Mind blowing animation!!
Illuminated is a new animated series being created by some of the people behind GNN (Guerrilla News Network), Phong.com (Eminem's "Mosh"), Pod Collective, Broken Saints, and ConceptArt.org.
Set in the not-too-distant future, planet Earth is being ravaged by rampant environmental change and collapsing economies, as widespread social movements triggered by online interaction are reshaping the face of world politics.Mind blowing animation!!

Scientist have developed system called Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) that allows thoughts to trigger electrical signals which are then channeled through a computer to control independent machinery. The technology has been successfully tested on Monkeys who have been able to feed themselves with a robotic arm.Scientist have developed system called Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) that allows... more

Just think about it. Literally. "People with severe paralysis could find new opportunities from shopping to doing business or making new friends in the virtual world of Second Life by just thinking about it...electrodes attached to the scalp can pick up the electrical changes associated with brain activity. The data can be interpreted by a computer, allowing a user to manipulate his or her on-line persona, or avatar, around the streets of Second Life without using a keyboard or mouse."

A Second Life user is suing another Second Life user for a "virtual crime" committed in Second Life. There's real money at stake, but is a crime in a virtual world a crime in real life?
I'll bet any lawyer geeks out there (or would they be called "geeky lawyers"?) are dying to know how this turns out. I doubt the court system has much precedent to go off here.
But wait, shouldn't there be a Second Life court system to handle this?

It looks pretty sweet, but the guy in the video doesn't seem that entertained.
"The pneumatic experts at Festo have taken a big step towards making the most real-life racing game experience, and the extent of on-road feel of their new contraption looks very impressive. Festo uses Fluidic Muscles and mechatronic systems to give users a true sensation of either driving or flying, depending on the software being used. It's really more of an industrial simulator than a game, and we're pretty sure it costs a bit more than a Playstation 3. Either way, we'll need to come up with a business case to AOL for buying one for the Autoblog team. You can check out a video of the Festo system after the jump."It looks pretty sweet, but the guy in the video doesn't seem that entertained.... more

Running around in virtual reality has always been a problem, since its pretty hard to physically move anywhere while youre standing in a room and hooked up to a computer. VirtueSphere took a stab at the problem with a giant ball on rollers, but the Omni-Directional Treadmill (ODT) is a much more elegant (and, lets face it, way cooler) solution. As you can see from the video above, the ODT allows you to move continuously in any direction (even sideways or backwards), and the current version will handle jogging speeds. It uses a bunch of little treadmills moving in one direction, all mounted on one large treadmill that moves orthogonally. It may not surprise you to hear that the US Army has dibs on all of the current versions, but the designers envision all sorts of applications, of which gaming is at the top (yes, top) of their list.Running around in virtual reality has always been a problem, since its pretty hard... more
