Walmart Carrying Anti-Gay Book for Children

A children’s book written by the wife of anti-gay Standard of Liberty president Stephen Graham is being carried by over 100 Walmart stores. Chased by an Elephant, the Gospel Truth about Today’s Stampeding Sexuality by Janice Barrett Graham was written to “help shed the clear light of truth on today’s dark and tangled ideas about male and female, proper gender roles, the law of chastity, and the God-given sexual appetite,” according to Janice Graham in the book’s introduction.

“The number of our young people involved in sexual sins has greatly increased in recent years. Some of the most stalwart-seeming youth find themselves involved in pornography, fornication, promiscuity, homosexuality, and the like,” Janice continued.

According to the Standards of Liberty Web site, the book is available at 104 Walmart stores in the Intermountain West, the Brigham Young University bookstore, and through its sister sites.

“This charming, unique, and important book is a must-read for leaders and parents to use as they see fit that stunningly and resoundingly echos the truths and warnings presented in President Boyd K. Packer’s conference talk this past Sunday,” the announcement said. “For the sake of our children and youth, we can no longer afford to be silent on this topic. Given the licentious world around them, they need to be purposely taught the correct information and attitudes concerning human sexuality and God’s law of chastity.”

The Grahams claim that their son, Andrew, successfully changed his sexual orientation and is now a happily married man.

Andrew Graham wrote the book, Captain of My Soul, saying that he was “lured into same gender internet pornography during his high school years, and recruited into cursory homosexual experimentation with older men while at Brigham Young University.”

Andrew says he is shedding light on the “deceitful and predatory nature of the ‘gay’ lifestyle.”

The book’s introduction says Andrew’s “story ends happily with his subsequent deliverance and healing through family support, expert professional counseling, truth, and repentance through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Gay marriage bid by lesbian couple kick starts "Equal Love" campaign

A coalition of straight and gay couples will kick off a radical campaign called “Equal Love” today, with the aim to overhaul the UK’s marriage laws. The campaign, spearheaded by long-time human rights and gay campaigner Peter Tatchell, and is seen as the final push for marriage equality for both straight and gay couples. Eight couples are intending to challenge the current rules that prohibit gay partners from marrying and straight couples from seeking a civil partnership.The first couple applying is Reverend Sharon Ferguson and her partner Franka Strietzel who are today applying for a civil marriage license at Greenwich registry office. Every week until 14 December, one couple will make an application.All the couples are expected to have their requests turned down based on the current legislation but the aim is to take this further in the courts so a legal challenge is currently being prepared by Robert Wintemute, professor of human rights law at Kings College London. Professor Wintemute said of the current legislation: "It's like having separate drinking fountains or beaches for different racial groups, even though the water is the same. "The only function of the twin bans is to mark lesbian and gay people as inferior to heterosexual people." Peter Tatchell added: "In a democratic society, we should all be equal before the law. "The ban on same-sex civil marriage and on opposite-sex civil partnerships is a form of sexual apartheid - one law for gay couples and another law for heterosexual partners. Two wrongs don't make a right." Same-sex marriage is a growing trend all over the world and currently exists in Canada, Argentina and South Africa, as well as in seven of European countries; Portugal, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Iceland. London Mayor, Boris Johnson, and former Conservative Party Vice-Chair and lesbian MP Margot James, have both come out in favour of allowing lesbian and gay couples to marry in a registry office, on the same terms as heterosexual partners. This view is also echoed by the leader of the Labour Party, Ed Miliband, and by the deputy prime minister Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats.In recent years public attitudes have shifted strongly in favour of allowing gay couples to marry. A Populus opinion poll in June 2009 found that 61% of the public believe that: “Gay couples should have an equal right to get married, not just to have civil partnerships.” Only 33% disagreed. America's Celebrity Gossip Culture is the Main Cause of Tyler Clementi's Death, Says Opie & Anthony (And Jim Norton)

The Opie & Anthony Show (Oct. 6, 2010) talked about Tyler Clementi, the gay freshman at Rutgers University who committed suicide after two classmates secretly filmed him having sex and then broadcasted it over the internet. And to them this is more than just about homosexuals getting bullied (although they consider homophia to be an important issue). America has adopted a culture where anyone one wants to know everyone else's business.

The show's DJs (Gregg "Opie" Hughes, Anthony Cumia and Jim Norton) explained that everyone in our country has enjoyed having the personal lives of others (especially celebrities) exposed. They pointed out that for years the media has been obsessed with other people's personal lives, from Paris Hilton's sex tape to Mel Gibson's insane phone converations. And America can't get enough of it.

"We love it! We f##king love the details. We love it! We love to hear 'who did he cheat with? What happened? Oh, his said n#gger on the phone in a private conver... what happened? What did he do wrong," said Jim Norton.

Though they are not making excuses for the Rutgers students who filmed Clementi's sexual acts, they believed that incidents such as the one that occurred at the university should not be a shock to the American people. TMZ, bloggers, and every other media outlet have been doing the same thing for serveral years without any major protest from the public.

Also, they feel that Perez Hilton is a major hypocrite for recently speaking out against the students who filmed Clementi. "You're a part of the problem, scumbag," Norton said while talking about Hilton. "You're a part of this morbid voyerism. You're a part of this...throwing peoples problems all over the place. Things that are not the public's business. You make that acceptable."

The DJs said that everyone in the country has been "trained" into believing that a person's privacy being violated is not a big deal anymore, and that led to problems like the one that occured at the university.

Chicago Groups To Hold Candlelight Vigil To Honor The Victims Of Anti-LGBTQ Bullying - Lez Get Real

On 8 October, a coalition of grassroots organizations will be gathering together in Chicago to hold a candlelight vigil in honor of the nine LGBTQ teens that have committed suicide in recent weeks due to homophobic bullying. The vigil will be held on DePaul University’s quad near the corner of Fullerton and Seminary in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago.

Jeremy Kauffman, a DePaul University sophmore and event co-organizer said “After the recent suicide of Tyler Clementi, I felt compelled to do something that would raise awareness of this crisis.” The victims of bullying have been as young as thirteen and as old as nineteen. Bullying can also scar individuals for life even if they do not end their own lives.

According to the press release about the vigil “The organizers believe these senseless deaths did not occur in a vacuum, but rather in a society that lacks respect for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people and their right to dignity and equality. This vigil is being held in the hopes that both the LGBTQ and straight communities will come together to remember those lost, to provide support for the living, and to inspire hope and action for the future.”

Anthony Martinez of LGBT Change stated “LGBTQ teens are four times more likely to commit suicide than their straight counterparts. With the outrageous number of deaths this past month it has become very clear that as a community we cannot wait to take action. We must stand together and work harder to address bullying and homophobia in schools. In September alone we lost eight teens. It is truly horrifying“

The organizers of the event request that those attending bring a candle and lighter if they have one, and state that there will be an opportunity to leave behind mementos for those who are being remembered. Andrea Crain of Join The Impact Chicago stated “We want to allow people to offer something in the remembrance of these kids. A flower, a balloon or something personal to you – a remembrance.”
