Challenger explosion The Story Of the Space Shuttle-Challenger explosion, Today is the news about the Challenger explosion or disaster buzzing on the internet these day. As it is the 28th January and is the 25th anniversary of the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger, one of those tragedies that brings back a "where were you" rush of memory. I was in Richmond, a reporter covering the Virginia General Assembly, when I heard the news on television. Like the rest of the world, I was riveted by the tragedy, which occurred a mere 73 seconds into the the flight, and claimed seven lives, including a young teacher, Christa McAuliffe. To read more about the disaster, check out this NASA website, or these books,"Truth, Lies, and O-Rings: Inside the Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster" by Allan J McDonald and James R. Hansen.

Is this a part of power and money and greed, not to mention that our nation is in the stage of depression we are currently looking at the down fall of America. There are so many reasons why this is happening but we have to go deep as to what is really going on lets start getting into what is happening all over the world this is about money but it goes deeper then money. We have a secret societies running our nation and our military.
Take a look at this video and watch the whole thing before you decide to make an opinion this is one of the best stories I have seen by far on what really happened to John F. Kennedy and no one really address's this issue til this day. Why? Because we are a nation of acceptance and not willing to fight for our freedom. We have people on TV who want to run our country and saying I'am not a witch. I would have never believed politics has gone into the dog house. We have no real leaders. President's are fakes and actors is what they are we are better off just watching television and just not even voting anymore it's a joke people election is a selection now. a rigged voting system is what we are watching. We are getting the tail end of a fake story. Is this a part of power and money and greed, not to mention that our nation is in the... more

NASA may not be an agency known for its commitment to aesthetic filmmaking, but they've managed to produce one of the most beautiful clips of footage I've watched in years.
The film below is a space shuttle launch from the perspective of a solid rocket booster, one of the giant white rockets attached to the belly of the shuttle during its ascent. Thanks to a tiny camera and contact microphone attached its frame, you can ride along with it as it sends the shuttle into orbit, then free falls back to earth. There's not much going on visually until the boosters separate at about the two-minute mark--but after that, it's a film even Stanley Kubrick would be proud of.
This clip was shot during STS-124, a mission flown by the shuttle Atlantis to deliver a new Japanese module to the International Space Station.NASA may not be an agency known for its commitment to aesthetic filmmaking, but... more

Beautiful images, beautiful launches and awesome new features on your SpacePod for June 30th, 2010
Lets take a look at some stunning images, shall we? We start or journey with an amazing picture taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter or LRO. With the Wide Angle Camera pointed at Earth, the LRO team took this awesome view of our home planet. The top right of the picture at around 2:00 is the North Pole. You can also see Japan and Australia from here. I think I see a desktop wallpaper being generated out of this. Oh wait, we already did that. Head over to the Wallpapers, Ringtones and Downloads section of Spacevidcast to grab that one.
Here is an amazing shot of an F-15 in the sky. What makes this space related? If you look at the bottom of the picture you can make out both Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Launch Pads, 39A and B. These images were taken by John Peltier and look just... WAIT... IS THAT A SHUTTLE LAUNCHING? Yes, if I'm not mistaken that's Space Shuttle Atlantis on STS-132. If you look veeeery closely you can see the Spacevidcast media tent. OK, maybe not. These photos are just too good for desktop wallpapers, these are for framing. And if you want to get your own print copy you can do that at the URL on your screen. Prices start at around $8.00 US and I think this would make a great addition to your space gallery.
We've all seen the Falcon 9 launch video before, but most sites, including our own only had low quality SD from the launch itself that buffered and buffered and buffered. Fortunately SpaceX has released this epic video in HD of the launch itself.
Speaking of SpaceX, Falcon 9 flight 2 is coming along nicely. On June 27th, 2010 in McGregor Texas SpaceX performed a 40 second static firing test of the next 9 Merlin engines to be used on the first stage of Falcon 9 Flight 2. Say that three times fast!
I don't know about you, but I was just waiting for the entire structure to just rip from the ground and launch to space. Falcon 9 Flight 2 is currently scheduled to lift of in the future... some time. Maybe Quarter 3 of this year?
And finally, some awesome news for you Roku owners out there. Spacevidcast now has our own channel! Thanks in no small part, and by no small part I mean entirely to Todd the Moon... er... Pete Riesett. Now if you want to watch Spacevidcast on your HDTV at home, you can with ease. Just pick up this $99 box and hook it up to your broadband Internet connection and HDTV. Install the FREE Spacevidcast channel and you can watch our live channel, NASA TV live, our all new live feed from the International Space Station, Space Pods and Archived live shows right from the comfort of your living room. This thing is beyond awesome. Nearly 3,500 space tweeps have already installed the Spacevidcast channel in the first week! If you don't already have a Roku box, go pick one up using the link on the screen. Not only can you get your Spacevidcast fix, but you can also get Netflix streaming, Amazon On-Demand and a slew of other awesome channels. Please don't forget to rate our channel while you're at it. Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off today on its final flight, and all along the nearby Florida coast, people watched, applauded, and mourned.
Atlantis is on a 12-day mission to deliver supplies to the International Space Station.. There are only two more scheduled launches after it before U.S. astronauts begin hitching rides aboard Russian Soyuz spacecraft… launched from Kazakhstan.
That will mean difficult changes for thousands of people in Florida; they have lived off of the shuttle program since the first flight in 1981.
Driving down the broad highways here along the Space Coast, you'll pass the Space Shuttle Inn. The main drag in Cape Canaveral is called Astronauts Boulevard – though forget about finding a room there the night before a shuttle launch. Pushing on to the Kennedy Space Center on Florida's route 3, you'll shoot by Shuttle's Dugout Bar and Grill.
Or stop in for a drink. Outside there is a 14-foot-long exact replica of the space shuttle pointing skyward. Its owner, Bill Grillo, like so many other businesspeople here who've sunk their life savings into all-things-shuttle, is nervous.
"If the shuttle program were shut down tomorrow, I'd lose 60 percent of my business," he said. "We are definitely going to feel the pinch." He's invested heavily in Shuttle's, its sister restaurant of the same name a few miles down the road, and a nightclub -- called Space Station.
The establishment's walls are plastered with space memorabilia. Grillo has the autographed pictures of every U.S. astronaut who launched into space, many of whom have lunched here.
It's estimated up to 300,000 spectators turned out to watch, lining the beaches and swamps here in central Florida – nearly five times more than have turned out for previous launches.
Grillo says he feels confident of President Obama's plan to revitalize the Space Coast. "I believe NASA and the president will find a way to keep people here employed." The alternative, he said, is too desperate to think about.
A Matter of Money, and Love
That doesn't stop bartender Bobby Bremmer from doing it. "When the shuttle goes," he said, "it'll probably put a hole in my pocket. My mom, who works at the space center, is looking for a job already. My parents have already sold their home."
For some, like Conrad Nagel, the process flow manager for Atlantis for 13 years, this is isn't about business, but about love.
"I remember the day, 25 years ago, when Atlantis arrived. It was right out of the factory, it comes in here. And it is all shiny and new. If you can imagine a new car, and how excited you get about a new car, you can imagine how excited you get about a new spaceship."Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off today on its final flight, and all along the nearby... more
