It is no surprise that Fox News would blame Trayvon Martin for his own murder, but the mainstream media’s willingness to sell the distraction is the real problem.
To anyone who has ever seen Fox News before, this tactic is par for the course. Fox News and the people that they employ will destroy any victim to defend the right wing cause, but the reason why Fox is able to insert right wing blame the hoodie/blame the victim propaganda out there is because the mainstream media doesn’t challenge them. We will live in an era where the corporatized media plays blind, deaf, and dumb on a daily basis.
The right desperately needed a distraction because in the aftermath of the murder of Trayvon Martin, Americans were starting to ask questions about the Stand Your Ground law that has allowed the local police to claim that they can’t arrest shooter George Zimmerman. Fox News needed to shift the focus away from the real issues racism, gun violence, and power of the NRA and ALEC in crafting and passing state legislation. In short, they needed to find a way to blame the victim.

Two British tourists holidaying in Florida begged for their lives with their trousers pulled down before they were mercilessly shot dead, a court has heard.
Shawn Tyson, who turned 17 on Monday, is said to have murdered James Cooper, 25, and James Kouzaris, 24, after they drunkenly stumbled into the rundown Newtown neighbourhood of Sarasota.
He allegedly forced the terrified pair to pull down their trousers before firing a volley of shots.
Tyson is accused of going to rob the best friends in April 2011, and then killing them when they said they did not have any money.
Tyson faces a life sentence if convicted, but will not face the death penalty because of his age.
The court in Sarasota heard how the two British holidaymakers were dining and drinking in the city's downtown with Cooper's parents on the night of April 15.
The entire party was staying at a Longboat Key beach condo. Cooper's parents went back to the condo in a car and urged the two young men to take a cab back home.
The pair went to two bars and left on foot after several drinks.
But shortly before 3am, they ended up in a crime-ridden neighbourhood more than a mile from the bars. Witnesses said they saw Cooper and Kouzaris walking shirtless and stumbling through the neighbourhood.
They also reported that they were being followed by two black men, one with a red bandanna around part of his face.

The Syrian regime’s assault on the city of Homs continued for a sixth straight day with residents saying they are under a “genocidal attack” and reports of over 57 people killed today, Thursday. The shelling has been focused on districts that are controlled by rebel forces; the BBC‘s Jim Muir, reporting from Lebanon, says that there are civilians as well as armed rebels in the area that has been the site of the worst shelling, Baba Amr. Activists report that an entire three families have been killed.
A total of 65 people have been killed throughout Syria on Thursday in assaults by government troops, according to the opposition group, the Local Coordinating Committee. The aid group Doctors Without Borders issued a report on Wednesday saying that the Syrian government has been blocking medical care for activists and the hundreds others injured in the violence.

On Wednesday, United Nations chief Ban Ki-Moon said that the failure to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Syria has led the regime of President Bashar al-Assad to “step up its war on its own people.” Last weekend, both Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that called for Assad to step down and transfer power to a unity government. Folks, this is Joe Paterno's legacy....
Still, from now on when I think of Paterno, I won't think of his 400-and-whatever wins or his spotless (until now) program. I won't remember what Paterno did, but what he didn't do. What he didn't do is what got him fired Wednesday by the Penn State board of trustees.
Firing Joe Paterno doesn't fix everything, but it's a great start.
With responsibility comes responsibility.
Look, witnesses have testified that Sandusky did bad things with young boys in the Penn State football shower room. At least two janitors knew. At least one assistant coach knew. The athletic director and the school vice president knew. The school president knew. Paterno knew.
What is the over-under number on how many people have to know about a depraved predator working under their noses before one of them takes a step to stop the predator and protect the victims?

I know I have not been online for a few weeks, and there is a minor and major reason as to why. The minor reason is because I am taking some very... compressed, classes that take a standard 10 week quarter and compress it into 4 weeks. It makes for some very intense reading and homework. The major reason I will get at in a bit, but before that, I have a story I would like to share.
On Friday, June the 10th of this year, a car was broken into at a little park in Lane County Oregon called Zumwalt Park. The couple who drove the car were out on a walk with their dogs when this happened, and returned to the car to realize that the passenger side window had been smashed in and the lady's purse had been removed from the vehicle. The couple called the sheriff to inform the local law enforcement of what had happened and the dispatch informed the couple that they would send a deputy out to meet them at their home and report what had happened. So the couple got into the car, the gentlemen driving and the lady in the back with the dogs to keep them from from getting in the passenger seat that was covered in shattered glass.
Lo and behold, when the couple arrived home, their front door was unlocked and slightly ajar. A quick inspection of the inside of the house showed that only two things were missing in the household. Two laptop computers. The thieves who stole her purse from the car had learned her address from her drivers license, and had used the keys that were in her purse to open the door. Again, the couple contacted the sheriffs office, this time to inform them of a burglary. The sheriffs office told them that they would be out to investigate the crime in about an hour.
The lady spent about three hours canceling the credit cards that were in her stolen purse and the gentlemen called the sheriffs again after an hour and a half went by with no deputy, and again after another hour and a half.
It was not until the next day, around noon, that the deputy made it to the residence to take a report of the crime and the damages done. By this time the lady's credit card companies had called to inform her that one of her credit cards had been used to purchase a little over $100 worth of a prepaid phone card online through Verizon. When the lady was made aware of this, she called up Verizon to inform them that the phone card had been purchased with her stolen credit card and that she desired to know who had purchased the phone card.
After confirming that her credit card had indeed been used to purchase a phone card, and after confirming that the card had been reported stolen, Verizon informed the lady that they could not give her any information about the purchaser of the phone card without a name and a phone number despite the fact that the phone card was obviously purchased with her stolen credit card.
A short while later, the credit card company informed the lady that her card had also been used, before she canceled it, at precisely 8:30PM at a Shell gas station near downtown Eugene which has video surveillance. The lady called the Shell station to find out the the video is all digital, is kept on a server in Ohio, and that video is only kept for 30 days before it is erased. She also found out that the request to retrieve the video must come from a law enforcement official. On the following Monday, the couple informed the sheriffs office of the video which could very well have the vehicle and license plate number of the criminals.
To the date of this post, the sheriffs office of Lane County has yet to do squat about retrieving the surveillance video or pressuring Verizon to release any of the information of the criminal who purchased the phone card that was worth over $100.
This is where the major reason of why I have not been online for a while comes in. I am the gentleman of that couple, and my computer was one of the two stolen from our own home. We have been harassing the sheriffs office to do their job, but we would be appreciative to others who might want to call the sheriffs department's dispatch, which is non-emergency, and join in the harassment. The number can be found on the bottom of this page.

As for Verizon, we'd appreciate any harassment towards them that we can get. If you are a customer, please e-mail or call them and let them know how you feel about a company that is so interested in short term profits that it will protect the information of criminals in order to secure the business of criminals. And if you are not a customer, please do it anyways just to harass them a bit.

Influencing our Politicians to further their billion dollar interests isn’t enough for them. Now they are the victims of a Marxist plot. We ordinary,(little) people should be kissing their filthy rich asses and thanking them for polluting the environment, not paying taxes and greatly contributing to making life miserable for the working-class.
Here’s a sample of what they think is so unfair.
Since Obama was inaugurated, the Dow Jones has increased more than 50% -- from 8,000 to more than 12,000; the wealthiest received a massive tax cut; the top marginal tax rate was three times less than during the Eisenhower years and substantially lower than during the Reagan years; income and wealth inequality are so vast and rising that it is easily at Third World levels; meanwhile, "the share of U.S. taxes paid by corporations has fallen from 30 percent of federal revenue in the 1950s to 6.6 percent in 2009." During this same time period, the unemployment rate has increased from 7.7% to 8.9%; millions of Americans have had their homes foreclosed; and the number of Americans living below the poverty line increased by many millions, the largest number since the statistic has been recorded. Can you smell Obama's radical egalitarianism and Marxist anti-business hatred yet?
Where would this Country be without super wealthy, delusional cretins whining about how unfair it all is? Oh, the inhumanity of it all!
If all of us little people pitch in our extra spending money maybe together we can afford buy them each a pair of socks for the Holidays this year. I suggest a note to go along with the packages stating, “Stuff these where the sun doesn’t shine”!

A convicted rapist got off without any jail time last week, when a Canadian judge declared that he’d merely been a “clumsy Don Juan” led on by an “inviting” victim, reports the Winnipeg Free Press. When the man, Kenneth Rhodes, met his eventual victim and another woman outside a bar, they were wearing tube tops, high heels, and lots of makeup, Judge Robert Dewar pointed out, adding, “They made their intentions publicly known that they wanted to party.”
Rhodes, the women, and another man then went into the woods; Rhodes and his victim kissed. When they were alone, he forced himself on her. At his trial, Rhodes pleaded not guilty, saying he thought the woman had consented. Dewar didn’t allow the defense then, but said it was relevant to sentencing. Dewar added that he didn’t mean to blame the victim: “I’m sure whatever signals were sent that sex was in the air were unintentional.”

Domestic abuse victims would be offered free self-defense and firearms training by sheriffs under a measure being considered in the Iowa House.
Advocates said Monday that the issue is about empowering victims.
But others told lawmakers that such a policy would bring about a host of unintended consequences for abuse victims, including an increase in deaths related to domestic violence.
"In theory this bill sounds like it may help domestic abuse victims defend themselves, but in reality we've seen something very different," said Amber Markham, director of public policy for the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence. "Firearms in the home increase the chance of homicide in the home fivefold. Oftentimes the abuser uses the firearm against her."
Deputy Attorney General Eric Tabor also expressed opposition to House File 209, largely because it could drain money from other domestic abuse prevention and victim assistance programs.
Rep. Tom Shaw, R-Laurens, said he shares concerns that the bill would create additional requirements and potential costs for sheriffs and told the House public safety subcommittee he would not support the bill for advancement in the Legislature.
Rep. Mary Wolfe, D-Clinton, also said she would not support the bill, meaning it will most likely die. Rep. Mark Brandenburg, R-Council Bluffs, said he needed more time to study the issue.
Even if the bill is dead for this year, it will most likely be revised and resurrected in coming legislative sessions, said its sponsor, Rep. Matt Windschitl, R-Missouri Valley.
The bill includes a $500 fee to be paid by anyone convicted of domestic assault, which Windschitl said would pay the cost of the classes.
Windschitl, whose family owns a gun shop, compared the issue to empowering a grade school kid bullied by peers.
"Why not take a different course of action and empower those people to be able defend themselves and build their ego back up?" Windschitl asked.

The suspects, including an Islamic cleric, are accused of issuing a fatwa for 14-year-old Mosammet Hena to receive 100 lashes.
A 14-year-old Bangladeshi girl allegedly raped by a much older cousin has died after being publicly flogged for adultery, media reports said.
Hena Begum was sentenced to receive 100 lashes by a village council made up of elders and Muslim clerics in the district of Shariatpur, about 35 miles from the capital, Dhaka, the BBC said today.
She endured about 80 lashes before collapsing Monday, according to The Daily Star, a Bangladeshi newspaper. Her family took her to a hospital, where she died.
"What sort of justice is this? My daughter has been beaten to death in the name of justice. If it had been a proper court then my daughter would not have died," Dorbesh Khan, the girl's father, told the BBC.
Family members said Hena was raped by a 40-year-old married cousin, The Daily Star said. The man's family beat up the teen, then accused of her adultery, the newspaper said.
The very next day, she was sentenced to the flogging in a fatwa, or religious ruling, issued by the village council under Islamic Shariah law, the BBC said.
Her father was also told pay a fine of about $700, police told the BBC.
Four people, including a Muslim cleric, have been arrested in connection with Hena's death, the BBC said. Police said they were looking for another 14 people in the case.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Sadaullah Wazir says he was relaxing in his front yard when the missile struck, hurling him against the wall and mangling his legs so badly that they had to be amputated. Three of his relatives died. Now the 17-year-old and his family want justice from America, which they say was behind the attack.
Detailed accounts by casualties such as Wazir rarely make it outside the tribal regions. He and other tribesmen recently traveled to Islamabad, the capital, to meet with lawyers who are planning to sue the CIA for damages, possibly adding a new layer of scrutiny to the agency's covert war inside Pakistan.
American officials do not acknowledge that war or discuss who is being killed in drone-fired missile attacks on al-Qaida and Taliban targets, which have surged this year to average about two a week. But they have said privately that the strikes are highly precise and harm very few innocents. Some locals agree about their accuracy, especially when compared to bombing runs by Pakistani jets.
