Is water a human right, or merely just another commodity to be traded on the global markets? To companies like Suez it is a commodity to be used for its own profit at the expense of the poor... to millions around the globe from Stockton, California to Bolivia however, it is what it rightfully should be: a human right, and a right worth fighting for. This documentary is a truthful depiction of the corporatization of that human right and a look at those citizens who are fighting back. I highly recommend it. Just today I read that Suez is looking for a chunk of water in Southwestern China to privatize to add to its other conquests. These companies are loving the water shortages as they seek to gain profit from them. We the people however, must stand up for our right to water because it is as essential to us as Democracy... which we also thirst for. Is water a human right, or merely just another commodity to be traded on the global... more

Struggles? After occupying their country for over four years it is still a "struggle?" After bombarding their country in "shock and awe" and more than likely blowing up any water supplies they had, it is a "struggle?" Sorry, I don't believe for a second that they care about Iraqi people having water or that it is a struggle for anyone there but the people of Iraq to survive. I do however believe those who continue to use Iraq as a cash cow care about the ton of money they will make from building these huge plants that I am sure people will have to pay dearly for after having to deal with them "struggling" to fix what they more than likely destroyed for Bechtel./////

And of course we see the World Bank involved in this. How soon before Atlanta's water is the same? ENRON was already in Texas years ago before their "fall." Just how much will rich bastards like the Bushes and others control before the boom is lowered regarding our water resources because people are more interested in their distractions than heeding the warnings and the clear signs and do all they can to conserve this resource and hold corporations accountable for sucking this Earth dry?///// This isn't going to go away if we just sit and do nothing. Do you even know who really owns your water? I have to give credit to the people of South America. At least they fight for what they consider to be important, uinlike here where it appears the majority don't care as long as it comes out of the tap, and even if it didn't, would rather spend 5.00 for a crappy bottle of reprocessed tap water than admit they have to do something about it.///// Perhaps should the same scenario happen here over a great swath of this country and we are all paying Coca Cola through the nose for our water, people on the whole will understand what we are allowing to take place elsewhere in this world. I have said it before and I will say it again, the World Bank needs to be investigated for the "loans" they give to these poor countries based on the stipulations attached to them that keep them in debt and do nothing to give therm opportunity or true control of their resources. Water is a human right, and it is time to stand up for it all over this world before the haves own it all and we are paying through the nose for even one drop. And of course we see the World Bank involved in this. How soon before Atlanta's... more

As people in places like Ethiopia, Kenya, and other water scarce areas dig deeper into the ground searching for even a drop to sustain themselves, we here in America guzzle millions of gallons of water a year without giving a thought to where it comes from and the affect it has on our world. We can no longer afford to continue down that path.As people in places like Ethiopia, Kenya, and other water scarce areas dig deeper into... more

One of the most infamous moments in Congressional history. These greedy bastards one by one denied that nicotine was addictive knowing full well it was... just as "deniers" of anthropogenic climate change continue that tradition now to the detriment of this planet to protect their balance sheets. And some of the biggest climate change deniers like Fred S, Singer were actually tied with tobacco companies like Phillip Morris as well. It is the same thing regarding the oil companies like Exxon which is spending millions on a misinsformation campaign regarding global warming, and the billions spent by big tobacco to hide their deadly secret as well. Thank God we have people willing to put the truth out here. One of the most infamous moments in Congressional history. These greedy bastards one... more

As if those disastrous California fires weren't bad enough, watch this poor couple whose house had just burned down describe how AT&T demanded $300 for the AT&T satellite receiver that had also burned in the conflagration.
Apparently the company is planning to respond to this and possibly modify the charge, but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't. Click on the link to see the video clip.As if those disastrous California fires weren't bad enough, watch this poor... more

Counting on how comfortable and selfish the majority of Americans are will only enable those who seek to keep us slaves to oil.
http://www.dawn.com/2007/10/23/top6.htm
And according to reports, oil output will drop to half by 2030. So unless we begin to demand alternate energies and more efficient fuel standards along with innovations that do not require fossil fuels to run our cars not in ten years but NOW, not only will society break down due to the continued wars over this resource as population continues to rise, but it is also predicted that around that time at current pace we will be seeing wars over an even more precious resource: water. No wonder Bush bought a huge tract of land in Paraguay right next to the Guarini Acquifer and with a military base not far from it. The "leaders" of this world already know what is coming and they are getting theirs first. So for those who say only government can solve this climate crisis, you are wrong. Unless people themselves work to make governments less corrupt and do what is necessary to bring us into the future, they won't on the whole do it as long as not doing it is more profitable for them and their benefactors. I truly do believe gas could go up to five dollars or more a gallon in this country and people would still continue to do exactly as they are doing now while bitching the whole way to the gas station to fill up their SUVs to go to the mall... never realizing that they have within them the power to force these companies to either do right or force them into bankruptcy. I don't know, sometimes I wonder if seeing it all fall apart is exactly what we need to wake us the hell up... even if that would then mean it is really too late to do anything about it.Counting on how comfortable and selfish the majority of Americans are will only enable... more

"But how do the Backstreet Boys, the first, if not best, of the all-male pop groups to dominate the latter half of the '90s and early '00s, fit in among the roster of current hitmakers? The niche the group helped pioneer is slim, if not altogether nonexistent. Can they remain relevant to a new generation of consumers as well as to one-time fans who might have moved on?"
