That’s right, you heard me. I hate you. How DARE you make me pick between The Beatles: Rock Band and Brütal Legend for best soundtrack! This is the hardest decision I have been faced with to date and all I can do is stare at my screen in utter shock. How dare you make me choose! Both have such awesome soundtracks… I mean, you can’t beat the Beatles. But Brütal’s soundtrack was so… so good!
Oh, did I mention that the Spike Video Game Awards (or, VGA as they’re trying to promote it) nominees are now up and ready for voting?
Winter traditionally is awards season, when studios unwrap their shiniest baubles, the prestige films intended to catch the eyes of grownups and Oscar voters. This year, the final quarter offers a jumble sale. There are star vehicles and musicals, movies for teens and toddlers, adventures set in Victorian England and on alien worlds. Here are a dozen titles (opening dates subject to change) that I'm intrigued to see: http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/movies/69918477.html

Beware of winning awards online from the USCA (United States Commerce Association) - They are in the plaques and awards business. They are not representative of local businesses that have won awards- it's all a scam.
Google the phrase "USCA scam" to see many articles.
There are a lot of companies that have been duped in believing they have won a legitimate award and have been touting it online and in their own Press releases as evidenced here by this Google Search.
Here is a copy of the USCA Awards Letter Email:

Q magazine have included Oasis, a band who aren't even a band any more, as the world's best act shortlist for the 2009 Q Awards.
They're in the running for "best act in the world today" against Kings Of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Muse.
Obviously these things are subjective but are those bands seriously being heralded as the cream of the entire world's music crop?
And how do you even decide who the best band in the world is?
Record sales? Well the Bodyguard soundtrack is the seventh bestselling album ever and the Backstreet Boys' 'Millennium' is 9th so probably best to forget that method.
Awards? Influence?
It's surely got to come down to who your favourite band is. And how many people these days would still say Oasis is theirs?Q magazine have included Oasis, a band who aren't even a band any more, as the world's... more

STOCKHOLM – Sweden’s King Carl Gustav awarded tenor Placido Domingo on Tuesday the biggest prize ever for classical music, endowed by the Birgit Nilsson Foundation, which in its first edition granted the Spaniard $1 million for his “legendary” career.
The gala ceremony, attended by the Swedish monarchs, several government ministers and a crowd of some 800 distinguished guests, was held at the Royal Swedish Opera, where making her debut 63 years ago was the soprano Birgit Nilsson, an icon of the opera who retired from the stage in 1982 and died in 2005.
Before her death the artist endowed the institution with the legacy of these prizes, and specified that the first award should go to the Spanish tenor, though her decision was not announced until February.
Domingo, 68, received the award overcome by emotion and announced that he would use the money to fund a prize in the competition to promote young talents that he founded in 1993, Operalia, for the best interpreter of Wagner and of course for the training of singers and musicians.STOCKHOLM – Sweden’s King Carl Gustav awarded tenor Placido Domingo on Tuesday the... more

When you think 'Artist of the Year' for 2009, who do you think of? Beyonce? Lady Gaga? Taylor Swift? What about...Michael Jackson? The American Music Award Nominations have just been announced and Jackson has 5 nominations, including Artist of the Year. His nomination total trails only Taylor Swift, who had 6. While it is easy to understand this given the public reaction to his death in June, Jackson has not released a major hit record or album in over a decade. Is this a fitting tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time, or a shameless attempt to capitalize on the public's ongoing fascination with Michael Jackson? When you think 'Artist of the Year' for 2009, who do you think of? "The Twitter campaign for "Next to Normal," much buzzed-about due to its unusually large number of followers for a Broadway show, has picked up an OMMA (Online Media, Marketing and Advertising) Award for online marketing.
The Twitter push for the Rialto tuner, overseen by online specialist Situation Interactive, beat out campaigns for high-profile brands including Coca-Cola, Sprint, HBO and "Star Trek" for the laurel for Excellence in Online Creativity. Kudos are handed out by advertising-centric publication group MediaPost.
The winning campaign for "Normal" involved a retelling of the show's narrative in tweets attributed to the tuner's characters (as penned by book writer Brian Yorkey). Campaign also resulted in the creation of a new song suggested by the show's Twitter followers, to be performed in a special event next month.
The number of Twitter followers for "Normal" currently approaches 800,000, a high tally boosted in part by the fact that the show's campaign has been promoted by Twitter to new users of the online social network.""The Twitter campaign for "Next to Normal," much buzzed-about due to its unusually... more
