Located in the ‘La Finca’ estate project in Madrid this house was optimized for functionality and the architects used a simple design, but with its unique shape and with the large swimming pool built around the house turned out to be wonderful.
The interior design it’s based on the same whitish hue and combined with the high windows and the modern furniture gives the impression of open space and connectivity between indoor and outdoor.
With an interior swimming pool and a home theater this house screams luxury and it can be considered a dream house by many people without any doubts.Located in the ‘La Finca’ estate project in Madrid this house was... more

Video: Watch Flying Robots Build a 6-Meter Tower
POSTED BY: Erico Guizzo / Fri, December 02, 2011
This is the Flight Assembled Architecture, an installation that opened yesterday near Paris and is still going up as I write this. It's the result of a collaboration between ETH Zurich roboticist Raffaello D'Andrea and architects Fabio Gramazio and Matthias Kohler, also from ETH.
D'Andrea, an IEEE Fellow and IEEE Spectrum editorial board member, is known for his amazing robotic sculptures and flying robot stunts, and Gramazio and Kohler, who run their own design studio, are pioneers in bringing together robotics and architecture. But for an installation at the FRAC Centre, in Orléans, near Paris, they wanted to do something entirely new and bold.
How about using a fleet of quadcopters to build a 6 meter (20 feet) twisting tower out of 1500 foam bricks? Sure!
D'Andrea tells me they're using four flying robots at the same time. First, the robots grab foam bricks from a special brick dispenser on the ground. Next the quadcopters receive the exact coordinates of where the bricks should go based on a detailed digital blueprint of the tower. Then they fly off.
The robots fly autonomously, but they get help from the environment: The ceiling of the room where the assembly is taking place was equipped with a motion-capture system. A computer uses the vision data to keep track of the quadcopters and tell them where to go -- the same approach used at ETH's Flying Machine Arena. (More technical details here.)
When a robot's battery runs low, it automatically lands on a charger and a new quadrotor takes its place. The assembly is happening at a pace of 100 bricks per hour on average, D'Andrea says. Glue on the bottom of the bricks keeps them in place (the installation will become part of FRAC's permanent collection).
The foam tower is actually a 1:100 model of a "vertical village" conceived by Gramazio and Kohler. It would have a height of 600 meters and living space for 30,000 people, with each "brick" housing up to three floors of apartments as well as stores, cinemas, and gyms. A system of express and local elevators would allow efficient transportation, and traversing the entire building would take just 7 minutes. If you don't like the idea of having 29,999 other people living less than 7 minutes away, you may take some comfort in the fact that the village would be everything but densely packed: Looking out your window to the interior of the tower, the other side would be more than 300 meters away, and while shielding wind, the porous structure would allow for plenty of sunlight from all directions.
This week, after some test runs in Zurich, D'Andrea, Gramazio, and Kohler gathered their teams, packed their robots and bricks, and started the setup at the FRAC space. Last night, the museum opened its doors, and a crowd filled the room, letting off "lots of oohs and ahhs," reports Markus Waibel, a member of the D'Andrea team.

The Civic Arena, Mellon Arena, the Igloo; no longer home to the Pittsburgh Penguins is fighting for it's life. It may be one of only two of these unique structural building left. The dome retracted to give concert goers, fans, etc. an unbelievable exposure to the night sky.
I was there the last time it was retracted. An experience I'll never forget. If pgh tears it down it will be a huge loss for everyone. This story gives a wonderful repurposing use great for and from the city. Grow food in it to feed the downtown people. HOW Green can you get? Many suggest ways to save Mellon Arena
Wednesday, June 23, 2010
By Patricia Lowry, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Courtesy of David Julian RothArchitect David Roth's very preliminary concept study suggesting that the Mellon Arena become an urban greenhouse in partnership with the Swedish company Plantagon, which aims to produce food where much of it is consumed, in cities. When I asked for ideas for reusing Mellon Arena on June 13, I hoped to get at least a handful of responses. But almost 60 of you e-mailed or called with suggestions or simply encouragement to find a way to save the arena.
Convert it to a market house, "a large open floor filled with vendor stalls of fresh produce," writes computer programmer Joel Hess of Etna. "Imagine that, when the weather permits, the roof of the dome would be opened to create an instant fresh-air market. ... Pittsburgh would have the most impressive market house in the nation along with the recognition that goes with reusing and preserving a historic piece of architecture."
And both the Hill and Downtown would have something they've long needed -- a grocery store. A dedicated shuttle service and walk-ins from the new surrounding neighborhood could eliminate the need for massive amounts of parking.
Architect David Roth took the market house idea a step further, suggesting the Igloo become an urban greenhouse in partnership with the Swedish company Plantagon, which aims to produce food where much of it is consumed, in cities.
"Our arena installation would be a self-funded food agora, with Plantagon produce and local farmers market stalls in each of the perimeter bays," Mr. Roth writes.
Although his design shows the dome replaced by a new structure, the existing dome could be glazed.

This particular jetted lounging tub from Wasauna is somewhat peculiar, with a combination of transparent plexiglass sides and cushioned seats that make it look as much like a mid-century modern lounge chair as a water-soaking basin. Best of all, a freestanding tub solution like those listed here are easier to install, remodel, repair, reglaze or refinish as needed.
Offered by HighTech this elegantly curved wooden tub seems anything but, well, high tech – save maybe the smooth cylindrical metal fixtures that service the stand-alone, naturally-finished basin. Pebbles around the base replace the need for conventional tile. They provide a nice textured and traction-friendly surface for bare feet catch, but equally important: they channel and ultimately drain any overflow (or excess water should the wood turn leaky).

This could give the Iron Man’s house a run for its money. Approximately 40 miles north of Auckland, New Zealand is the perfect perch for a proposed dream house. Though only an architectural visualization at this point, this is the kind of house you would normally expect a Bond movie villain to own!
Mahina, Maori for moon, designed by Weber Consulting was originally slated to be placed on the relatively uninhabited Kawau Island. However the island’s residents are torn over whether or not to allow it to be built. The controversy has led to international interest, and according to the New Zealand Herald News, the official website for the Mahina says that the moon-shaped house can be built anywhere on the planet.

This mind teasing structure that you are viewing in pictures below was designed and developed by organic architect Javier Senosiain.
Javier Senosiain is a Mexican architect who has a peculiar taste to create numerous marvels in different patterns. This particular shell house aptly named “Nautilus House” was given shape in 2006 at a place called Naucalpan in Mexico. Being an exceptional one directly from the imagination of its architect, it naturally had to undergo enough changes testing the patience of its builder. The concept “Organic” can be well experienced from the way one feels being amidst the nature. The way the structure and the interiors have been designed is nothing but teasing the ever hungry urban population confined to concrete jungles. Do you want to be the one, dreaming different?

MUSEUM HR GIGER BAR

The interior of the otherworldly environment that is the H.R. Giger Museum
Bar is a cavernous, skeletal structure covered by double arches of vertebrae
that crisscross the vaulted ceiling of an ancient castle. The sensation of being in this extraordinary setting recalls the tale of Jonah and the whale, lending the feel of being literally in the belly of a fossilized, prehistoric beast, or that
you have been transported into the remains of a mutated future civilization.
