Despite the Arab League observers’ report verifying the threat that the Free Syrian Army (or the “Free Army” (FA) as critics prefer to call it in reference to the fact that many of the organisation’s members are of non-Syrian origin) the European Union responded to the clearly defensive military operation by threatening further sanctions against the Syrian people. Predictably, the NATO and GCC media, in perfect unison with the warmongering stance of their states, published unsubstantiated claims from unverifiable sources that the Syrian government was committing a massacre against Homs’ civilian population. After the Associated Press revealed an NYPD collaboration with the CIA, in which the department spied on entire Muslim neighborhoods, that relationship is ending.
An internal CIA investigation cleared the agency of wrongdoing, but decided that the CIA operative currently assigned to the NYPD intelligence unit will leave because the officer who served in that role until 2010 was "operating without sufficient supervision," The Wall Street Journal reports, while creating "spying programs that helped make the NYPD one of the nation's most aggressive domestic intelligence agencies."
While the identity of the current agent, who will be pulled, remains classified, Lawrence Sanchez did the job for nearly a decade after September 11, and remained on the CIA payroll from 2002 to 2004 before taking a leave of absence.
The legal justifications for the relationship between the NYPD and the CIA, as well as the spying program in general, remain murky, with the CIA pushing general terrorism-related justifications. "Context matters here," said an agency spokesperson. "The CIA stepped up cooperation with law enforcement on counterterrorism after 9/11. A Muslim woman is suing the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut for allegedly expelling her and telling the FBI that she was a terrorist, she says in retaliation for a sexual harassment complaint she made against a fellow student.
Balayla Ahmad filed suit against the school in District Court on January 10th, citing gender discrimination, civil rights violations, breach of contract and negligence. The complaint also names the school’s president, the president’s assistant, the Dean of the College of Chiropractic and the Director of Security, all of whom Ahmad claims showed “deliberate indifference” to her complaints and eventually expelled her.

Glenn returned from his pilgrimage and found that he had been demoted to seasonal status, and lost all benefits, including health care. When he protested to human resources, he was retaliated against with pervasive harassment. Employees began making anti-Muslim comments, and when Glenn used his off the clock break time for short, 5 minute prayers, he would get heckled to the point where the only place he could pray without being disturbed was next to a trash dumpster. In February of 2011, Glenn received a phone call saying he was terminated from employment for alleged absenteeism, something he was not informed about before.
Ironically, in July 2011, just a few months after Glenn was fired for being Muslim, Whole Foods became the first national supermarket chain to launch a “Ramadan promotion” seeking to attract Muslim consumers during the Islamic holy month.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has become the latest leader to find himself on the receiving end of that popular Middle Eastern method of protest – the thrown shoe.
Like George W Bush before him, Ahmadinejad found himself staring down the sole of a gentleman's shoe when someone believed to be a recently laid-off textile worker decided to demonstrate his anger during an official ceremony in the north of the country.
According to the Middle Eastern culture, throwing shoes is considered to be one of the strongest ways to show contempt.
Iranian media reported that Rashid, around 45, had been discharged from a textile company after a year of not being paid by his employers.
Local agencies said the shoes did not hit Ahmadinejad due to "his prompt reaction" but hit the poster behind him. Pictures of the incident were not immediately released.
