If you’re tired of the predictability of traditional museums or have an interest in the mysterious and unexplained, you might want to check out Loren Coleman’s International Cryptozoology Museum. Coleman is a cryptozoologist, meaning he studies hidden, unknown or unusual animals, some of which may or may not truly exist or could even be extinct. These animals tend to lurk in mythology, urban legends and folklore, and include such familiar beasts as Bigfoot, Yeti, Nessie and the Jersey Devil, just to name a few. If Coleman’s name sounds vaguely familiar, you may have seen it on the covers of the many crypto-centered books he’s written or perhaps you’ve seen the man himself on television programs and documentaries dealing with the subject, such as the History Channel’s MonsterQuest. Coleman also keeps a blog, Cryptomundo, where he posts news from the field and gives thoughtful, open-minded, scientific breakdowns and analyses of the latest evidence and sightings from around the globe.

way back in the day, oceanic-air.com offered some easter eggs, and this script page was one of them. now, many fans consider the oceanic-air.com site to live "out of canon" with the rest of the online chicanery that the LOST producers are up to (specifically because the domain was registered directly to ABC, and not to anyone associated with the other officially sanctioned sites run by the production team).
what are your thoughts? red herring, or will it play into the monster?

November 24, 2008--A mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) underwater, this alien-like, long-armed, and--strangest of all--"elbowed" Magnapinna squid is seen in a still from a video clip recently obtained by National Geographic News.
Filmed by a Shell oil company ROV (remotely operated vehicle) on November 11, 2007, the squid was at the Perdido oil- and gas-development site in the Gulf of Mexico.
The video is evidence of how, as oil- and gas-industry ROVs dive deeper and stay down longer, they are yielding valuable footage of deep-sea animals.
Some biologists have even formed partnerships with oil companies, allowing scientists to share camera time on corporate ROVs--though critics worry about possible conflicts of interest.November 24, 2008--A mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) underwater, this... more

Japanese climbers returning from a mountain in western Nepal said Tuesday they had found footprints they think belonged to the abominable snowman or Yeti.
"We saw three footprints which looked like that of human beings," Kuniaki Yagihara, a member of the Yeti Project Japan, said in Kathmandu, after returning from the mountain with photographs of the footprints.
The climbers, equipped with long-lens cameras, video cameras and telescopes, said, however that they did not see or take any photographs of the creature.
The Yeti is said to live in the Himalayan regions of Nepal and is largely regarded by the scientific community as a mythical creature.
Yagihara, 61, said the creature's footprints were found on snow at an altitude of about 4,800 meters (15,748 feet) in the Dhaulagiri mountain range in western Nepal.
"We know how the footprints of bear, deer and mountain goat look like and it was none of that," he said. "We believe it is that of Yeti."
Yagihara and his team, supported by Sherpas, spent six weeks on the lower reaches of the 7,661-meter (25,134-ft) Dhaulagiri IV looking for evidence of the beast's existence.
Sherpas narrate tales of a wild hairy creature roaming the Himalayas, capturing the imagination of foreign climbers of Mount Everest since the 1920s. Those stories prompted many, including Sir Edmund Hillary, to carry out yeti hunts.
In August, two men in the United States claimed they had found the remains of a half-man, half-ape Bigfoot, which actually turned out to be a rubber gorilla suit.
Some other climbers have also claimed to have found Yeti footprints, but no one has yet actually seen it or produced irrefutable proof.
Yagihara, the manager of a mountain museum in Japan, said he believes the creature exists. "If I don't believe on Yeti I would never come."Japanese climbers returning from a mountain in western Nepal said Tuesday they had... more

“The huge flying creature had a long beak and pointed head that swept back from the beak. ...The wings appeared to be a membrane stretched over bone," claims an eyewitness who says he saw a pteranodon-type huge flying creature south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania . I like to believe in Bigfoot. It is fun. I also love to believe in sea monsters. Also fun.
Could be a hoax, could be a clever viral for some product, could be real.
When I say "could be real" I get excited. This world seems infinitely better when we have real bigfoots and sea monsters. I have never understood those people who insist on killing that kind of harmless hope.
These type of stories can make you feel like there just might be real magic left in the world.
And even if there isn't, it's sure nice to pretend once in a while.
Enjoy.

"British marine experts have found what they claim is a world first -- a six-legged octopus, or 'hexapus,' whom they have christened Henry.
The unique sea creature, which has two limbs fewer than a normal octopus, is believed to be the result of a birth defect rather than an accident, say his keepers at the Blackpool Sea Life Centre in northwest England.""British marine experts have found what they claim is a world first -- a... more

As an avid nature nut, I can't believe we haven't heard more on this monster. A half-ton example, of a relative of the giant squid, was caught near New Zealand in February of 2007. Named the Colossal Squid, it it currently the largest known species of squid in the world. I found this information very interesting, and thought it would have been more publicised than it was. Oh well,I just thought it would be appreciated by those who had not previously heard this story. Enjoy. As an avid nature nut, I can't believe we haven't heard more on this... more
