New Orleans, Louisiana (CNN) -- Waiting in a parked car in the Ninth Ward as the rain pounds down, I cannot help but think about the flood in the movie, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."
It's a natural, because I am only a stone's throw from where the levee broke, and I am here to meet the star of that movie, Brad Pitt, as the finale to our "Building Up America" tour.
The actor targeted this area some years ago with his Make It Right Foundation -- an ambitious plan to build up the shattered neighborhood with new, ecologically friendly, affordable houses, and then fill them with residents who had been driven out by Katrina.
When the rain backs off a bit, I hustle into one of the raised houses, where my TV crew is busy setting up lights on a covered upper deck. NBC is also there, but in a different area. I spend a few minutes chatting with Brian Williams. We've known each other for years and share a lot of friends, and it's always nice catching up.
After a while, he asks, "Who's going first on this?" I respond, "You are." He goes to get ready, and I look at the houses arrayed all around us. They are architectural marvels -- striking designs of unexpected angles, bright colors and green innovations: solar panels on the roofs, energy-saving appliances, rainwater collection systems.
They don't look like anything else you'll see in the Ninth Ward, but when Pitt finishes with Brian and comes up the stairs, no one is looking at the architecture.
"Hi, Brad."
"Hi, Tom."
He shakes my hand, flashes that famous smile, and his eyes twinkle (I'm no star chaser, but I swear, they really do). He takes a quick sip from the coffee cup he's carrying as we settle in to talk.
"You have set for yourself a very ambitious project in taking on a very difficult problem," I say. "Five years in, how do you think you're doing?"
"These houses here have exceeded my expectations," he says, looking across the neighborhood. "The goal here was how do you build affordable housing that's high-performance, and that is going to be strong enough to withstand the kind of weather that we're seeing down here. Things that drive the price up, we've got to get down."
Mindful of how such plans often go, I say, "I'm guessing your first units here cost a lot more than your later ones."
"Sure, but now we're down to dollar-for-dollar what it costs to build anything else here," Pitt says.
When asked how he did that, Pitt replies, "We had to start over. We thought we could do it better. We thought we could build a house with light and high-performance technology, that we could bring bills down and give the families who live here a better life, and we wanted to prove it at the low income level.
"And now every house you see here, last month, every one but one was producing more energy than it was consuming. That's big news. That's a game-changer. And there is no reason to build any other way now," Pitt says.
Pitt says he also wants to spread this idea beyond this neighborhood, looking into other areas in the U.S. and even abroad.
Donations from all over the country have fueled the first part of the project. Pitt acknowledges he hasn't made it very far on that next step.
"You know this neighborhood was built on the kindness of strangers," he says, quoting "A Streetcar Named Desire." "The old Desire public housing project stood not far from where we are. For this to go on, it has to be on the governmental level.New Orleans, Louisiana (CNN) -- Waiting in a parked car in the Ninth Ward as the rain... more

The obsession with all things vampire has put new blood into a list of the world’s sexiest men topped by Robert Pattinson.
Robert Pattinson and vampire co-stars dominate list of world’s sexiest men
Johnny Depp, David Beckham and Brad Pitt have been usurped from the top five by stars of the Twilight films and TV series The Vampire Diaries.
British actor Pattinson, 24, who plays Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, retains his place at the top of the Glamour.com poll.
The rest of the top five – Pattinson’s co-star Taylor Lautner, The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder and Twilight stars Xavier Samuel and Kellan Lutz – are new to the sexiest men list.
Depp has fallen from second to sixth place, Beckham from fourth to 21st, Pitt from fifth to 33rd and George Clooney from seventh to 35th.
The top 10 is completed by singer Justin Bieber, Scottish actor Gerard Butler, Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars films, and Dear John star Channing Tatum.
Jude Law was 26th last year but has dropped out of the top 50, as has Leonardo DiCaprio (last year’s 38) and Keanu Reeves (last year’s 43) in the poll of more than 50,000 people.
Charlotte Duck, Glamour.com acting editor, said: ”Women are attracted to vampires because of the element of danger that comes with them. They are the ultimate bad boy – and women want to tame the beast within.”

Best comedy movies ever is looking forward to Megamind with Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Tina Fey. Ever since seeing Brad Pitt on a episode of Jacksass (although he was hidden inside of a gorilla suit), best comedy movies ever knew he had that fun twisted side to him even with his all over the board movie choices. The three together is a brilliant matching up and hopefully will pay off for kids and adults.Best comedy movies ever is looking forward to Megamind with Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt... more

If your like me and love zombie movies, and love Brad Pitt (mostly when his shirt is off) then you will be excited to hear that he will be in the movie World War Z, based off the novel by Max Brooks!!
World Z is in production now and should be out around 2012 according to IMDB.com
"World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War (abbreviated WWZ) is a 2006 post-apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks. It is a follow-up to his 2003 book The Zombie Survival Guide. Rather than a grand overview or narrative, World War Z is a collection of individual accounts in the form of first-person anecdote. Brooks plays the role of an agent of the United Nations Postwar Commission who published the report a decade after the Zombie War. The United Nations left out much of his work from the official report, choosing to focus on facts and figures from the war rather than individual stories; these form the bulk of the novel. The interviews chart a decade-long war against zombies from the view point of many different people of various nationalities. The personal accounts also describe the changing religious, geo-political, and environmental aftermath of the Zombie War." Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have accepted an undisclosed sum in settlement of their privacy claim against the News of the World.
The stars sued the newspaper in January over a story saying they would separate and had agreed custody arrangements.
Appearing in London's High Court, the couple's lawyer said that News Group Newspapers now accepted the allegations were "false and intrusive".
The couple were not present for Thursday's hearing.
The actors' action, for misuse of private information and breach of the 1998 Data Protection Act, was concerned with a front page story dated 24 January, which had the headline "Pitts all over".

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were all PDA-like at the premiere of her movie Salt which opens in theatres on Friday. Angelina‘s father Jon Voigt and her brother James Haven also attended to show their support. James even brought his own girlfriend! Surprisingly she doesn’t look anything like Angelina. Meow.
Angelina plays the lead in this action/thriller:
As a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt swore an oath to duty, honor and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy
Have you seen the trailers for this film? What do you think? I’m not sure it looks appealing to me.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s children have received an extraordinary amount of press coverage. The truth is that it seems like the gossip magazines just cannot get enough of their kids. Magazines such as People and Hello each devoted more than a dozen pages to their twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon. According to Women’s Wear Daily, People's magazine featuring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new twins was one of the magazine’s all-time best sellers. Approximately 2.6 million purchased that issue. Normally, People only sells about 1.5 million copies. In fact, that issue was the 4th most-purchased in People magazine’s history. The only issues which sold more were the issues on the 9/11 tragedy, the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. and the death of Princess Diana. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been together since 2005. They got married after Brad Pitt got a divorce from his former wife, Jennifer Aniston. At the time there was a tremendous amount of outrage over the divorce. Many publications ran headlines accusing Angelina Jolie of being "the other woman". There were allegations that an affair between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt began when the two were filming the blockbuster hit "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". But the truth is that none of us really knows what was going on during that time period.Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s children have received an extraordinary amount... more
