Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. said Ferhani and Moroccan pal Mamdouh were to sneak into 'a major synagogue in Manhattan' disguised as Hasidic Jews, complete with 'peyot', or side curls, and beards.
He said: 'He [Ferhani] was committed to violent jihad, and his plan became bigger and more violent with each passing week.'
Mamdouh, of Moroccan descent and Ferhani, of Algerian descent, were arrested late on Tuesday night allegedly trying to buy weapons in exchange for drugs. It was during the sting that one of the suspects confessed to the plot the kill Jews, the court heard.
One of the terror suspects arrested for allegedly planning to attack New York synagogues dressed as a Hasidic Jew used to work as a make-up salesman for Saks Fifth Avenue, it has emerged.
27-year-old Ahmed Ferhani, who quit his job to try to become a male model, was caught with taxi dispatcher Mohammad Mamdouh, 20, on Tuesday night in a dramatic police sting operation as they tried to acquire a fearsome arsenal of weapons from an undercover NYPD officer.
One of the suspects is a U.S. citizen and the other is a legal resident. Both already had weapons in their possession, police said.
It emerged today that both had been arrested for robbery last year. Ferhani has a criminal record for narcotics, and was allegedly trying to sell drugs to fund the gun deal.
Described as the alleged ringleader of the attack, he moved to America in 1995 when his family sought asylum from war-torn Algeria. He went on to work as a cosmetics salesman at Saks Fifth Avenue, but had been known to police for some time.
Yesterday, Ferhani's father, J. Ferhani, insisted his son was not an extremist, instead describing him as a wannabe model who drank alcohol and had a Christian girlfriend.
He told the New York Times his son was 'a good kid' who 'got involved with a bad kid'.
'He doesn't pray, he drinks,' he added.
Neighbours of Ferhani doubted he was capable of such an act, and described the pair as 'knuckleheads'.Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. said Ferhani and Moroccan pal Mamdouh were to... more

Al-Qaeda has launched a women's magazine that mixes beauty and fashion tips with advice on suicide bombings.
Dubbed "Jihad Cosmo", the glossy magazine's front cover features the barrel of a sub-machine gun next to a picture a woman in a veil.
There are exclusive interviews with martyrs' wives, who praise their husbands' decisions to die in suicide attacks.
The slick, 31-page Al-Shamikha magazine - meaning The Majestic Woman - has advice for singletons on "marrying a mujahideen". Readers are told it is their duty to raise children to be mujahideen ready for jihad.
The "beauty column" instructs women to stay indoors with their faces covered to keep a "clear complexion". They should "not go out except when necessary" and wear a niqab for "rewards by complying with the command of Allah Almighty".
Another article urges readers to give their lives for the Islamist cause. It advises: "From martyrdom, the believer will gain security, safety and happiness."
More traditional content for a women's magazine includes features on the merits of honey facemasks, etiquette, first aid and why readers should avoid "towelling too forcibly".
The first issue's editorial explains that the magazine's goal is to educate women and involve them in the war against the enemies of Islam. It says: "Because women constitute half of the population - and one might even say that they are the population since they give birth to the next generation - the enemies of Islam are bent on preventing the Muslim woman from knowing the truth about her religion and her role, since they know all too well what would happen if women entered the field of jihad."
The launch of Al-Shamikha comes nine months after al Qa'ida launched an English-language glossy, Inspire, a magazine targeting young Muslims in the West whom it hopes to incite to acts of terrorism.
Inspire is believed to be edited by a US citizen-turned-militant, Samir Khan, currently in hiding in Yemen. Before fleeing the US, Khan turned out a series of jihadi magazines called Jihad Recollections which, like Inspire, were trumpeted by cyber jihadis across the web.

The Bush administration's torture program was a beacon for Islamic extremists seeking to recruit fellow fighters in the war against America and its allies, a leaked diplomatic cable has shown.
A State Department document released by whistleblower website WikiLeaks, detailing discussions between Saudi Arabia and US Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, noted that the Saudis arrested some 250 men on their way to join extremists in Afghanistan.
http://213.251.145.96/cable/2009/05/09RIYADH670.html
The cable specifically noted the men were inspired to take up arms by stories and photos of the ghastly torture carried out at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, where prisoners and in some cases their family members -- including children -- were raped, tortured and killed by Americans.
It reads:
> Holbrooke explained that President Obama had decided to oppose release of 2000
> photographs of U.S. interrogations of terrorist suspects on grounds of national security,
> and asked what the Saudi public reaction would be to publication of these photos. MbN
> responded "You bet!" it would be bad for security, and noted that following publication
> of the first Abu Ghraib photos, Saudi authorities had arrested 250 individuals trying to
> leave Saudi Arabia to join extremist groups in Afghanistan. Release of more pictures
> would give AQ "the favor of their life," said the Prince. Saudi Arabia had fought very
> hard to defeat AQ on the Internet, but he couldn,t [sic] see how to fight 2000 new
> photos.
Critics of the Bush administration's torture program long argued that it served as a recruiting tool for terrorists, but this would seem to be the first official confirmation of that hyperbole translating directly into fact.
President Obama mid-way through 2009 grappled with a court order to release some 2,000 photos of abuses carried out on terror war prisoners, but they were ultimately suppressed. The president's military advisers had pleaded with him to keep the photos under wraps
Obama said releasing the photos, which were used as evidence in criminal investigations of US soldiers accused of abusing detainees during George W. Bush’s administration, would "inflame anti-American opinion and put our troops in greater danger" without shedding any new light on past abuses.
"The publication of these photos would not add any additional benefits to our understanding of what was carried out in the past by a small number of individuals," he told reporters.
Human rights groups condemned the decision.
“The Obama administration’s adoption of the stonewalling tactics and opaque policies of the Bush administration flies in the face of the president’s stated desire to restore the rule of law, to revive our moral standing in the world and to lead a transparent government,” said ACLU executive director Anthony Romero.
"When these photos do see the light of day, the outrage will focus not only on the commission of torture by the Bush administration but on the Obama administration’s complicity in covering them up."
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2010/12/obama-spain-bush-torture-prosecution/
But Obama countered that the photos were "not particularly sensational, especially when compared to the painful images that we remember from Abu Ghraib."
President Bush and former Vice President Cheney have both said publicly that they authorized the use of torture. While a violation of national and international law, including treaties the US is signatory to, the Obama administration worked with congressional Republicans to stifle inquiries into the Bush torture program, according to another cable recently released by WikiLeaks.
As a Senator and candidate for the presidency, Obama decried the Bush torture program and said he would ensure its end as president. The Bush administration had argued against the release of the photos in part by saying it would violate the privacy rights of detainees under the Geneva Conventions. The same treaty explicitly forbids torture. The Bush administration's torture program was a beacon for Islamic extremists... more

If you have not viewed nor read the debate which took place in Toronto this past Friday evening, I urge you to set aside 90 minutes to view it. I have all nine videos up on my blog, Women's Lens, on which you can click to view, or you can watch all of them on Youtube; there are nine segments of approximately 14 minutes each save for the last one which is under 7 minutes.
You may not think that the topic is relevant to foreign policy, but in today's world, religion is at the core of most conflicts. It will be hard not to prejudice you one way or the other by writing this article, but just the same, you can arrive at your own conclusions.
For good measure, I have included one of the videos, # 7, with the article as it deals with the Middle East, which is undoubtedly one of the most heated controversies in the world today. I was shocked to hear Blair say that the problem was not one of religion, but rather politics. The Hitchens response is priceless. If you have not viewed nor read the debate which took place in Toronto this past... more

Three miles across London from the Armistice Day ceremony at the Cenotaph, another face of Britain was on display. It was contorted with hatred, poisoned by politics, and fuelled by flames from a giant, burning poppy.
These were the Muslim extremists who brought shame to the memory of the dead yesterday by breaking the traditional two-minute silence with chants of ‘British soldiers burn in hell’.
Ironically, it was the freedom for which thousands fought that allowed them to stage their demonstration at the stroke of 11am – the exact moment the nation came to a halt at the Cenotaph, across the country, and after parallel services at British bases in Afghanistan.
The protesters were even given a police escort to their protest venue near the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington, thankfully the closest they were allowed to the focal point of Britain’s remembrance tribute yesterday.
War, inevitably, linked the two events, yet they could hardly have been more different. At one, violence and venom. At the other, dignity and deference.Three miles across London from the Armistice Day ceremony at the Cenotaph, another... more

PLEASE NOTE: This video contains material that might be disturbing to some... Especially if you're a gullible idiot parading in the street after being brain washed by petro-dollar backed propaganda.
What happens when propaganda blurs the lines and blinds the public? What happens when are deliberately concealing the truth. Hamas is terror organization working on two fronts. One is against Israel and the IDF, the other is against their own people in Gaza. If you're a Palestinian in Gaza, after Hamas took over violently, you better not be supporter of Fatah, you better not be gay, you better abide to Sharia and attended only the mosques approved by your government.
It makes one wonder, where are all those protesters when Hamas is killing their own? Why aren't they shouting hatefully in the streets? Well, you better ask them, or god forbid - ask yourself.PLEASE NOTE: This video contains material that might be disturbing to some...... more

The future is here. It’s just not widely distributed yet.
–Far-left writer and Vietnam War draft-dodger William Gibson.
I hate to agree with a far lefty draft-dodger, but as they say, a broken clock is correct twice a day. After 9/11, a few astute souls said that Islam is at war against America, while America is at the mall. I would add . . . America is also mindlessly watching the boob tube and keeping up with the Kardashians and the bad Madonna imitation, Lady Gaga, and the idiots on “Jersey Shore.” Even People Magazine stepped down a few notches, once written at a sixth grade level, it’s now largely just a picture book for those at the pre-school baby mama reading level. And last night’s MTV Video Music Awards is a great example. MTV no longer plays videos, and it’s hard to call what populates the “winning” videos, “music.” Yet, while we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam–fighting for our survival, America’s future and its present are obsessed with Lady Gaga’s “give-me-attention” meat suit and her panoply of similar “acts.”
I’d venture to guess that fewer than a tenth of a percent of Americans under 30 could tell you what jihad is or anything about Islamic footbaths and mosques and other such religious encroachments and fatal dangers imposed upon America by the falsely-named “Religion of Peace.” But a huge chunk, probably well more than 30%–maybe upward of 50%–know every detail of Kim Kardashian’s and Snooki’s dating lives, not to mention, “The Situation.” (If you don’t know who these people are, I have mucho respect for you.) Far more Americans know about Lady Gaga’s meat dress than those who know the details of Undiebomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab or his guru–guru to the jihad stars–Anwar Al-Awlaki. Both Gaga and Awlaki are unoriginal in their provocations, but one is more worthy of our attention than the other. And it’s, sadly, not where our attention lies. Not even close.
And even those few young people who know about jihad and Islam have been mostly brainwashed. They’ve been taught to eat a diet of PC along with Lady Gaga’s meat dress. They don’t know–and won’t ever admit until it’s too late–that yes, we are fighting Islam. NOT Al-Qaeda or a few “hijackers who hijacked a religion,” but a religion that has hijacked the majority of its followers to embrace extremism.
Sorry, Barack Hussein Obama, but Al-Qaeda is not the enemy. It’s just a tiny component of the enemy. Hezbollah is the enemy. HAMAS is the enemy. Islamic Jihad and Al Shabaab are the enemy. “Lone,” “mentally unstable” Muslims bombing Americans and other innocents or trying to . . . or driving their cars into crowds of American college students or giant box hardward retailers in America–they are the enemy. And they have two things in common: Islam, and the moral and emotional support of the majority of Muslims in this world. The future is here. It’s just not widely distributed yet.

Vanguard correspondent Christof Putzel has reported on the failed state of Somalia since 2006 -- but the chaos in the east African nation dates back almost 20 years. Fighting between forces of the Transitional Federal Government and terrorist group Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu continues. More than 230 civilians were killed and at least 400 more were wounded over a two week period.
In this exclusive update, Christof breaks down the current situation in Somalia and talks about why Al-Shabaab -- which has claimed responsibility for both a major suicide attack in Somalia that targeted members of parliament and a bombing at a popular expatriate cafe in Uganda during the World Cup -- should be taken very seriously.
"Vanguard," airing weekly on Current TV Wednesdays at 10/9c, is a no-limits documentary series whose award-winning correspondents put themselves in extraordinary situations to immerse viewers in global issues that have a large social significance. Unlike sound-bite driven reporting, the show's correspondents, Adam Yamaguchi, Kaj Larsen, Christof Putzel and Mariana van Zeller, serve as trusted guides who take viewers on in-depth real life adventures in pursuit of some of the world's most important stories.
