...but as we searched for someone to honor with our September CMS release - someone who exemplifies the spirit of efficient EPG entry workflow, who captures our hearts much as we now capture richer media file metadata, who knows the ins and outs of enhanced secondary event trigger timecode validation, one name kept rising to the forefront, one figure who truly defines the spirit of rock-n-roll, entrepreneurial daring, and indeed the rugged individualistic ethos of America itself.
That figure is, of course, the curly-maned scourge of the highway patrol, the golden-throated front man with the romantic heart, the Midas-fingered impresario of the high-end tequila market, the Red Rocker himself, Mr. Samuel Roy "Sammy" Hagar.
From the early days with Montrose, inverted hand on hip like Robert Plant's younger American brother, to gradual but inevitable solo success, to the multi-platinum Van Halen years, to the never-ending Cabo San Lucas party of his golden years, Mr. Hagar has led a charmed life - a life lived on his terms - loud, raucous and balls-to-the-wall - a life that, were our internal content management and publishing platform a person, we would like for it to live.
So we ask you to join us, take a seat, pour a velvety-smooth tumbler of Cabo Wabo Anejo, clear the throat, warm up the vocal cords, and give your best rock-n-roll shriek to the heavens in honor of Mr. Hagar. Recently, HipHopDX reported [click to read] that Kanye West was looking to explore his artistic options after touring and promoting the release of his fourth studio album 808's & Heartbreak. At the time, Kanye stated, “I'm going to go and take an internship with something and just do something that's like completely normal, and just rap on the weekends.”
Looks like Kanye is following through on these plans.
According to the New York Times, Mr. West has his sights on joining the likes of Louis Vuitton or Raf Simons, with an internship as his starting point. As odd as it would be to see a multi-platinum artist begin another career from the bottom, it was equally astounding when West contacted Simons himself.
“I was blown away from the planet when he told me,” the 40-year old Belgian designer told the Times. In disbelief, Simons continued, “I know he’s very serious about this — I don’t take it as a joke — but how can I imagine him being my intern? It’s a very extreme situation.” Simons, who has gained notoriety as one of fashions’ current leading innovators, draws his inspiration significantly from youth culture.
While he awaits an answer, 'Ye still has other ventures to keep him busy including his own Pastelle line, which is three years in the making and counting.

Scientists at the University of Newcastle have managed to create human sperm cells using a female embryonic stem cell.
The researchers, led by Prof Karim Nayernia, had previously created primitive sperm cells from male bone marrow. Men’s motives for buying sex are hotly contested among researchers. Some believe the practice serves as a salve for common psychological afflictions, such as an unfulfilled craving for sex or romance. Others, meanwhile, paint a dimmer portrait of johns, believing they are driven by chauvinistic motives, such as a desire to dominate and control women.
Of course, the simplest explanation for men buying sex is that they like it. After all, people are generally willing to pay for activities they enjoy as much as they do sex. On the other hand, a man can usually get sex for free in the context of an ordinary intimate relationship. So why pay good money for it, especially given the social and health risks of having sex with a prostitute? Are all johns so unappealing that they cannot get sex any other way?"

A GIRL in the Northern Territory woke when a snake slithered into her bed, wrapped around her neck and bit her on the arm.
Ms Findlay woke up in her Howard Springs home early on Thursday morning when the snake bit her.

The new king of Bhutan has been crowned in a lavish coronation ceremony in the isolated Himalayan kingdom.
King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, 28, an Oxford-educated bachelor, becomes the world's youngest monarch.
He has become head of state of the world's newest democracy after his father abdicated in 2006 as Bhutan changed to a constitutional monarchy.
Bhutan held its first democratic elections for a new parliament and prime minister in March.
The coronation of the Buddhist nation's fifth hereditary king fell in what is known in Bhutan as the month of the male earth rat.
Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley said three enlightened astrologers had jointly proposed 6 November as the most auspicious date for the "historic occasion".
'Gross National Happiness'
The ceremony comprised an ancient and colourful ritual in a white-walled royal palace in the capital, Thimphu.
Thousands of foreign dignitaries, including India's President, Pratibha Patil, governing Congress party leader Sonia Gandhi and Bollywood stars were present.
The guests were surrounded by lines of local people dressed in their national costumes.
The crown was bestowed on the new king by his father, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, 52, who stepped down in 2006 as part of his five-year plan to gradually introduce democracy to Bhutan's 600,000 citizens.
"I am happy, my friends are happy and in general as a nation we are happy," Sonam Phuntsho, a civil servant, told the AFP news agency.
"He [the new king] is reaching out to the people. He is very smart and decent man," he said.
Prime Minister Lyonchhen said earlier the coronation would further consolidate the country's "sovereign independence and security and promote further unity, harmony, and peace in the kingdom".
But correspondents say that while 2008 will be remembered as the year democracy was introduced to Bhutan, revolutionary change is not on the agenda.
The transition to democracy has been deliberately designed to be slow and steady and the monarchy will continue to play a central role in Bhutanese life.

A two-timing, debt-ridden farmer ran over his wife in a tractor to claim £400,000 insurance and start a new life with his lover, a court has heard.
Robert Wilson, 40, told police he had accidentally ran over his 53-year-old wife Jane as she was suddenly knocked her into his tractor's path whilst feeding the cows.
During interviews with police, Wilson said he "lived for" his wife and had nothing to carry on for. The body of the part-time postmistress was duly cremated and the case was treated as a tragic accident.
But suspicions were later aroused by the victim's adult children from a previous marriage when they found a cards from Wilson’s Spanish lover 'Cathy' in their late mother's bedroom three weeks after her death. The cards clearly suggested that Wilson was involved in a secret relationship whilst still married to Jane.
The court later found that Wilson had made six visits to her coastal town of Malaga in 2007 to visit ‘Cathy’. Wilson explained the secrecy around their relationship by posing as a widower — before he murdered his wife — who did not want to upset his dead partner's family.
Prosecutors claim "the timing and the circumstances of Jane Wilson's death present too much of a coincidence" and also allege Wilson's description of the tractor accident did not tally with the physical evidence at the scene.

A jogger bitten by a rabid fox that just refused to let go determinedly ran a mile back to her car where she was able to lock it securely in the trunk. The fox was taken for testing for rabies and the woman has since had to undergo rabies vaccine treatment.
