At least one person in the White House knew about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives gun-running operation three months before weapons from the botched sting were found at the murder scene of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.
That’s what a high-ranking ATF official told Congress on Tuesday.
William Newell, the former ATF special agent in charge of the Phoenix field office, told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that he communicated with Kevin O'Reilly, a staffer on President Obama’s National Security Council, about Operation Fast and Furious in September 2010.
At a June 29, 2011 press conference, Obama told reporters, “As you know, my attorney general has made clear he certainly would not have ordered gun running to pass through into Mexico.”
Obama noted that an investigation conducted by the Justice Department’s inspector-general is still ongoing. “I’m not going to comment on the current investigation. I’ve made very clear my views that that would not be an appropriate step by the ATF, and we’ve got to find out how that happened. Not one in 1,000 Americans knows this story. but it's absolutely true that the US imported thousands of Nazi criminals after World War II. But this is by no means the whole story or even the real one. Two major flaws in the story:
1. The US and Soviets were allies during World War II. We knew more about the details of Soviet military power than the Nazis did because we helped build the Soviet war machine (and with our help they were even more productive in turning out war materials than we were.) We were not "desperate" for Nazi intelligence on the Soviets.
2. The real reason for importing so many Nazis after the war was to keep a lid on the close alliance the Rockefeller, DuPont, Harriman, Bush families etc. had with the Nazis before, during, and after World War II.
Allen Dulles, who ran the Nazi importation program and helped keep it covered up, was, along with his brother John Foster Dulles, a lead attorney for the Rockefellers, DuPonts, Harrimans et. al.
German General Gehlen was a criminal, but only a minor player in the real story. The idea that he somehow "controlled" the CIA is total bullshit. He did exactly what Allen Dulles wanted him to do and would have been dead the second he stopped playing.

The Justice Department has opened full criminal investigations of the deaths in CIA custody of two detainees, including one who perished at Iraq’s notorious Abu Ghraib prison, U.S. officials said Thursday.
The decision, announced by Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., means continued legal jeopardy for several CIA operatives but at the same time closes the book on inquiries that potentially threatened many others. A federal prosecutor reviewed 101 cases in which agency officers and contractors interrogated suspected terrorists during years of military action after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks but found cause to pursue criminal cases in only two.
Many of the other suspected terrorists were subjected to harsh interrogation techniques that provoked divisive national debate, with some calling the techniques legal and necessary and others shunning them as government-sanctioned torture.
“On this, my last day as director, I welcome the news that the broader inquiries are behind us,” said a statement from CIA Director Leon Panetta, who will take over as defense secretary on Friday. “We are now finally about to close this chapter of our agency’s history.”
The Justice Department did not say which cases are being investigated, but U.S. officials said they are the death of an Afghan, Gul Rahman, in 2002 at a prison known as the Salt Pit in Afghanistan, and that of an Iraqi, Manadel al-Jamadi, who was questioned by three CIA officers at Abu Ghraib in 2003.
In the case involving the Salt Pit, known as a “black site” because the U.S. government did not officially acknowledge its existence, a CIA officer allegedly ordered Afghan guards in November 2002 to strip Rahman and chain him to the concrete floor of his cell. Temperatures plunged overnight, and Rahman froze to death. Hypothermia was listed as the cause of death and Rahman was buried in an unmarked grave.
Jamadi, the Iraqi, was captured on Nov. 4, 2003, by a Navy SEAL team hunting a terrorist cell thought to be responsible for a bombing in Baghdad. After initial interrogation efforts, he was transferred into CIA custody and was taken to Abu Ghraib. There he was hooded, placed in an orange jumpsuit and shackled to window bars in a shower room, where he died.
Jamadi’s body was put on ice to preserve it for autopsy. U.S. soldiers posed for photographs with the body — including some in which they gave the thumbs-up sign — provoking international outrage when news organizations showed the images.
The Jamadi case has been moving before a grand jury in Alexandria in recent weeks, according to people familiar with the proceedings who spoke on the condition of anonymity because grand jury deliberations are secret. Members of the military who worked at Abu Ghraib around the time of Jamadi’s death faced questions that largely focused on the circumstances of the death and what the CIA’s involvement was in capturing, transporting and interrogating him at the prison.
A CIA officer at Abu Ghraib who was in charge of extracting actionable intelligence from detainees was withdrawn from Iraq after the death, according to a former intelligence official, who, like several officials quoted in this article, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters. The U.S. has decided to formally resume contact with Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood group - which does not recognize Israel – in a move that could further alienate some Jewish voters already skeptical of President Barack Obama, it was reported.

Information leaked from government hacked websites reveal that the US domestic spy program has infiltrated every facet of our society both online and offline. The information revealed in the data leaks reveal that companies that we use on a daily basis and have come to rely on in our modern society, companies that we would never suspect, are in spying on us for the FBI. A 19-year-old guy suspected of being one of the masterminds behind the now notorious international computer hacking group LulzSec, has been arrested in Essex by after a joint operation by the FBI and Scotland Yard.
The arrest comes the day after the group hacked the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), the UK national law enforcement unit dubbed the 'British FBI'. The crime busting organisation was forced to take its website offline late on Monday after it was targeted with a DDoS attack by the notorious internet group. The website was still down early on Tuesday morning but is now back up.
In a message posted on Twitter on Monday, LulzSec said: "Tango down – soca.gov.uk – in the name of #AntiSec." The group later added: "DDoS is of course our least powerful and most abundant ammunition. Government hacking is taking place right now behind the scenes. #AntiSec."
It is thought to be the first time a British law enforcement website has been crippled by the group, which has previously attacked sites belonging to the US Senate, the CIA, as well as the games firms Nintendo and Sony.
The teenager is being questioned under the Computer Misuse Act and Fraud Act.
He was arrested by officers from the force's e-crime unit. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The arrest follows an investigation into network intrusions and distributed denial of service attacks against a number of international business and intelligence agencies by what is believed to be the same hacking group.
"Searches at a residential address in Wickford, Essex, following the arrest last night have led to the examination of a significant amount of material.
"These forensic examinations remain ongoing."
The Met and Essex Police are working "in cooperation" with the FBI, the spokesman said.
The teenager remains in custody at a central London police station.
Only a few days ago the group claimed it brought down the US Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) website.
The alleged hack on CIA.gov occurred on the same day the group opened a telephone request line so its fans could suggest potential targets.
On Twitter, the group wrote: "Tango down - CIA.gov - for the lulz".

(CNN) -- They've breached or busted the websites of the CIA, PBS and the U.S. Senate, and launched at least part of an extended attack on Sony, whose PlayStation Network was brought to a grinding halt for the better part of a month.
And, to hear them tell it, it's all for a laugh.
Meet Lulz Security, or LulzSec, the gleeful and secretive band of hackers who appear to be responsible for a string of high-profile and sometimes embarrassing Internet attacks.
Their most recent strike, and arguably the most ambitious, was a distributed denial-of-service attack Wednesday that shut down the Central Intelligence Agency's website for a couple of hours.
A DDoS attack is fairly easy with the right software. But the group has also hacked into sites ranging from Sony Pictures to porn sites, often publishing the passwords and other personal information they find.
Instead of hiding in the dark shadows of the Internet, they are front-and-center on an active Twitter feed fueled with taunts, crude jokes and hints about future attacks.
For those who don't speak the language, "lulz" is an offshoot of "LOL," webspeak for laughing out loud. Think of it as a substitute for "just for a laugh."
"Lulz Security, where the entertainment is always at your expense, whether you realize it or not," read a recent post on the account. "Wrecking your infrastructures since 2011."
Analysts said the group appears to be some sort of spin-off of "Anonymous," the loose coalition of hackers that formed in support of whistle-blower site WikiLeaks.
But while Anonymous has its own set of moral codes and is largely politically motivated, LulzSec tends to be random.
For every hack like the one on PBS, which the group said came out of anger over a documentary about WikiLeaks, there's the cracking of porn site pron.com -- and a subsequent public list of members' e-mail addresses and passwords.
Breaches are often followed by cautionary notes: Some have even denigrated their own hacking abilities, saying the sites they targeted were incredibly easy to penetrate.
"These seem like they're probably some kids in the garage or something that are just having fun," said David Gorodyansky, CEO and co-founder of security software firm AnchorFree.
A request for comment sent to the group's Twitter account was not returned Thursday.
Click on the group's website and the theme song from "The Love Boat" plays over an image of what the group calls "The Lulz Boat." The logo is a cartoon dandy in top hat, monocle and handlebar mustache.
But if the attitude is lighthearted (They've even set up a request line with a 614 Columbus, Ohio, area code, to solicit future target suggestions), the consequences can be serious.
For example, on Thursday LulzSec posted what it said were 62,000 e-mails and their passwords, gleaned from unknown sources (Gizmodo has posted a tool to help discover if your account is one of them).
Afterward, they retweeted messages from several followers who bragged they'd gotten access to PayPal, Amazon, Facebook and other accounts from the list.
One follower claimed to have hacked into a woman's Facebook account and broken up with her boyfriend.
It's unclear whether LulzSec members played a role in the Sony PlayStation Network breach that compromised the information of 77 million users. But they've posted on their website what they claim is proprietary information from Sony Pictures and other Sony properties' websites.
After the U.S. Senate breach, LulzSec posted what it called a "just-for-kicks" release of some internal data.
"We don't like the US government very much," it wrote. "Their boats are weak, their lulz are low, and their sites aren't very secure. In an attempt to help them fix their issues, we've decided to donate additional lulz in the form of owning them some more!"
To help avoid such attacks, Gorodyansky suggested website owners make sure to encrypt them. Using Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https), instead of the "http" that most sites use, makes data more difficult to obtain.
He also urged organizations, businesses and governments to make sure they are running the latest updates, or firmware, for their security tools.
"You may have the latest and most expensive equipment, but if you don't update the firmware as soon as it comes out, it's very easy for the hackers to exploit," he said.Hackers temporarily down CIA website... more

From September 2002 through January 2003 I was an Observer and International Consultant with the UN/FAO in Iraq. I was arrested one night crossing a bridge from the south side of the Tigris to the north in Al Hindia. I was captured wearing Iraqi clothing by a sentry hidden under the structural steel half way across. I speak fluent Iraqi Arabic. Because I was carrying my UN ID they were very polite to me. They apologised and said I had to wait for a 4 star Police General to let me go. Meanwhile they brought me tea and biscuits.
Later on one of my UN associates suspected I was with the CIA. He started a campaign among his associates to have me killed. The Director of the UN FAO Mission was from the same country he was and overheard their plotting to kill me. He arranged to have a decoy taxi drive to another hotel where they let out disinformation to the people plotting my death that led them there. Meanwhile about two hours later after they took the bait a private car drove me out through the back roads of Jordan.
Since 1974 I have been involved in many such operations and lived 5 years in Algeria in Oran looking over the Soviet Navy there and a submarine base inside the mountain west of the city. I used to get corroborating information from the women in Derbe a huge brothel in the west side of Oran that used to be the Jewish Quarter before 1967.
One day I was looking for a contact who didn't show up in the brothel. I lingered a bit too long and a seven foot tall Watusi woman appeared from the shadows and took my left biceps in her hand like a pencil. She whisked me into the street in a few steps as if I was an 8 year old child.
I actually started my career by going after the Children of God in British Columbia, Canada and met Moses Davis in the basement of the Nanaimo Crisis Center where a lawyer from the Government Human Resources Department was grilling Moe on his getting a check for $2 million for them to buy an old Orange Crush Factory. It was all a part of the drug business as the Children of God provided mules worldwide. My cover got blown and I escaped miraculously after being held from January to March, 1975 in my own home drugged and sitting in a chair. To keep from losing my mind I practiced math and chemistry problems in my head.

DME is used in China and India as a repacement for diesel. It burns soot free and is easily applied to all vehicles and can be generated quite cheaply from even low quality coal. I also have developed patents in the oxidative and steam hydrogasification of coal with 100% CO2 capture. Now, heading toward Election 2012, the Republicans appear poised to make the U.S. economy “scream,” observes Robert Parry.

Modern Republicans have a simple approach to politics when they are not in the White House: Make America as ungovernable as possible by using almost any means available, from challenging the legitimacy of opponents to spreading lies and disinformation to sabotaging the economy.
Over the past four decades or so, the Republicans have simply not played by the old give-and-take rules of politics. Indeed, if one were to step back and assess this Republican approach, what you would see is something akin to how the CIA has destabilized target countries, especially those that seek to organize themselves in defiance of Capitalist Orthodoxy.
To stop this spread of “socialism,” nearly anything goes. Take, for example, Chile in the early 1970s when socialist President Salvador Allende won an election and took steps aimed at improving the conditions of the country’s poor.
Under the direction of President Richard Nixon and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, the CIA was dispatched to engage in psychological warfare against Allende’s government and to make the Chilean economy “scream.”
U.S. intelligence agencies secretly sponsored Chilean news outlets, like the influential newspaper El Mercurio, and supported “populist” uprisings of truckers and housewives. On the economic front, the CIA coordinated efforts to starve the Chilean government of funds and to drive unemployment higher.
Worsening joblessness could then be spun by the CIA-financed news outlets as proof that Allende’s policies didn’t work and that the only choice for Chile was to scrap its social programs. When Allende compromised with the Right, that had the additional benefit of causing friction between him and some of his supporters who wanted even more radical change.
As Chile became increasingly ungovernable, the stage was set for the violent overthrow of Allende, the installation of a rightist dictatorship, and the imposition of “free-market” economics that directed more wealth and power to Chile’s rich and their American corporate backers.
Though the Allende case in Chile is perhaps the best known example of this intelligence strategy (because it was investigated by a Senate committee in the mid-1970s), the CIA has employed this approach frequently around the world. Sometimes the target government is removed without violence, although other times a bloody coup d’etat has been part of the mix.
Home to Roost
So, it is perhaps fitting that a comparable approach to politics would eventually come home to roost in the United States, even to the point that some of the propaganda funding comes from outside sources (think of Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s Washington Times and Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.)
Obviously, given the wealth of the American elites, the relative proportion of the propaganda funding is derived more domestically in the United States than it would be in a place like Chile (or some other unfortunate Third World country that has gotten on Washington’s bad side).
But the concept remains the same: Control as much as possible what the population gets to see and hear; create chaos for your opponent’s government, economically and politically; blame if for the mess; and establish in the minds of the voters that they’re only way out is to submit, that the pain will stop once your side is back in power.
Today’s Republicans have fully embraced this concept of political warfare, whereas the Democrats generally have tried to play by the old rules, acquiescing when Republicans are in office with the goal of “making government work,” even if the Republicans are setting the agenda.
Unlike the Democrats and the Left, the Republicans and the Right have prepared themselves for this battle, almost as if they are following a CIA training manual.
