On December 13th 2001, the Pentagon released a tape of Osama bin Laden discussing the September 11th attacks.
Administration officials said this tape showed that bin Laden was the mastermind behind the operation.
The U.S. Government translated the Arabic conversation in the video and provided subtitles.
The tape shows bin Laden sitting on the floor in a bare room in a house in in what could be Kandahar. With him are several other men, including two aides and an unidentified cleric, or Sheikh.
Administration officials said the tape was found in a house in Jalalabad, but did not tell how or when they managed to recover it.
In the following raw intel you see segments of that tape that reportedly implicated Osama Bin Laden, identified on screen as UBL, as the mastermind of the attacks. On December 13th 2001, the Pentagon released a tape of Osama bin Laden discussing the... more

First, Al Qaeda's number 2 guy lets loose an 80 minute documentary style video saying the U.S. is losing in Afghanistan, Iraq, and pretty much everywhere we face al Qaeda. The video starts with audio of Mohammad Atta from American Airlines Flight 11, the first to crash into the World Trade Center, saying that everything would be ok (I think he and I have different definitions of "ok").
But wait, there's more! Banners on the site where Ayman al-Zawahri's vid was released promise a new vid from the top dog himself. Be on the lookout for a new message from Osama bin Laden, declaring war on Pakistan's president Pervez Musharraf and the Pakistani Army. Sounds like it's not a good time to plan a visit to Pakistan.First, Al Qaeda's number 2 guy lets loose an 80 minute documentary style video... more

After denouncing the "capitalist system," which "seeks to turn the entire world into a fiefdom of the major corporations," bin Laden calls for Americans to convert to Islam because, among other things, taxes are lower in Islamic states. In a taped speech, Osama bin Laden calls attention to the growing dissent over the war in Iraq and the failures of the Bush administration to end the war. The authenticity of the tape remains unverified, but bin Laden does make reference to several recent events that would mean long-standing rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated. In a taped speech, Osama bin Laden calls attention to the growing dissent over the war... more

He tells the New York Daily News, "I figure if Bin Laden wants me, and everybody is looking for him, it probably won't happen. But if he wants to try and find me for something so stupid, he can do what he wants. I have to leave it in the hands of my higher power.I really wish I was making this up!

Pakistan is a close ally in the War on Terror, but a couple key Bush officials (director of national intelligence, and the lovely homeland security advisor Frances Townsend pictured at left) said they think Osama is alive and kicking it in Pakistan's tribal region that borders Afghanistan. I don't blame the Pakistani Interior Minister for his peeved response: "Our stance is that Osama bin Laden is not present in Pakistan. If anyone has the information he should give it to us, so that we can apprehend him".Pakistan is a close ally in the War on Terror, but a couple key Bush officials... more
