It was recently voted one of the most important concerts of all time, alongside Woodstock and Live Aid. Their music itself is “natural,” but more in the sense of a volcano than a flower. “Two young Japanese girls form a rock duo from Osaka, JAPAN!” their website offers by way of explanation, “Creating Naked rock!!!!! Naked soul!!! Red red strong red dress!! Freeeeeedom paradise rock! Jump! With improvisation.” In the three years since the birth of Afrirampo (a nonsense word the band insists to mean, of course, “naked”), Yasashii (drums) and Beppin (guitar) have been spreading their naked rock far and wide, sometimes actually in the nude, otherwise clad in their signature “strong red dresses.” ----------- Kaseo has taken his love of the most adorable Pokemon ever, Pikachu to a whole new level and he now even has a marvelous collection of musical instruments built from modified Pikachu toys.nnOf course these things are as annoying as hell, but I’m sure the kids will love it as much as they love unicorns. The 12 Pikachu orchestra also makes a great case for itself. ‘NESMETAL’ is Johnathan Godbolt. He was born in the fall of 1982 on October 18th. He currently lives on the east coast of the united states. “I’ve always loved old Nintendo music,” says Johnathan, “and I’ve always loved the more extreme side of music. As a kid I always listened to more hard rock than anything, as of course what my parents permitted at that young age. Growing up with bands like Petra, and Stryper paved the way nicely for crossing over into the faster, more technical genres of metal, as well as creating an open mind towards the classic/progressive rock styles.” Videogame music (both classic era, and present) helped in filling in just about every other style of music there is. The city of Tiumen' in southern Siberia is located more than 1,300 miles from the Russian capital. It is also, on a less celebrated level, home to the youthful glitch-hop practitioner known as Koin Nockio. In other related venues, he sometimes adopts the equally mysterious identity of "Konstantin Chyo" (his real surname, however, appears to be Bolotnikov). Partially responsible for the workings of a Siberian dubstep label, Nockio has been authoring his own music for the last three years. On a recent account signup, Google asked me to type something illegible. So I hit the "play" button so I could understand it. What I heard was even more disturbing (google "captcha" on youtube, others have discovered it too). A mix of backwards and garbled voices with an anonymous robot reads random words at disjointed intervals. It sounds like digital ghosts have attacked your computer, much like those awful Hollywood EVP movies...... I was startled at first, then intriqued. What were the backwards voices saying? RF:Sound is Rafa Fijo and he is the member of the new, young and emerging Spanish techno generation. Today belongs to the group 'darksite'. The bands consists of four wild and adventurous members who all share a passion for life and a flair for exploration and adventure. Their style progresses back and forth and takes inspiration from all parts of life, both now and back then. A common thread however can be found in their music and can be described as downtempo, trip-hop, electronica, breakbeat, chillout, cinematic, and even experimental at times, and finally their very own coined genre, space-trip; or so they would like to think. Formed in 1998, Canada's D-TRASH Records started as an online collective by members of CPUWAR and DJ RABIES as the beginnings of an international network of exciting and extreme electronic music artists. In 2000, the group formed into an official record label, headed by D-TRASH artist SCHIZOID, the label now coming forth with pressed CD releases for sale in stores; as well, continuing the practice of releases of full-length albums through the internet as MP3 for download. To find out what American garage rock looks like (and to know what it’s like to be in an independent band) right now, VBS and Scion A/V toted a bunch of cameras around the USA and found a scene that was vibrant, loud, eloquent, effed-up, and nearly impossible to define. The musicians, artists, writers, deejays and label owners that we talked to could only be united by a single common thread—their commitment to music that they enjoyed, on their terms, at whatever cost necessary (or, in some cases, unnecessary). "Full with Noise,..." is about noise music, specifically the version that has come to be called Japanese Noise -- itself composed of many different strands. The first half deals with the question of noise. What is it, whose is it, and how can we think about it. Also, how does noise inflect our thinking, rather than being an object; at what point does noise lose its noiseness and become meaning, music, signification? Or -- is there even a point where noise can subsist? Mostly, the text below takes the view that noise is a function of not-noise, itself a function of not being noise. Noise is no more original than music or meaning, and yet its position is to indicate the banished, overcome primordiality, and cannot lose this 'meaning'. Noise, then, is neither the outside of language nor music, nor is it simply categorisable, at some point or other, as belonging exclusively to the world of meaning, understanding, truth and knowledge. Quorpex is a Polish-German musician. He started his activities in 1996 as a drummer of heavy music styles. His interest in electronic music has been awakened in 1999. Inspired by many different music gernes, he changed his artistic orientation.
