I have been thinking about this for weeks and my FB account is down today so felt it was a sign to take the plunge and get this off my chest. I am retired and have been politically active for most of my life, starting off as a child screaming I like Ike on the playground, volunteering as a teen on the JFK campaign (which my parents were 100% against), to working on the Ann Richards gubernatorial campaign, and totally emerged in the Obama run in 2008.

How far right are the Republicans willing to go, they call for small government and no taxes, but are getting involved in birth control and abortion. What is wrong is the messaging and reality are not matching up. So ban the killing of the unborn baby but execution is fine. Make it so no woman can get an abortion and take away Planned parenthood to prevent pregnancy. Family values but kill big bird, really?

Tax cuts for corporations will create job, please name me five. If we tax corporations they will move jobs overseas, well show me five companies planning on bring back their overseas operation due to these generous tax cuts. The new fourteen republican governors are cutting taxes and shifting the loss of revenue to the backs of the middle class workers. Do you really believe they are going to bring new business to your state? Until we face the fact that bottom line profit is more important than investment in the good old US of A, and that those jobs are not coming back can we address this problem. Plain an simple the tax code needs a re-write so we can truly spread the pain evenly. Pull your head out of the sand and say this with me, we have to cut spending AND increase revenues.

The 80's/90's are back in politics.....just close your eyes and open them to the same old game that was played and failed back in Newts day. Trickle down has never worked and we have lost our industrial base our economy today is spend baby spend. Who will take the blame if there is a government shut down... both parties I hope . This could cause a double dip recession and are the republicans really willing to see that happen just to get ride of Obama?

Citizens United and the ongoing breaking of the Unions is what I call Republicans on steroids, and to hell with any laws. Well boy and girls what is the answer and where will this end? Will the supreme court ever have another ruling that is not a 5/4 split?

I am so sick of the media pundits running their mouths on this and that. I am sick of the lack of news coverage given the union problems in several states. No matter how you feel about Obama you would have to agree he just can't get a break. I am amazed at how much is on his plate and his ability to be presidential and not get caught up in the media noise and snark remarks tossed his way daily. But most of all I wish I had a crystal ball to see what the 2012 out come will be. Who had the Worst Week in Washington? Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa.

Who watches the watchers?

That existential question is not one that Republican Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, had hoped to be asking himself just a few months into his job as the self-declared lead investigator of the Obama administration.

But that was before a young Issa press aide named Kurt Bardella agreed to share private correspondence between himself and reporters covering his boss with New York Times reporter Mark Leibovich, who is writing a book on the culture, such as it is, of Washington.

When the news of Bardella's information-sharing went public, Issa conducted a (very) brief internal investigation before announcing that no sensitive documents related to the committee's work had been compromised and that, by the way, Bardella was fired.

While Issa sought to portray the incident as evidence of his decisiveness and zero-tolerance policy, even with his own staff, it's clear that the congressman either ignored or missed major warning signs when it came to Bardella.

There was the recent New Yorker profile of Issa in which Bardella, 27, described most reporters as "lazy as hell" and displayed supreme confidence about his ability to place stories favorable to his boss in almost any major news media outlet.

Or the bizarre mix-up when the Daily Beast's Howard Kurtz wrote an entire story in which he repeatedly quoted Issa - except it was Bardella he had spoken to on the phone. Yes, you read that right.

It's hard to believe that Issa, who has been around politics for quite some time - he was the lead agitator and sunk $200 million of his own money into the effort to recall then-California Gov. Gray Davis (D) in 2003 - didn't know that Bardella was a bit of a wild card.

The more plausible explanation is that Issa gave the ambitious and aggressive Bardella too long a leash because he knew that the flack could win him the sort of publicity he wanted and needed to emerge as President Obama's lead antagonist.

And Issa was right. Until he wasn't.
