and EPA are supposed to protect the health and safety of humans and the environment, but are more concerned (especially under the Bush administration) with industry interests, this law could be very detrimental to our right to be protected.
Just because the FDA says it is safe, does not mean it is. Hormones, biotech seeds, short-term tested foods and drugs - these are all things that the FDA gives its stamp of approval to. Not only should we have the right to know more about what is in our foods and the risks associated with those ingredients, but we should also have the right to challenge the (low-respected) approval of the FDA.IN OCTOBER, if the Bush administration has its way with the Supreme Court, you will... more

"Big Pharma runs the Food and Drug Administration, which is supposed to regulate it. Our Fascist system routinely shuttles bureaucrats and executives back and forth between them, to such an extent that it is realistic to consider them two legs on the same bug. Big Pharma/FDA is presently using government force to outlaw vitamins, via Codex Alimentarius, coming soon to your local 'health food' store.
Big Food includes companies like Monsanto Chemical, a monster straight out of science fiction alien horror. With help from the government, Monsanto is literally trying to monopolize agricultural seeds. If it succeeds, it will control food. It is presently conducting a reign of terror against the world’s farmers, many of whom are committing suicide. The Monsanto monster will not stop until it kills us..."

Who knew that something so simple as consuming a pack of gum, or drinking a favorite Diet soda could be harmful?
The ASPARTAME monster knew!
ASPARTAME is NOT your friend. It is poison. It is connected to cancer, tumors and other very harmful ailments.
Yeah- I know- it's just gum. It's just a Diet soda. It can be purchased over the counter..so how bad can it really be? C'mon. That logic would also imply that the abundance of alcohol beverages and tobacco products in urban areas, are specifically placed there, because it's a good thing. And "they" are looking out for the health and well being. Yeah- sounds silly, right?
Look- just check out this video. Look up other Aspartame articles. It's not a hoax, or some radical ghost chase. ASPARTAME is poison.
Many will choose to educate themselves about this very urgent matter, and still choose to consume. There is something about the sweet minty flavor that makes this poison acceptable to many. PLEASE care enough to not intentionally harm your body and your kids and loved ones. ..yeah, it's that deep.

A new law being considered in the U.S. Congress would attempt to prevent postpartum depression in new moms by allowing doctors to prescribe SSRI antidepressant drugs while they're still pregnant.
SSRI drugs have never been approved for use on newborns, yet this new MOTHERS Act will effectively drug unborn babies and newborns with drugs like Prozac. This will certainly have an impact on their developing brains, and the bulk of the research available today shows that the impact will be negative. Will these children be more prone to violent thoughts and behavior? Will they contemplate suicide at younger ages? And what will be the impact of the drugs on the mother?
This legislation is being aggressively pushed by pro-pharma front groups in an effort to expand the customer base for SSRI drugs by targeting pregnant women as new "customers" for the chemicals.A new law being considered in the U.S. Congress would attempt to prevent postpartum... more

Drug companies are struggling because their products don´t work for preventive health and they can´t make money just using them for appropriate uses. Their main trade group spent $22 million in 2007 to buy favors from Congress.
Partly this money was spent trying to maintain a legal monopoly – such as blocking less expensive drug re-importation, preventing fair-price drug negotiations for Medicare, manipulating patent laws to extend drug profits, and ensuring direct to consumer ads continue.
Most of the increase in spending was to get Congress to reauthorize the State Children´s Health Insurance Program, a program to get and keep low-income kids on mind altering drugs – a cash cow worth billions for Big Pharma. These drugs cause permanent adverse alterations in the developing nervous system of children. There is a reason every school-related mass murder involves shooters that have been on psych drugs.
Proposals aimed at lowering drug prices and restricting industry advertising fell by the wayside in Congress.Drug companies are struggling because their products don´t work for preventive... more

The FDA seeks to broaden the range of use for drugs
The rules would allow drug and device makers to provide doctors with copies of medical journal articles that discuss product uses that have not been vetted or approved by the F.D.A. The rules also say that drug companies do not have to promise to adequately test the unapproved use discussed in the article.
But critics of the proposal say that drug and device companies have a long history of promoting unapproved drug and device uses that later proved dangerous and that allowing companies to talk about such unapproved uses removes incentives for companies to research adequately whether the new use is actually beneficial.
“People will die if they are getting drugs that don’t have clear evidence that the benefits outweigh the risks,” said Dr. Sidney Wolfe, director of Public Citizen’s health research group.
Representative Henry Waxman, Democrat of California, said the proposed rule “caters to the industry’s desire to market their products without adequate testing or review.”

Recent laboratory tests found so much mercury in tuna sushi from 20 Manhattan stores and restaurants that at most of them, a regular diet of six pieces a week would exceed the levels considered acceptable by the Environmental Protection Agency.

A former colleague of mine - also an extremely dear friend - got breast implants about maybe 5 years ago; she said she'd done it because after having had two kids she wanted to restore her breasts to a symmetry that was more representative of her, ah, glory years.
This is a stunning, beautiful, brilliant woman---she branched off on her own from our old company and has since independently built her own multi-million dollar business. She's easily one of the most intelligent, ballsy, savvy women I personally know. But I'll never forget the sight of her driving the two of us to a business appointment, a few days after her implants surgery, and holding bags of frozen peas against her boobs to help assuage the apparent pain---and I couldn't help but wonder to myself how and why a sane, intelligent person would voluntarily endure that kind of agony and discomfort.

The FDA knows very little about the conditions of most manufacturers of foreign drugs. An estimated 80 percent of the active pharmaceutical ingredients used to make drugs sold in the United States are imported. Among finished drugs, an estimated 40 percent are made abroad, with China and India emerging as major industry players. In China, a nation with an increasing share of drug production, it is estimated 200,000 to 300,000 deaths a year are attributed to substandard medicines. The FDA knows very little about the conditions of most manufacturers of foreign drugs.... more
