David Beckham's new hairy face which made its UK television debut during last night's final World Cup qualifying match against Belarus, adorned the pitch for a mere 31 minutes but it appeared to make an impact.
Sponsors, perhaps saluting the new face-fuzz made him their "man of the match," despite him coming on as a substitute and not scoring. Baffled England boss Fabio Capello laughed off the accolade, suggesting it was as ridiculous as Barack Obama being given the Nobel Peace prize after a similarly short stint as President.
For a man with dodgy English, Capello can make topical swipes with the best of them, and for that he's a keeper in my eyes.
Beck's beard was not well-received by girlie magazine Grazia which today questioned whether the handsome Essex boy is trying to make himself un-fanciable. Why would he do that? David Beckham is back in LA, but not everyone is happy about it. His botched attempted to break his contract with LA Galaxy in favour of a permanent move to Milan not only angered his bosses (and also his wife), but Galaxy's fan base too. At his first home match since returning, he attempted to jump the barrier at half time to confront angry fans who had been jeering at him through out the first 45 minutes.

Former Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas told the BBC, "He'll get booed and it's of his own making. If he comes back this summer, as has been reported, I'm sure he'll do everything he can to help the team on the field. But I'm also sure there is something to be said for having players on your team who want to be there. I don't think that's too much to ask."

David Beckham is going to stay at AC Milan until the end of the season after a deal was reached with LA Galaxy. He'll then rejoin LA Galaxy for a few months, before going back to Milan at the end of the year.
Goldenballs was expected to go back to Galaxy on the 9th March but held up the proceedings to try to negotiate a stay in Milan. It's thought he's taken a pay cut in order for this deal to go ahead.

AC Milan and the LA Galaxy haven't reached a deal on David Beckham, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said Tuesday, contradicting US media reports.
''The affair isn't resolved. We are working on the hypothesis of a loan until June 30 but no deal has been reached,'' Galliani said. Earlier, the Los Angeles affiliate of CBS reported that the clubs had agreed Beckham would stay in Italy until the end of the Serie A season and return to the US in July.
