Paris -- The EU Division of Standard & Poor’s has notched down France’s world-leading AAA Romance Rating, relegating the “land of love” to the bottom of the hotness heap when it comes to “lust, thrust, and overall mojo.”
“France’s sexual score has gone from being the firmest mankind has ever seen to shrinking down to a flaccid embarrassment,” an S&P spokeswoman said, citing her agency’s recently released report, which gave France a score of C-.
The S&P analysis pointed the finger at French males, emphasizing that French women are still among the most appealing in the world.
“It is the men who are having trouble holding their own,” the report said. “Or perhaps the trouble is that they’re holding their own too often.”
French President Nicolas Sarkozy blamed his nation’s financial crisis for the decline in its sexual prowess. “Frenchman no longer have access to the training opportunities they need to excel in this area. An encounter with an experienced Parisian prostitute costs upwards of €250, and that’s not including the mouthwash. Who can afford that?
“I myself have been setting an example for the nation even before I took office,” Sarkozy added. “In fact, this is the endeavor in which I have the most skill and expertise.”
But the S&P report stated that Sarkozy’s well known ability to screw the public is not an effective counterpoint to the country’s declining libido. Rather, it recommended that France look to China for a solution.
“The Chinese government has been restricting the collective sex drive of its citizens for years, under the guise of birth control,” the report said. “The pent-up result is straining many a zipper. Perhaps the French should order some Chinese takeout.”
Critics of the analysis, which included every French male over the age of 10, pointed out that Standard & Poor’s has absolutely no expertise in the field of human relationships. “That makes its ratings and recommendations in this area meaningless,” one dissatisfied customer said.
But the S&P spokeswoman disagreed: “We’ve been in bed with the world’s banking and financial leaders from the beginning. They’ve taught us a lot more than just fiscal intercourse.”Paris -- The EU Division of Standard & Poor’s has notched down... more

Ooh a hot blond man is stirring up quite a storm in France.
Ministers from Sarkozy's political party in the country have defended their decision to support the President's 23-year-old son’s bid for a big, responsible, senior job, despite him not yet being out of law school.
Sorbonne student, and blond Adonis, Jean has his dreamy eyes on being chairman of EPAD - the agency responsible for the running and development of Paris’ huge financial district La Defense.
But his bid has angered some people in France who see this as a blatant case of nepotism. One critic launched an online petition against the nomination, which had 8 thousand names by Monday night.
In this age of high unemployment particularly amongst the young, does this just feel like a kick in the teeth? Or has he as much right to bid for this role as anyone?Ooh a hot blond man is stirring up quite a storm in France.

India and France have signed a major co-operation pact which paves the way for the sale of French nuclear reactors to Delhi, officials say.
The nuclear accord was agreed in Paris between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Nicolas Sarkozy. The deal "will form the basis for enlarged bilateral co-operation in the fields of energy and research", the French presidency said in a statement. France is a leading world exporter of civilian nuclear technology.
The two leaders made no public comment after signing the deal. But a French presidential aide said that that "today we are at the intergovernmental stage, and after that the industrialists will begin their co-operation". Tuesday's signing comes after India and France agreed a Framework Agreement for Civil Nuclear Co-operation in January.
Reports say the deal includes providing India with France's latest model of the European Pressurised Reactor as well as other civilian nuclear material. Correspondents say that the deal is good news for India - which is desperately short of energy to fuel its booming economy - and places it firmly as a world nuclear power.
The deal in effect ends a ban which prevented countries from engaging in civilian nuclear trade with Delhi. The ban was imposed in 1974 when India used its civilian programme to produce and successfully test an atomic bomb. France is the world's second largest producer of nuclear energy after the United States.

The Dalai Lama has begun a 12-day visit to France by blessing a Buddhist institute on the edge of Paris.
The exiled spiritual Tibetan leader will spend most of the duration of the Olympics in France. Plans to meet President Nicolas Sarkozy were dropped, though the Dalai Lama will meet lawmakers on Wednesday. Beijing has accused the Dalai Lama of stirring up unrest in Tibet and warned Mr Sarkozy of "serious consequences" if he met him.
Members of the Buddhist leader's entourage said any plans for a meeting were shelved to avoid damage to talks between Tibetan and Chinese parties, according to AFP. The French president is trying to repair ties with China, damaged by his initial threat to boycott the opening of the Olympic Games and a series of pro-Tibet protests as the torch passed through the French capital.
Beijing has accused the Dalai Lama of fomenting unrest in Tibet but last week the 1989 Nobel peace prize-winner sent a message offering good wishes to the Chinese people ahead of the games. He repeated his message on Tuesday. "I fully support the Olympics in China... the People's Republic of China deserves to play host to the games," the Dalai Lama said as he left the Yiga Tcheudzine temple in Veneux-les-Sablons, south of Paris.
Later he gave a talk at a vast Vietnamese pagoda still under construction in Evry, south of Paris. He made no mention of Tibet. The Dalai Lama, who fled to India in 1959 amid an uprising against the Chinese military, has said he only wants limited autonomy for his homeland, but China accuses him of wanting independence for Tibet.

France's parliament has passed a law which effectively ends the country's compulsory 35-hour working week, the BBC reports.
" The new law will allow companies to strike individual deals with unions on working hours and overtime.
Since coming into office last year, President Nicolas Sarkozy has blamed the 35-hour week for damaging France's economic competitiveness.
Introduced 10 years ago by the then Socialist government, polls show most French still support the 35-hour week."
What would you rather? A statutory 35-hour working week (that's just seven hours a day!) so you didn't have to feel bad for wanting a life as well as a career, or a fiercely competitive stake in the world market?
