It’s a satirical docudrama based on my experiences as a person with a disability.
This is a glimpse of experiences and situations in my life and the
discrimination and indignities I face as a man with a disability. It's a truthful look into my life. It's a cutting satire that is moving, funny and shocking.
My name is Adam Blasucci. I am 30 years old and have Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. It is a progressive muscle weakening disease. I've used a wheelchair since the age of six. My disease has progressed to the point where I must use a ventilator 24 hours a day and I need 24 hours of nursing care. Hell On Wheels is my first film project. It is a dramatization of some negative experiences I've had.
Now let me tell you a little bit about my background. I'm originally from Long Island, N. Y. I moved to South Jersey with my parents and my brother in 1981. I am a high school graduate and attended some college courses. My interests were mostly in liberal arts. Some of the classes I took were Introduction to Music, Introduction to Art, American Cinema and Introduction to Theater.
I am a film critic and entertainment reporter for an Internet lifestyle magazine for young disabled adults called Audacity
(audacitymagazine.com).
I love film, Ever since I was a child playing with my G.I. Joe and Star Wars action figures, I have dreamed of making my own films.
I finally got a chance to make my lifelong dream come true.
My intention with this project was to put my feelings and thoughts about being disabled on film. With this film I can shine some light on the indignities and prejudices the disabled community faced every day. Maybe the audience will walk away from this film understanding that we are just like you.

Writing provides us with the ability to express information to the world around us. Notes to a friend, reminders, lists, and many employment tasks may be impossible for many people with a learning disability in basic writing. It is often felt that children with LD's in basic writing skills lack the general ability to learn or are suffering from a low IQ. This is far from the truth. Students with writing disabilities are just as intelligent as or more intelligent than their peers. It is not that the child is lacking knowledge. He or she is merely unable to show their level of comprehension in the standard method. Often mistaken as a low intelligence level, a learning disability is when damage to the brain prevents someone from absorbing or demonstrating knowledge in speaking, writing, reading, math, or fine motor skills. It is not that the child is stupid or is incapable of learning, but rather how he or she learns or how information is transferred from the brain to someone else. Because learning disabilities can have a wide range of symptoms, it makes it hard to diagnose and is often misdiagnosed. If left untreated, the effects of a learning disability are not limited to school age children. Learning disabilities will limit the success and choices that a child will have as an adult. Learning disabilities can be categorized into three main areas. see link for more... http://www.helium.com/tm/525969/often-mistaken-intelligence-levelOften mistaken as a low intelligence level, a learning disability is when damage to... more

Although a wide variety of research has been conducted, there has not been one particular cause or prevention method found for learning disabilities. Experts have come to the agreement that it is likely a combination of social, physical, environmental, and social factors that trigger the onset of a learning disability. This, in turn, requires that a wide variety of prevention methods be utilized. Meet Rex: A little boy with both a severe disability and a great genius. He is a musical savant. Rex was born blind, with brain damage so severe it looked as though he would never walk, talk, or do much of anything. And yet, he has a musical talent few of us can imagine. Lesley Stahl has been following the amazing story of Rex Lewis-Clack for more than four years.
He regularly performs at concerts all over the United States. Back home, Rex plays in his middle school band. He also learned to swim the week before his 12th birthday.

Why in some cases I disagree with abortions. Everyone deserves a chance to experience life on earth. Now about rape victims being pregnant, I do not know what to do or say. I have lost many nights of sleep thinking about this situation.
Besides
You never know what is going to happen with the life you allow to thrive. Yes it is going to be one heck of a struggle but it is worth it!
I will shut up now.

The ADA promised access and inclusion for 43 million americans - but the courts have vioded that promise for countless americans that they have deemed "not disabled enough" and conversely deemed others "too disabled"............................... If we were discussing shades of color and complexion - all america would be outraged! ......................................................
Discrimination is discrimination is discrimination.....regardless of shades of disability and regardless of ability differences. When a person - any person- is excluded due to a level of ability or a perception of ability - that is an act of discrimination that the ADA and Congress intended to remediate.
..............
The ADA was intended to remediate the physical barriers that face persons with disabilities every day in every way - yet over 80% of local communities and businesses have not taken the steps to remove the "readily acheivable" barrier removal required by law.
...........
Over 6000 days have passed since the passage of the ADA - just one dollar a day, when combined with tax credits and deductions, would have made over ten thousand dollars of barrier removal possible!
........
Have you removed YOUR barriers? The ADA promised access and inclusion for 43 million americans - but the courts have... more
