ARTIST WATCH:
Tara McPherson just shared this new in-progress piece with us before she takes off to Brazil. This painting seems to be following in her new direction to incorporate more animals and symbols from various cultures.
Tara told us that her new work this year will explore myths, folktales, and stories from various cultures. In her widely publicized world book tour, Tara was able to travel from Germany to Brazil; Mexico City to France. 2009 was a year of travel for this Queen of Poster Art, and she plans on incorporating new colors, more males, and influential imagery she absorbed while exploring new cultures.

Why are you here? Not the age old philosophical question but on this site, in particular the news section of current.com. Some obviously come to promote a cause others to promote a point of view. What do you expect to gain from going to current and clicking on the news link?
I will try to be as honest as I possibly can about the reasons that I'm attracted to this site. When I say attracted I mean almost addicted, as in moth to a flame. Being somewhat of an information junkie it gives me a feeling of superiority to get the news before most of my peers. Or if you will, information before it becomes news. Add to that the gift of being able to instantly add my opinionated opinions, and gain insightful knowledge, I've hit the trifecta.
Call it a group excersize or just being nosy. However you choose to look at it. The only thing I ask is please be honest.

There has been a sharp rise recently of so-called geek girls, and the sad fact is that many, if not most, of these women are nothing near geeky. While the elusive geek girl does, in fact, exist, she’s much less common than most would care to admit. There are criteria that must be met to make a proper geek girl; she must be geeky, she must be a techie, and she must be hot. Too many misconceptions are throwing off the curve, and people need to understand that receiving a 300 page phone bill does not make a girl geeky. It makes her a stereotype that is far older, and less respectable. I love Pixel Art, I have 3 posters decorating the walls in my apartment with pixel art, probably because I grew up playing those 8/16 bits video-games for consoles like NES, SNES, Master System and Genesis. One of the masters of this trade is the EbOY.
EbOY is Kai Vermehr, Steffen Sauerteig and Svend Smital. We create re-usable pixel objects and take them to build complex and extensible artwork. And we make toys.
