With the new school year about to commence many New York area Jewish parents will have to find a way to fund their children's day school tuitions. In my June 10, 2010 article I shared my interview with Mindi Wernick and Malkie Grozalsky in which they speak of having made financial sacrifices to send their children to a Jewish school. In my interview with Nassau County residents Keith and Cindy Hamada, Keith speaks of day school tuition as a form of birth control that limits the sizes of Jewish families.
Although Keith and Cindy belong to an Orthodox synagogue and my wife Shoshana and I belong to a Conservative congregation, I was struck by how similar our levels of observance are, which teaches us that labels don't tell the whole story.With the new school year about to commence many New York area Jewish parents will have... more

When I told people I was interviewing Idris Elba for the upcoming bro-centric heist movie, Takers many people gave me a puzzled look and asked, “Who?”
I list his long resume of roles and it’s not until I get to his character of Stringer Bell from The Wire until he gets some recognition (more on Stringer Bell later). This made me come to the realization that Elba falls into the “that guy” category of movie/TV stars — you kind of know who he is, but ultimately you don’t really know who he is. With his diverse track record of roles, you would think he would want instant recognition, but he really doesn’t mind being under the radar.
Dressed in a plain red V-neck, jeans and a huge ring that he got at one of those really cool shops in Santa Monica, he shares with us his views on being a low-key movie star. (he’s the guy in the clip with the English accent– yes, he has an English accent. It took me a while to figure that out too) :

Interview with heavy metal drummer, Gene Hoglan, now of Fear Factory. Hoglan is famous for his drumming skills on albums, on tour and/or as part of some of the following bands: Dark Angel, Slayer, Death, Strapping Young Lad, Opeth, Meldrum, Dethklok, Zimmers Hole, Devin Townsend and many, many more. Gene recently joined forces with Fear Factory and did the drumming on the bands recently released disk entitled "Mechanize" and is presently on tour with Fear Factory. Songs include: "Fear Campaign" by Fear Factory and "Wrong Side" by Strapping Young Lad.
