This has stirred around my mind a long time being a music promoter and dealing with Independent Musicians & Bands and i have came to the conclusion that the Indie Music Scene is getting much more popular then Signed Talent and here is the reasons why.
1. More Freedom for the Musicians and Bands to give out there Music for FREE.
2. Not Controlled by a Major Label or by "exclusive contracts"
3. They get all of there money from Cd sales, mp3 sales and merchandise.
4. They can pick and choose what clubs and venues they want to perform at.
More Freedom To Promote your Music
Now lets review the following information above so everyone is on the same page. When i talk about freedom to release there music for free as you are aware the RIAA is giving people alot of grief over file sharing networks (kaaza, napster, audiogalaxy, Usendit, etc) and killing them with legal fees and also fines for having copyrighted music on there PC and also sharing it on the networks (most of the people who are getting sued prolly dont even know the files are in the shared directory until they get pegged).
Contracts & Exclusive Rights
When it comes to contracts and record labels mostly the talent is there slave for however long the contract is valid for and they can drop you for any reason at anytime they feel suitable look what happened to Rick Ross and the other one that got dropped in over-night status. When it comes to Exclusive Contracts the talent does not own the materials they make, they cannot go to different sources for Music Contracts and they have a leash shoved up there butt regarding where there music and profiles are posted. (and no all them Signed Label Talent Profiles you see on myspace are not the real talent) its some designated guru who posts Signed Talent on myspace for publicity.
CD Sales and Mp3 Sales
Now when it comes to CD sales and Mp3 sales you have several FREE and PAY websites that will allow talent to post there music on there sites and make revenue from mp3 or cd sales depending on the percentage the site has setup for the fee's. Most sites will only give 60-80% of sales to the talent themselves and the rest goes to fees for the website, Some sites give the talent a bit more (like my site) where we give them 98% of all mp3 digital downloads however we keep 2% for pay pal transaction fee's its not a bad deal i must say. As for CD sales the pay pal money goes directly to them we dont have a fee for that since they have to ship the cd's to the clients. Now for the Talent who has there own website or web shopping cart its much easier for them to manage and keep track of all incoming and outgoing mp3 or cd sales or merchandise sales.
Clubs and Venues
Talent when they are signed to labels they are given a "budget" to work with for there promotions, marketing, Press and Concerts they do, the talent does not get to keep that money thats where they fail as well they think that big check the labels gives them is their money and well to be honest with you its not sooner or later you will have to pay that nice check the labels give you back to the label. Now being a Independent Musician or Band you can work with the promoters at the clubs or venues and setup a deal like the bar keeps the bar and the bands keep the door or some will also get a percentage of the bar as well and plus the door it depends on the club or promoter and how bad they want you to perform there. As for me when i do shows i usually keep the door and the bar keeps the bar and everyone is happy since there is no dipping into the bar revenue since most clubs will charge you a RENTAL FEE to rent out the space for your event or show.

These guys should be on the charts for everyone to hear! They are so talented and much better than some of the music heard on radio today.
Two Spot Gobi has a very distinct sound that makes them stand out from the rest. They have an acoustic soul and upbeat groove with massive beats and infectious melodies. Their energy rubs of on you and the cello and trumpet gives them a very distinct sound.
This is what one of the top Fame Games reviewers , Ken Morisson, has to say about this track "The song is quite hooky, the band and production are tight, and the vocal performance is spot on. I can see this band cutting through into the wider world"
So if you like this track make sure to check out their other tracks at http://www.famegamesradio.com and vote for them.

JASON SERENO IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF SCI-FI SONGS, AN OUT-OF-THIS WORLD DIGITAL MIXTAPE FEATURING FOUR SONGS WITH SCIENCE-FICTION THEMES.
Los Angeles, Calif. - July 1st, 2008 - Singer/Songwriter Jason Sereno has released a concept album that is truly out of this world. SCI-FI SONGS, landing July 1st, 2008 at JasonSereno.com, is a digital mixtape with science-fiction-styled music tied together through a common narrative, inspired by unsuccessful rock operas of 1970s.
Sereno, an acoustically-minded musician with a background in comedy and vaudeville-like performances, thought of the concept after a night of binge drinking.
"I was walking to the bathroom at about 3AM," Sereno hastily recounted. "I couldn't even see straight but this idea popped in my head, so I ran back in the bedroom and asked one of the girls to write it down for me. Thankfully Sharon - or maybe Brenda - listened. For once."
Sereno also enjoys multiple partners in the recording studio, which is why he enlisted the help of longtime friend and fellow axe-wielder T-Dogg for the SCI-FI songwriting process.
"T-Dogg was crucial in the creation of the storylines and lyrics for SCI-FI SONGS," Sereno begrudgingly admitted. "He was the one who suggested we utilize the guitar as the focal point for the album instead of synths and drum machines. Too bad he won't see a dime from the record sales because nothing in our agreement was ever in writing. Dumbass."
Rounding out the group is Cremer, Hollywood 's premier voiceover actor and narrator of the album.
"Cremer's talent is truly unmatched," Sereno fondly recalled. "He added so much to the project that I couldn't imagine SCI-FI SONGS without him, but he won't be receiving any monetary compensation either. Once again - nothing in writing. Duh."
SCI-FI SONGS consists of:
RocketShip Guitar: A boy receives a guitar from his birthday but when he plugs in the instrument it transforms into a rocketship that takes him on an intergalactic journey.
Dimensions: The party started in the first dimension. But things get weirder… er.
TimeTraveler Love Song: A time traveler finds the love us his life… but when he travels back to meet the woman of his dreams he can only speak in Spanglish - an unfortunate side-effect of time travel.
CarPlanes: In the future… there are no cars. There are no planes. There are only CarPlanes.
Cremer's Promos: An incredible assortment of inappropriate radio commercials (bonus track).
Although the recordings are meant to be heard sequentially - at least the first time - Sereno insists every tune is exceptional in its own right because of the combinations of style, substance and tone within each track.
"I’m really friggin' proud of the music we've put together," Sereno boasted. "We have full-on guitar solos, insane effects, gripping lyrics, influences from rock, punk, hip-hop and latin styles, as well as a complete storyline that is far more epic and moving than any post-apocalyptic Kevin Costner film."
Sereno is confident that the SCI-FI SONGS team's hard work will pay off - at least for him - because the album speaks to an untapped audience in today's music market.
"No longer will the nerds of the world be forced to stay home on Friday night to watch reruns of Battlestar Galactica," Sereno proclaimed. "They now have a voice. They have a rhythm in their hearts. They have SCI-FI SONGS."JASON SERENO IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF SCI-FI SONGS, AN OUT-OF-THIS WORLD... more
