It's about time...
The Yankees would not be the great franchise they are without George...
George built the dynasty... George built the new park next door...
George needs his own statue in Monument Park too.
Every "real" Yankee fans owes everything they've enjoyed to George...
He will be in the Hall soon.
And it's only right the Yankees name their Spring Training site after George...It's about time...

Roger Clemens and his former trainer Brian McNamee are testifying before Congress right now in regards to allegations of steroid usage, HGH usage, potential perjury, etc...
Here's an excerpt from the running blog by ESPN.com's Jayson Stark:
"12:06 p.m. ET
Rep. John Tierney had an experience many of us in the media have had while trying to interview Clemens: We ask one thing. He gives an answer that seems to be in response to some whole other question. And no matter how hard we try, he keeps answering the question he hears, not the question we asked.
Tierney noted three specific times Clemens told investigators he'd never talked to McNamee about HGH -- but then cited two occasions when he confronted McNamee about his injection of his wife with HGH.
Repeatedly, Tierney asked Clemens how he "reconciled" that inconsistency. Repeatedly, Clemens gave answers that indicated that "prior" to those conversations, he'd never had a "specific" discussion with McNamee about HGH.
You wanted to scream out, "Roger, that's not what he's asking." But eventually, Tierney just gave up and moved on.
Been there. Done that. "Roger Clemens and his former trainer Brian McNamee are testifying before Congress... more

Look at that 'stache, you can't say you don't want him in the Hall...
Plus he's the only reason the Yankees were ever good during the Reggie Jackson years.
He pitched before the steroids era, so it's ok for you all to like the guy and applaud his long wait to break into the hall...
He must wear a Mariner's cap when he goes into the Hall though...
He was the guy who made Griffey, Randy Johnson, and A-Rod great, just for being their mustache touting teammate in 1994.
He joins his former Padre manager Dick Williams in the 2008 Hall of Fame class.
Can someone explain how the great Chuck Knoblauch only got one vote?
Knobby and Justice musta been screwed by that Mitchell Report outing...Look at that 'stache, you can't say you don't want him in the Hall...... more

It pains me to see Chuck Knoblauch's name sullied with the likes of Adam Riggs, Cody McCay, and Armando Rios... I mean Hundley, Ismael Valdez, and Pettite's names were swirling around for years.
But the tragic tale of how Chuck Knoblauch's ended up here is a true tragedy which started when he threw an errant throw into the stands beaning Keith Olbermann's mother in the head.
And who could blame David Justice?
Who wouldn't load up on HGH after being dumped by Halle Berry? It pains me to see Chuck Knoblauch's name sullied with the likes of Adam Riggs,... more

Peter Gammons like always, the first to break this news...
Uh oh, Yankee and Red Sox nation(singular b/c bandwagon jumpers are one and all the same), looks like the Wal-Mart and Microsoft of baseball didn't win those sweepstakes...
Of course this could end up just like that time the Marlins gave the Red Sox, their World Series winning duo of Lowell and Beckett, and ended up with the guy who turned out to be the best player in all of baseball, Hanley Ramirez... they also got Anibal Sanchez in that deal too (in case you forgot, he threw a no-hitter and has been injured since)
That lineup now has Renteria, Magglio, Guillen, Cabrera, Granderson, Sheffield... Polanco, Pudge, and Jacque Jones...
Cameron Maybin sure has a lot to live up to in that deal... As does Andrew MillerPeter Gammons like always, the first to break this news...

After many years of former Yankees legends Mel Stottlemyre and Ron Guidry standing in the dugout as pitching coach for the Yankees, Dave Eiland is now named to staff with huge shoes to fill... Ok, Guidry, probably not as fruitful in his coaching career as Mel, but... how will Eiland fare? He coached Joba, Kennedy, and Wang well in the minors...
If things do go wrong, no one will notice, every newspaper and fan will go and blame A-Rod.
For those who may not remember Dave Eiland, remember that Kevin Costner movie, "For Love of The Game?"
when the mustached manager sees Kevin Costner fatigued while still throwing his no hitter, he calls for a reliever to warm up, that reliever was played by Dave Eiland...After many years of former Yankees legends Mel Stottlemyre and Ron Guidry standing in... more
