Late Wednesday, as most people in the US were focusing on the next day's holiday festivities, Engadget picked up on a potentially unnerving press release entitled "Link Between Wireless Technology and Autism Unveiled in New Scientific Report." Last week, the Bush Administration vetoed the reauthorization and expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program. This vital program, approved overwhelmingly by both Republicans and Democrats, would have given federal funds to states to cover children in low-income families that are not poor enough to qualify for Medicaid, but unable to afford private insurance. This would include families that gross up to a cap of $82,000 annually. The hardest hit are likely those parents trying to cope with escalating therapy costs related to the Autism Spectrum. As rates of Autism continue to rise sharply in America, the assistance of the Federal Governemt could blockade many families from going broke. Many families are currently getting denied needed therapeutic services from insurance companies to aid in early prevention and healing.
