BioWare has talked a good game about Dragon Age: Origins so far, extolling the virtues of the story and setting, but I had yet to be truly sold on how a standard sword & sorcery fantasy setting was supposed to exciting and engaging. In short, I wasn’t feeling gripped by the proverbial nads, as it were.
Today they released this trailer, entitled “Sacred Ashes”.

In the newest Dante’s Inferno dev diary, Visceral Games gives us the lowdown on a couple of combat related factors. Dante’s arsenal gets touched on, in a segment that may be the only place where you’ll ever hear the power of the Holy Cross compared to The Force from Star Wars. Also, running at 60 frames per second helps make the effects looks “sassy” – thought you all might find that to be crucial information. In the newest Dante’s Inferno dev diary, Visceral Games gives us the lowdown on... more

Greetings, Mass Effect fans. This is Subject Zero. She’s crass, violent, foul-mouthed, pierced and tattooed, potentially crazy and (from the looks of things) fairly predatory in a sexual sense. I think I may be in love.
But seriously speaking – it looks like Shepard is going to have his/her hands full with this feisty little biotic number. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that she’ll be a fixture in my party when Mass Effect 2 finally releases.

Brian Crecente received a $200 check mailed to him from Electronic Arts in a somewhat-kind-of controversial marketing scheme focused around the upcoming game "Dante's Inferno." Inside, you can see closeup pictures of the box and check itself and a video of Crecente's choice of not cashing the check, but burning it.
The $200 likely came out of EA's marketing budget and would have probably been otherwise spent on advertising, and it's done its job as publicity money, but I can't help but wonder if Crecente could have better spent the money by cashing the check and donating it to a charity of his choice.
Nevertheless, it's an interesting dilemma to give gaming journalists.Brian Crecente received a $200 check mailed to him from Electronic Arts in a... more

Well, thank goodness for that. I was worried that all the marketing, screenshots, videos and previews up until now might have just been part of some shared hallucination. However, according to this newest Visceral Games dev diary video, that could very well be the case.
Those who played the original Dead Space (or worse, watched the animated movie *shudder*), know about how hallucinations and madness overtook those affected by the Marker, the monolith unearthed from the Aegis 7 mining colony. Well it looks as if you may get to experience some of those effects firsthand when Dead Space Extraction hits Wii this fall.Well, thank goodness for that. NHL 09 had a great combination of fluid gameplay and speed, which created one of the best hockey experiences in a video game. As good as the gameplay was it did have some problems with the way the offensive and defensive AI positioned themselves and at times it seemed like the puck was made of super glue. As realistic as the game looked there were a lot of unrealistic plays happening on both sides of the puck. This year EA Canada hopes to bring some more realism to the game by improving the AI and the way the puck moves. In our second installment of previewing NHL 10 we are going to tell you all about these improvements and why this will force you to play differently from last year’s title.NHL 09 had a great combination of fluid gameplay and speed, which created one of the... more

Last year’s NHL 09 received tremendous critical acclaim and picked up many awards for sports game of the year. With NHL 09 EA Sports improved on everything they made popular in the 08 title. As good as last year’s game was it had a lot of issues, mainly with goal exploits and lack of features in their franchise modes. Though there were some issues, the game was still the best hockey game on the market. The combination of intuitive controls and the speed of the game drew even non-hockey fans into the game. This year EA Sports is hoping to once again improve on their winning formula. Over the next couple of days we will be giving you a preview of all the new improvements to NHL 10 leading up to our demo impressions. For the first installment we are going to preview the new Be a GM mode and talk about all the goalie improvements.Last year’s NHL 09 received tremendous critical acclaim and picked up many... more

During the last couple of days at GamesCom FIFA 10 made an appearance and EA announced a new feature called Virtual Pro. The new feature will give gamers the chance to literally put themselves in the game by using EA’s Photo Game Face. This allows you to take a picture of yourself upload it to the EA website and download it in FIFA 10 to use for a custom character. You will take your created Pro and add him to the team of your choice. From there you can complete over 200 accomplishments to upgrade your player’s attributes. This can be done by playing any of the offline modes including Manager Mode and Arena. Along with this you can take your Pro online and compete in the Pro Club Championship. This is similar to the EA Sports Hockey League in NHL 09 where you compete in leagues with your created character for trophies and a powerful leaderboard status. For those of you who were worried this would take the place of the Be a Pro mode, don’t, Virtual Pro is simply a new feature that will allow you to create one Pro and use him in every game mode.During the last couple of days at GamesCom FIFA 10 made an appearance and EA... more
