For this release, “Baud Of Passion”, x|k slows it down a little, and the album is less intense when compared to his hard techno output on 8bitpeoples. But this new release loses none of the dancefloor sensibilities. “warm wishes” follows the general aesthetic of minimal techno, with short blips and a restrained bassline, “hwy chipmusik” has a nice driving detroit style bass, while “aktivity” was made to be put into a set at full-tilt, with its rave stylings. The release really drives home the point that good music can be made on anything, and should be. x|k’s mastery of the raw waveforms of the NES and his skills in engineering his own music production system have set him out for cult status. This is made for the people! Please share... the music was composed by my son years ago and when I heard it... it broke my heart to know that at 23 he was feeling the depth of a ticking time bomb... his world as he knew it then was certain to fail. He used the sound sample from the movie Network and electonically altered the message... I found myself glued to the images on the internet and was compelled to make this video. Power to the people! Theremin music recorded on Zoom R16 using six tracks. The first track (upper right) was interrupted by a cat, a non-musical cat at that, but I decided to continue and make the best of it. The third track (upper right) had the video light go out on its own accord. So I said "light on" and then it turned back on. I had thought to cover both flaws with a full shot from one of the other tracks, but decided to take the easy way out and be real. Well it saved probably four hours of work as well. After a trip to the Hoover Dam, I noticed a dry lake bed just west and south of Boulder City Nevada and took Veterans Memorial Highway south towards Searchlight and took the third turnoff onto the flat. It was hot, windy and bright. In the two shot you can see a dust devil in the background going from left to right.
