It might have been a good sound bite, but Senator Clinton's opening remark in her victory speech - that the campaign in New Hampshire helped her "find her voice" - was the unintentional opening of a window into the slippery and opportunistic truth of her campaign. It might have been a good sound bite, but Senator Clinton's opening remark in her... more

There will be a serious, critical look at the final pre-election polls in the Democratic presidential primary in New Hampshire; that is essential. It is simply unprecedented for so many polls to have been so wrong. We need to know why.

His motives may be sincere, but I fear even he too has been co-opted to some degree by corporate lobbyists. So if that is the case, how can he call for change if he conducts his campaign like a status quo candidate? Where are all the millions he is getting to run this campaign coming from? And how can you call for change and work to benefit companies like Archer Daniels Midland, which is an agribusiness company making a killing in corn ethanol that is not environmentally sound?
I'm not posting this BTW to attack him, but I do believe that before a vote is cast people should look beyond the dazzle and soundbites of a rally and understand that when someone continually says it is "time for change" that they aren't then representing and being financially supported by the very status quo they say we need a change from. And to be honest, I am not so sure that Barack Obama as a president would keep us out of another war. And as the last sentence here also states, anyone so adored by this country's corporate media has to have sold their soul a bit.
Personally, I'm tired of the political rhetoric and catch phrases, and I'm tired of the overexposure of both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the press and find it very suspect. Two primaries does not a president make. And yes, I know John Edwards isn't perfect either and there are also things about him that I too disagree with because I actually have read about him and not just accepted a media hyping of him giving a speech at a rally. However, when it comes to walking the walk about running the moneylenders out of the Washington DC temple, John Edwards to me is the most sincere based on his record. And as he stated we will never see change unless we break the stranglehold corporations and lobbyists have on our government. And I am truly beginning to doubt that Barack Obama is the one who will do that. His motives may be sincere, but I fear even he too has been co-opted to some degree by... more

We saw Obama win the caucus in a primarily white state. New Hampshire is the same. Look at these demographics. 98% white. I feel that these states do not act as an accurate political barometer. What will happen when the candidates face diversity, and minorities. Will Obama get the black vote? What will happen when they face a more accurate representation of our country? We saw Obama win the caucus in a primarily white state. New Hampshire is the same.... more

This is a great interview with Keith Olberman about his candidacy, his chances, the pundits, and the "media blackout" of him which I think is absurd but not surprising. I know this much: The MSM in this country will do anything to demean or ignore the one who scares them the most. John Edwards absolutely is the one candidate out of our choices for the American people, and I hope that is shown clearly in NH. Thanks to Keith Olberman for this interview. This is a great interview with Keith Olberman about his candidacy, his chances, the... more

John Edwards in Fort Meyers Fla. at the Step It Up rally this past April. I agree with most of his platform on addressing climate change, although I do not believe that (corn) ethanol is a viable solution. But at least he has laid a defiintive plan out, which can be found at his campaign website. I truly do wonder however, just how far he would be allowed to go with his plans in this system. His retiscence to new nuclear plants alone would be at odds with Congress on both sides of the aisle. So, that is why I think that besides concentrating on the presidential race we should also really be looking at what seats are up in 2008 and what we can do to sweep it clean. One particular seat in Oklahoma occupied by a man named Inhofe comes to mind.

In the Democratic contest, young voters turned out in big numbers and heavily favored Barack Obama, who also won many votes for his message of change. Following the death of Benazir Bhutto and the chaos that followed the disputed election in Kenya, convention wisdom in the US was that candidates for President who stressed experience over change would stand to benefit.
The argument seems on the surface to be completely plausible. After all, isnt Hillary Clinton more equipped to handle an international crisis with her years of experience over the upstart Barack Obama? With only 1 term in the senate to his resume, the only link Obama had to Kenya was that his father was from there.
Mike Huckabee was a governor from Arkansas. Unlike many of his rivals he has zero experience in foreign affairs and made several high profile gaffes on the topic.
It seemed that international events were working against both candidates. Yet by the time the polls closed on Tuesday night, conventional wisdom proved to be dead wrong. Why?
It seems that Americans are so distraught on the current state of American affairs that they are willing to embrace anything new.
Consider this. On the Republican ticket there has been a Bush or a Dole for every national election since 1976 (thats before this author was born). Since 1988 we have had: Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush. The outcome of the last quarter century of American presidential politics hasnt exactly been a call for change. Maybe now voters are tired of keeping it in the family. Maybe now after so many years of more of the same, the change crowd will now move front and center.
