This is a video that features Zooey Deschanel dancing on a table. If you have not already pressed play, here’s some more info: Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (secretly an Olympic gymnast?) filmed a complement to (500) Days of Summer with this alternate music video for “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?” by She & Him (Deschanel’s music project with M. Ward). She’s a bank teller, he’s a robber — they complete a wordless, dreamy gazed cash transaction and turn the bank into their dancefloor. It technically has nothing to do with the movie…aside from the fact that filmmaker Marc Webb directed it and Zooey Deschanel is begging you to watch it. Zooey Deschanel has long been something of an emo-dork wet dream for more than just her striking features, lilting voice and commanding screen presence. Since her 2003 breakthrough All the Real Girls, she has emerged as one of cinema’s preeminent man-child foils — an idealized romantic counterpoint to a roster of young, mopey, quirky, vulnerable men whose paths to self-actualization travel directly through her (and, usually, her character’s vagina). This week’s (500) Days of Summer is only slightly different, featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a slight twist on the boy-meets-Zooey folklore.

"“500 Days of Summer” is one of those indie gems that has been building momentum since Sundance and, in the clip below, you’ll catch a glimpse at why; On beyond a great script and no small amount of style, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel share a chemistry that would make you believe that they’ve been working together for years. Doubly surprising is finding out that they have.
“We’ve known each other for almost ten years,” Zooey told MTV News, citing a little-known project called “Manic” in 2001 that brought the pair together.
