Hello Everyone. My name is Dave Nash, and on April 25th, 2010, Parental Alienation Awareness Day, I will attempt to break the Guiness World Record for the Fastest Crossing of Canada on Foot (Male). The current record is 72 days, 10 hrs and 23 min. It was set from June 21st, to September 1st, in 1991 by Al Howie, who ran across Canada, from St John's, Nfld, to Victoria, BC, a distance of 7295.5 km (4,533.2 miles).
I am attempting to break this World Record to raise awareness about our Country's FAILING and BROKEN, so-called "Family" Justice System, as well as our Governments' UNWILLINGNESS and OUTRIGHT REFUSAL to reform the system for the sake of our children.Hello Everyone. My name is Dave Nash, and on April 25th, 2010, Parental Alienation... more

Basingstoke man, Dave Holby, is rowing around the world from the comfort of a shopping centre in the north Hampshire town. I say 'comfort' rather lightheartedly as it will take two-and-a-half years of hard slog outside Primark.
Why would anyone subject themselves to that? Charity. In this case, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Dave's been rowing for up to eight hours a day, five days a week in his attempt to be the first person to 'virtually' row around the world.
The attempt can be followed on Twitter @worldrecordrow and here: http://blog.worldrecordrow.com/Basingstoke man, Dave Holby, is rowing around the world from the comfort of a shopping... more

Steve Mallie of Mallie's Sports Grill and Bar in Michigan, USA, has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world's biggest burger.
The 84kg burger sells for $499 (£302) and cooks for 15 hours before being topped with cheese lettuce and tomato. The bun takes 8 hours to bake and it takes a trolley to wheel it into the restaurant, as they haven't got any plates big enough to hold it.

We'll burst that bubble right quick and say it's not actually a Batmobile, but it sure reminds us of one. The British Steam Car Challenge might not have reached its original goal of 200mph, but it has finally succeeded in becoming the world's fastest boiler on wheels.
We noted preparations for the world record attempt back in April and, somewhat surprisingly, all has gone to plan and pilot Charles Burnett III now has broken a 100 year old record to go with his flamboyant pair of spectacles. That's the Brits for you -- break records in the morning, have tea and crumpets in the afternoon. We'll burst that bubble right quick and say it's not actually a Batmobile,... more

An attempt to set off a world record 110,000 fireworks in under 60 seconds failed miserably in Bournemouth. Instead of going off as planned, the barge carrying the fireworks appeared to blow up and burst into flames.
No rockets shot into the skies and just six seconds in, the whole thing crashed and burned. Around 175,000 who had turned up to watch the Roar on the Shore left disappointed and faced severe delays in getting home.
Ruth Downing took some pleasure in seeing the flaming barge: "It looked like the barge just exploded and then caught fire. It was very disappointing not so much a roar as a growl. We thought it would be rockets exploding in the sky in this amazing fireworks display, but instead if you blinked you would have missed it. It was just a big bang, a blinding flash and then flames. That was probably the most exciting bit because it looked like the barge was on fire."
Yet another FAIL from Britain in the world record attempts. An attempt to set off a world record 110,000 fireworks in under 60 seconds failed... more

An 8-year-old British boy with probably the most kick-ass name in his year at school - Tiger Brewer - has become the youngest kid to wing-walk.
Yup, that's right - this little fella has been flying around ON the wing of a plane! He just has to be the coolest kid in school. Ferris Bueller, apart from being a fictional character in an 80s movie, isn't even a fraction of this awesome in my book.
And just to top this all off in the cool-stakes...
'The world record was held by Guy Mason, son of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who first wing-walked in 2001 aged 11.'
That's right, Tiger has surpassed the son of Pink Floyd's drummer. Rock on!An 8-year-old British boy with probably the most kick-ass name in his year at school -... more

A new world record for the largest custard pie fight has been set in Colchester with 253 people gathering to throw 648 pies - filled with 200 litres of custard - in just a few minutes.
Marco Frigatti, vice president of Record Management at Guinness World Records, said the contest had to be conducted under official rules, including measuring the pies, counting them, and having each person in the fight throw at least twice.

The rather creatively named 'bubbleologist' Samsam Bubbleman, 37, thinks he has broken the

Steve Misiura has watched every episode of Friends back to back and has gained a world record as a result.
The 31 year old from Brixton, south London was advised by Guinness World Records to take a break every eight hours, but he decided to rest only every 16 hours so that he could get through the challenge faster.
You can see from the pictures that he took of himself that he didn't necessarily have a great time watching and actually started hallucinating.
Wonder how long it will take to get the theme tune out of his head?Steve Misiura has watched every episode of Friends back to back and has gained a world... more

Staff in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, set up 41 mattresses across their warehouse, with a person standing in front of each one.
The mattresses were positioned along a carefully mapped route through the warehouse, zigzagging up and down the main floor, among forklifts, boxes and conveyor belts.
The front worker tips backwards, beginning the domino effect to topple the 40 remaining mattresses with various yelps and shrieks from participants.
The final person then lands on a conveyor belt where he is given a teddy bear, a sleep mask, a duvet and a pillow.

Louise Brown, 91, is about to borrow her 25,000th library book and has never been fined for a late return.
Welsh-born Louise reads at least a dozen books a week, sticking to the large-print editions, as she's partially sighted.
Staff at the Stranraer Library in Dumfries and Galloway reckon Louise could earn herself a place in the record books and have asked other libraries to contact them if they know of someone who's borrowed more books.
Louise said: 'My parents were great readers and I've always loved books. I started reading when I was five and have never stopped. I like anything I can get my hands on.'Louise Brown, 91, is about to borrow her 25,000th library book and has never been... more

This has to be seen to be believed.
When Tyler Bradt shot down Palouse falls, he broke a world record and his paddle, but he survived virtually unscathed.
Bradt achieved the feat in April, but the video has only just emerged.
After plunging 55 metres (180ft) he surfaced after seven seconds only slightly out of breath and with a sprained wrist.
"I actually expected more of an impact," he told the Seattle Times. "... considering the waterfall, the injuries were pretty minor."This has to be seen to be believed.

Now this is a headline you don't see everyday. A woman in Russia has broken her own weight lifting record using just her vagina muscles.
“After I had a child, my intimate muscles got unbelievably weak. I read books on Dao and learned that ancient women used to deal with this problem using wooden balls,” she said. “I looked around, saw a Murano glass ball and inserted it in my vagina. It took me ages to get it out!”Now this is a headline you don't see everyday. A woman in Russia has broken her... more
