I have some issues regarding this. One, that the trees being grown will die once this is done, and two, I have concerns about the pollutants absorbed being expired back into the environment or passed to natural trees and plants. However, I also think it is a unique way to clean up such sites that saves carbon in the long run. Of course, this method if determined to be feasible should not excuse such pollution from being continued or get any company off the hook for the pollution they have already caused.I have some issues regarding this. I am from Indianapolis Indiana. The city of Indians in the land of the Indians. At one time the population was rumored to be over 2,000,000 in the Ohio river valley with the bulk centered in the land that now is Indiana and Ohio. Many would be surprised to learn that there are still 40,000 Native Americans in Indiana and that there is also a growing populaiton of Indians of a diferent sort. East asian Indians and Sikhs in particular represent a growing percentage of the population and there are now over 10,000 in Indianapolis alone. The citys first public arts facility is earning our citys name by creating a celebration merging the two cultures for a true meeting of East and West. The exhibit will feature art from noted East Asian artists, cultural photography of both types of Indians, and Native American artifacts and regalia. The opening will feature Pow Wow dancers, Native American drumming and singing accompanied by world famous Bengali musician Badal Roy who is a Jazz/rock legend. Badal toured with bands like the Greatful Dead, played nine albums with Miles Davis, two with Ornette Coleman, One with Ritchie Havens, and also with Steve Gorn. Steve Gorn is a floutist and has played with Paul Simon, for this concert and his collaboration with Badal he is using his native east asian Bansuri flute. I am from Indianapolis Indiana. Centering prayer is a way to prepare your mind - to assist your body - in accomplishing goals - like fighting structural evil such as some corporations who care only about profit and not nature.
The goals of the non-profit Turtle island Project (TIP) include promoting respect for the environment and for Indigenous peoples - like the Celts, Native Americans and other Earth-based cultures.
Rev. Dr. George Cairns of Chesterton, Indiana explains what he learned from the founder of centering prayer - Father Thomas Keating.
A research professor of theology at the Chicago Theological Seminary, Dr. Cairns made his comments at the TIP first regional conference along the shores of Lake Superior in northern Michigan.
Dr. Cairns, who is the TIP co-founder and board president, is returning to Michigan's pristine Upper Peninsula on Fri., Nov. 9, 2007 to hold a free ecumenical retreat for clergy and others interested in interfaith prayer and creating social change.
Everyone is welcome at:
"Quest for Harmony: The Contemplation of Nature in the Christian Tradition promotes interfaith prayer and will examine Christian Celtic traditions" that will be held at Eden on the Bay Lutheran Church in Munising.
