'A B-Sides + Rarities Show' takes a look Argentine musician Juana Molina. Originally a comedic actress, Juana was a TV star in Argentina in the 1990's. She played multiple characters on a sitcom called, "Juana and Her Sisters". After a several year broadcast run, Juana turned her creative spirit to making music. Early concerts in Argentina were lackluster as her experimental music was questioned by fickle audiences. Moving to LA in the early 2000's Juana's music began to catch on with more progressive audiences and ultimately began to garner the attention of labels. She began to tour the US and Europe and soon landed herself a deal with Domino Records.
Combining a looping technique of her vocals, keyboards and acoustic guitar, Juana simultaneously mixes layers that renders an eclectic style of her own. Even though her lyrics remained in Spanish, Juana's popularity began to grow among the independent music circles in the US and Europe. Juana's touring focus remained outside Argentina for several years. Fortunately, the times are a changing and in late 2008 Juana performed two sold-out shows in Buenos Aires. The packed house welcomed her with open arms and cheers. Winning the Argentine crowd wasn't easy. Classic rock and tango rules the streets of Buenos Aires but this multi-talented artista is gaining fast ground and establishing a solid home fan base there. This 'B-Sides + Rarities Show' provides an up close and personal pass into Juana's home studio where she discusses her creative and technical process, her fans and her love of creation. In early 2009, after the release of her fifth album, ONE DAY, Juana made a world tour through the US, Canada, Europe and Australia, and was greeted by numerous sold out shows. Give her a listen and Juana's grooves will grow on you...and after watching this show her sweet and candid charm will likely do the same.'A B-Sides + Rarities Show' takes a look Argentine musician Juana Molina.... more
