114 years old Walter Breuning, the world’s oldest living man, has died from natural causes on Thursday in Great Falls, Montana. He was born on 21st September 1896 in Melrose, Minnesota.
Breuning attributed much of his longevity to his diet. Shortly after his wife died, Breuning started eating out at restaurants. Eventually, he stopped dining out, but he continued eating two meals a day. He ate a big breakfast and a hearty lunch but skipped an evening meal, snacking on fruit instead. Breuning consumed a lot of water plus a cup and a half of coffee with breakfast and one cup with lunch. He got up every day at 6:15 a.m. and had breakfast at 7:30 a.m. He then took a stroll around block for exercise and could thenbe found sitting in the lobby chatting with fellow residents.

A woman who hopes to become the fattest woman in the world is now 30,000 calories closer to her 453.5kg (1000lb) goal after scoffing a festive feast that could have fed thousands of North Koreans (well perhaps not thousands).Donna Simpson, who weights 292kg, sat in a reinforced metal chair, and chowed down on the world's biggest Christmas dinner as she ate for two straight hours. The single mother-of-two, from New Jersey in the US, tucked into two 11kg (25lb) turkeys, two maple-glazed hams, 6.8kg (15lbs) of potatoes - 4.5kg (10lbs) roast, 2.3kg (5lbs) mashed, five loaves of bread, 2.3kg of herb stuffing, three litres of gravy, three litres of cranberry dressing and an astonishing 9kg (20lbs) of vegetables. After polishing off her enormous main course, she still had room for dessert and ate a "salad" made of marshmallow, cream cheese, whipped cream and cookies. The 157.5cm tall Simpson defended her meal, saying: "I eat as much as I want, whenever I want but at this time of year I really go all out."Christmas should give you carte blanche to do whatever you want."The food-crazy lady actually makes a living from being fat, getting paid to make public appearances and keeping a website where people can pay to watch her eat (!?).Already a Guinness world record holder for being the fattest woman to ever give birth, Simpson hopes to gain 160kg (25 stone) more and officially become the fattest woman in the world.Simpson met her daughter's father Philippe on a dating site for plus-size people, even though he weighed only 63.5 kg (10 stone). He supported her 12,000-calorie a day diet and was a "belly man" who loved her enormous shape.

A 28-year-old LA based photographer claims he has doubled existing sleep-related records by staying awake for a yawn-inducing forty days.
Tyler Shields says he surrounded himself with a team of eagle-eyed assistants who watched him non-stop for signs of snoozing, 24 hours a day, throughout the duration of the stunt.
"I wanted to challenge myself," he told press. "A lot of people said it was impossible. A lot of people said I would never make it 40 days. Well, I did."
A lot of people reckon this is a just a publicity stunt. Shields is no stranger to the spotlight and is already semi-famous as a result of photographing celebrities like Lindsay Lohan. Throughout the challenge, he kept a blog of his efforts. No mean feat considering he'd had no sleep and should have been (according to sleep experts) experiencing severe headaches, hallucinations, paranoia and memory loss.
Dr. Michael Breus, a psychologist who specializes in sleep disorders, told reporters that the world record attempt was "highly dangerous and unhealthy," and added that he didn't think Shields managed to stay awake:
"In all likelihood he has slept," he said. "Even if he does not think that he has. Many people have what we call 'microsleeps,' where our brain will go into sleep for even a few seconds.
"I do not know of anyone attempting this length of sleep deprivation, and I am not sure it is even possible," the doctor added.
Guinness World Records officials have refused to get involved. They won't recognise his stunt as it's so hard to prove and dangerous to try.

36 ultra hi-res photos taken with two Hasselblad cameras at this year's Glastonbury Festival in England were stitched together to create a 1.3-gigapixel image. Of the 70,000 people captured, over 7,000 dirty revellers have tagged themselves on Facebook.
This has awarded the pictured, created by mobile network Orange, a Guinness World Record for most people ever tagged in an online photo. No idea what the previous record-holder for this would've been, but I imagine this is a new entry to the book.
The two Hasselblad H4D-50 cameras used cost around $30,000 each, and have 50MP sensors which resulted in the 36 photos taken in under a minute flat, and later stitched together for a photo hi-res enough for people to zoom in on every single individual, to search for themselves and friends. I wonder how many girlfriends discovered their boyfriends copping off with someone in a cider-fuelled frenzy behind their back from this photo? [Glastotag via Orange]

10,276 people in China's Inner Mongolia have broken the world record for the biggest human domino chain, state media say.
The participants in the city of Ordos sat cross-legged and fell backwards in sequence in a record which took an hour and 20 minutes on Thursday.
The group of mainly high school students spent more than twelve hours over three days to train for the event.
The previous record had been set in 2000 by 9,234 Singaporean students.
"The human dominoes were a success. The new record is 10,276 people. This is a new Guinness World record," announced Guinness official Wu Shaohong on state television.
'Rewrite history'
"This magnificent feat was very hard to achieve, but we were all confident we would rewrite history," Liu Manshan, an event organiser, was cited by Xinhua news agency as saying.

By 6:45 Saturday night, I finally had my roar turns down pat. But that air-guitar-tick-tock move was still not quite there. Thankfully, about 300 zombies surrounded me, all quite helpful despite the rotting flesh, oozy wounds and various implements of death – a scalpel here, an ax there – protruding from necks and heads.
Saturday was the culmination of my experience as a "Thriller" dancer with Hangman's House of Horrors in Fort Worth for the worldwide "Thrill the World" event. We tried Saturday to help set a Guinness World Record for simultaneous dancing to a single song, with a projected total of 270,000 dancers from Australia to Pakistan to Venezuela taking part. The Guinness results won't be released for several months.
My zombification began Oct. 17, when I attended a three-hour workshop at Hangman's to learn the steps to Michael Jackson's monster hit. None of the moves is particularly difficult – after a couple of hours, we all felt pretty smug and confident. Then we found out we'd been dancing at half the normal speed. Oops.By 6:45 Saturday night, I finally had my roar turns down pat. But that... more

TMANDU, Nepal - Now that he's all grown up, 18-year-old Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal wants the world to know just how tiny he is.
Magar, who stands 22 inches tall, has been waiting four years for his chance to take the title of the world's shortest person.
On Thursday, a day after his birthday and becoming an adult, supporters mailed an application package to Guinness World Record in London seeking to stake his place in the record book.
Magar's family initially filed a claim when he was just 14 years old but it was rejected since he was not an adult and there was a chance he might grow, said Min Bahadur Ranamagar of the Khagendra Thapa Magar Foundation.
Ranamagar said it was not clear how long the certification process would take. When Magar applied four years ago, Guinness officials said he would need to be examined by a doctor to confirm he had stopped growing.
The current record is held by 21-year-old He Pingping of China, who is 29 inches tall.TMANDU, Nepal - Now that he's all grown up, 18-year-old Khagendra Thapa Magar of... more

Basingstoke man, Dave Holby, is rowing around the world from the comfort of a shopping centre in the north Hampshire town. I say 'comfort' rather lightheartedly as it will take two-and-a-half years of hard slog outside Primark.
Why would anyone subject themselves to that? Charity. In this case, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Dave's been rowing for up to eight hours a day, five days a week in his attempt to be the first person to 'virtually' row around the world.
The attempt can be followed on Twitter @worldrecordrow and here: http://blog.worldrecordrow.com/Basingstoke man, Dave Holby, is rowing around the world from the comfort of a shopping... more
