Long before the Lord of the Rings trilogy vaulted Peter Jackson into the record books, he seemed eager to challenge his audiences, depicting puppet sex and gore in Meet the Feebles and flesh-eating aliens in Bad Taste. He even introduced Kate Winslet to the world as a deranged teenager who bludgeons a woman to death with a hammer in Heavenly Creatures.
But at a press conference last weekend, Jackson invoked his sense of morality when questioned about his decision to excise a crucial—albeit, wrenching—plot point from his adaptation of The Lovely Bones, Alice Sebold’s blockbuster 2002 novel about a 14 year old who is raped, murdered, and dismembered by her next-door neighbor. In Jackson’s film, Susie Salmon doesn’t get raped. The murder happens off-screen. And though her family falls apart in its grief, Jackson chose to cut scenes of her mother’s adulterous affair with the crime’s investigator.
“To make Lovely Bones without the rape,” said UCLA’s Richard Walter, a fan of the novel, “is like making Titanic and leaving out the iceberg.”
Speaking to a crowd of journalists, Jackson explained in a measured, matter-of-fact tone that some things—like the depraved acts conjured by Sebold—just don’t belong on a 60-foot screen. He wanted a PG-13 rating. He wanted his own 13-year-old daughter to see the film. He didn’t aim to make a film for the fans of the novel.

"The interwebs have been astir with rumors and sources claiming that “The Hobbit” is being planned as a 3D movie experience. An unscientific but fun poll showed conclusively that almost 75 percent of TORn poll takers didn’t like the idea. Then, the same pot was stirred again with more “sources” backing the original information and a flurry of e-mails landed in our inbox (Spymaster@TheOneRing.net if you have a hot tip!) beating the same drum. Not wanting to disrupt the creative process going on around a pair of films based on “The Hobbit,” we nevertheless asked Guillermo del Toro just what exactly, if anything, was up with 3D Hobbit movies. Since he is the director of the films in question (you know, the guy who picks the director of photography, the cameras and formats and all that movie stuff) we thought he might know.
Turns out he did and he told us, “I can safely say that, as of this moment, there are absolutely NO conversations about doing the HOBBIT films in 3D.”

I wrote, recorded, and produced this song and edited this video for a highschool senior-guy pageant show. It took me about two weeks to write and record, and about a week or so to shoot and edit, and the final product here won me first runner-up along with some decent cred in school. It also features the vocal talents of my friend Thomas Schluep. It's an entirely original piece with a bit of humor and a lot work, and although it means a little more to who it was intended for, please enjoy nonetheless.

There's a rumour going around that a third Hobbit film that would bridge between the two hobbit films currently filming and the lord of the rings trilogy.
Total Film is reporting a source that says Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson might once again be planning another film in addition to the two current planned Hobbit movies, with GDT likely making both of the first two and Jackson shooting the third.
What do you think about the news?
Do you think i been a good choice for the original hobbit to be split into two films already?
My personal view two films should be enough , and think we really have some exciting times coming up with this film as it is bring together two very visionary and talented directors on such a special project , we really have something amazing to look forward toThere's a rumour going around that a third Hobbit film that would bridge between... more

A scattered people, the descendents of storied sea kings of the ancient West, struggle to survive in a lonely wilderness as a dark force relentlessly bends its will toward their destruction. Yet amidst these valiant, desperate people, hope remains. A royal house endures unbroken from father to son....
This hour long original drama is set in the time before the War of the Ring and tells the story of the Dúnedain, the Rangers of the North, before the return of the King. Inspired by only a couple of paragraphs written by Tolkien in the appendices of the Lord of the Rings we follow Arathorn and Gilraen, the parents of Aragorn, from their first meeting through a turbulent time in their people's history....

"Ian, would you like lots more money?"
