Former President George H.W. Bush feels that the tone of the national discourse lacks civility. "I don't like it," Bush told CBS. "The cables (TV) have a lot to do with it."
Bush said he believes Obama was "entitled to civil treatment" when it comes to his critics. But it was not just those on the right, who presumably make up a majority of Obama's critics, that Bush felt were responsible for the angry tone. The left was guilty as well.
Singling out MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann, Bush said, "the way they treat my son and anyone who's opposed to their point of view is just horrible." Maddow and Olbermann, he added, are "sick puppies."
Needless to say, Maddow and Olbermann weren't taking Bush's criticism lying down.

October 7 Keith Olbermann Comment about Health Care Reform. It's the fight against death.
Keith Olbermann's special comment of October 7 got personal. He experienced firsthand and personally the broken system we call Health Care. The difficulties he went through with his ailing Father were unexpected to Keith even though he was well aware of others' (especially those without insurance) suffering under this system. But he had money, isn't that enough in Capitalistic America to protect you from becoming a victim of the Health and Insurance Industry’s gluttony?
Yes indeed, as Olbermann earnestly commented, money had saved his father from needless suffering and loss of dignity. This made Keith even more compassionate to the plight of those who have no leverage. His money did afford some of the best attention by medical personnel thus making him even more aware of, how those with no health insurance must endure the lack of self-respect to which a society without responsiveness will put them through.
Having empathy and concern for others can be a misfortune because there is so little one can do to help the forgotten ones. That's the way the Insurance Industry would like those who can't afford their high premiums to become... FORGOTTEN.
It's only people with a platform such as Mr. Olbermann, who can bring to light the outrageous greed in this country where bottom-line is more revered than humaneness. I guess if they could just get rid of those who can't line their pockets, they would do so but since we are a nation of laws all they can do is lie, mislead and spend exuberant amounts of money lobbying their status quo.
Thank all that is good, for Keith Olbermann, he is the guiding light to benevolent thinking of which we all, Conservatives and Liberals alike, can follow, if you happen to possess a heart. He truly is A VOICE OF REASON. thinkingblueOctober 7 Keith Olbermann Comment about Health Care Reform. It's the fight against... more

Last night Keith Olbermann dedicated his entire show to an hour long special comment on health care reform.
From the transcript:
"Since August 23rd of this year I have interacted daily with our American Health Care system and often done so to the exclusion of virtually all other business. It is not undercover reporting, and it is not an expert study of the field, but since that day, when my father slid, seemingly benignly, out of his bed and onto the floor of his home, I have experienced with growing amazement and with multiplying anger, the true state of our hospitals, our doctor's offices, our insurance businesses, our pharmacies.
"My father's story as a patient and mine as a secondary participant and a primary witness has been eye-opening and jaw-dropping. And we are among the utterly lucky ones, a fact that, by itself, is terrifying and infuriating.
"And thus tonight, for all those who we have met along the way, those with whom we have shared the last two months inside the belly of the beast, and for everyone in this country who will be here and right soon tonight, Countdown will be devoted entirely to a Special Comment on the subject of health care reform in this country."

On "Countdown" tonight host Keith Olbermann offered a "Special Comment" about Republican Congressman Joe Wilson yelling out "you lie" during President Obama's speech last night to a joint session of Congress. Olbermann concludes that the only thing more offensive and embarrassing than the lack of civility Wilson displayed in "shouting at the President like he was a referee at a ball game and you were a drunk in the stands," is that Wilson was glaringly wrong in a comment that has "embarrassed the nation."
Olbermann digs deeper to uncover Wilson's sometimes tumultuous relationship with the truth.

“Send me everything you can find about Glenn Beck,” screams the headline of a Daily Kos diary posting by MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann.
The liberal pundit’s posting continued, “Find everything you can about [Fox News host] Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes.” Stu Burguiere is Beck’s producer; Roger Ailes is the president of Fox News.
Olbermann goes on to state that, on his prime-time news show Tuesday night, he will announce a hotline where viewers will be able to phone in tips about the controversial Beck and “his TV enablers” Burguiere and Ailes.
Olbermann’s declaration of war against Glenn Beck and the news network that hosts his show is a sign that the Van Jones controversy is not over simply because the White House’s green jobs adviser resigned over the weekend.
Olbermann himself admits that this is about Van Jones — and also about Beck’s own implied plan to continue his political campaign against White House staffers.“Send me everything you can find about Glenn Beck,” screams the headline of a... more

Lloyd Grove, the idiot behind this piece, as either lost his mind or is employing the same projection tactics of his beer buddy Bill-O. Granted both men are their to put on a show of sorts and both clearly slant to their respective political orientations only Bill-O is a full-on hypercritical, slander ridden, shock jock saying anything to inflame a situation and sell books or push ratings. Where it takes a modicum of intellect to keep up with Keith any idiot can follow O'Reilly and many do. And I'm pretty sure Keith has never been bewildered in amazement by watching black people eat with utensils. Beyond the obvious fact both are in similar professions there is little, very little legitimate comparison between the two. In fact the only reason other than shear stupidity to make such a claim is to re-ignite the feud and hope to get 15 minutes of fame from both sides for doing so. Nice try Lloyd.Lloyd Grove, the idiot behind this piece, as either lost his mind or is employing the... more

Keith Olbermann named the "Wall Street Journal," the "Washington Times," and Fox News the "Worser People In The World" on Tuesday for sending emails(http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/14/sanfords-media-emails-new_n_231770.html) to Governor Mark Sanford when he was missing saying the media frenzy surrounding his disappearance was ridiculous and promising him "friendly ground" for interviews. Olbermann refused to lump Colbert in with this group even though he wrote this email to Sanford:
As you may know, I declared myself Governor of South Carolina last night. I went power mad for abut 40 seconds before learning that Gov. Sanford was returning today.
If the governor is looking for a friendly place to make light of what I think is a small story that got blown out of scale I would be happy to have him on. In person here, on the phone, or in South Carolina.

Rush Limbaugh has challenged MSNBC to not mention him or have any of their guests comment on him for 30 days. At first blush this seems a rather strange challenge for the controversial radio host to issue considering he is never one to shy away from attention. In Countdown's "WTF Moment" tonight, Olbermann thinks he's ferreted out the real reason: Limbaugh just can't take the scrutiny anymore.

The debate over torture is getting personal for two of cable TV's prime-time hosts. After Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity made a seemingly impromptu offer last week to undergo waterboarding as a benefit for charity, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann leapt at it. He offered $1,000 to the families of U.S. troops for every second Hannity withstood the technique.
Olbermann repeated the offer on Monday's show and said in an interview Tuesday that he's heard no response. He said he'll continue to pursue it.
"I don't think he has the courage to even respond to this _ let alone do it," Olbermann said.
Fox News Channel representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
The two men are on opposite poles of a debate that has preoccupied the worlds of talk TV and radio. Hannity says waterboarding is a fair and necessary interrogation technique for suspected terrorists; Olbermann calls it torture, says it's ineffective and should not be done by Americans.
Charles Grodin was challenging Hannity on the issue on Fox last week, and asked whether he would consent to be waterboarded.
"Sure," Hannity said. "I'll do it for charity ... I'll do it for the troops' families."

In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king. Ever wondered why the far right seems to oppose education spending? Just after the events of 9/11 the extreme right seized the opportunity to use the trauma of being attacked like a giant waterboarding of the body politic. In our scared and compliant state they convinced the country we didn't need those silly old Bill of Rights or the Constitution in general. In the interest of public safety we need to suspend are ethics and moral judgment and do whatever it take to bring oil - oops democracy to the masses.
Funny thing happened on the way to Armageddon, the body politic wised up, dried off and fought back. The plan to create a permanent majority designed to relegate the opposition to nothing more than an emasculated nuisance worked to perfection - in reverse. Now Cheney is running around trying to save face and his ass simultaneously. His main problem, the masses have been educated and are no longer hanging daftly on his every word. Even at the pinnacle of their reign some of the things Dick said were a little hard to swallow. Now relegated to tea bagging for attention the far right is hating life on a galactic scale. Their epic failure would loom heavily on their collective souls - if they had any.In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king. Ever wondered why the far right... more

Rove and Cheney are clearly counting on some sort of attack to vindicate their poor decisions. The far right in general is hoping for an epic failure of some sort for the Obama administration to justify their continued existence. All seem to be depravedly indifferent to the fact any failure on this administrations part or attack on the country will undoubtedly cost American lives. The very lives they purport to cherish and claimed to have saved through their twisted actions. Rove, Cheney and their disciples are nothing more than self-serving supporters of an arcane cast society bent on maintaining "their" way of life.Rove and Cheney are clearly counting on some sort of attack to vindicate their poor... more

Ever said something you really wish you hadn't said? You know - when you can actually see the words form and fly out of your mouth just before you can catch them. Sean Hannity is feeling that very same pain as we speak and will be feeling a lot more, one way or the other in the near future. On his show Hannity flat out, full on said he would agree to be waterboarded to prove his point that it isn't torture and he would do it for charity. Keith Olbermann responded by calling his bluff and offering $1000.00 per second for every second Hannity could withstand the treatment.
