A Roman Catholic priest allegedly seduced a 17-year-old girl while she was a senior at a Catholic high school in Reading into a sexual relationship that resulted in her giving birth at age 19, according to a civil lawsuit filed by her parents in Berks County Court.
According to the lawsuit, the Rev. Luis A. Bonilla Margarito was removed as chaplain of Reading Central Catholic High School and pastor of St. Joseph Church in Reading after the parents secretly video-taped him having sexual intercourse with their daughter in the basement of their home in November.
By then, she had graduated from high school and had turned 18 years old, but the lawsuit alleges the sexual relationship began when she was still in high school. The lawsuit says the parents allowed their daughter to meet with the priest for counseling because she had severe mental health issues as a result of prior sexual abuse by another adult male. She also suffered from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, the suit said.
The Allentown Diocese announced Bonilla was removed as priest of St. Joseph's in November because he had a relationship with an 18-year-old woman. At the time, the church did not disclose how they became aware the priest had broken his vow of celibacy. A church spokesman said Bonilla would be sent to a treatment facility and no criminal charges were pending.

Harriet Carter, 21-year-old Lawrence Co. woman, has been indicted for allegedly raping a 13-year-old boy and faces counts of rape and sodomy.
According to investigators, Carter had agreed to baby sit some boys for a friend back on June 5th. Carter allegedly performed oral sex acts on a 13-year-old male, and later engaged in full sexual intercourse with him. After boy's mother learned about the incident she contacted police. During the investigation, detectives came to believe that the two had engaged in sex acts before the June 5th incident - at least once Carter had performed oral sex on the boy during a visit several days earlier.

Patti Kaye Holdship, 42-year-old woman from Cadillac, Michigan,has been accused of multiple counts of child sex abuse and possession of child pornography involving two boys, ages 15 and 16.
The charges involving the 16-year-old span from January 1 to February 5 2010 in Missaukee County and the 10 counts involving the 15-year-old span from around June 2008 to March 2009. All in all she isr facing 27 counts for manufacturing, distributing and possessing child pornography. Holdship was arraigned this week in Missaukee District Court on the felony charges. A judge ordered her held on a $50,000 bond and ruled that she is to have no contact with minors
The allegations came to light last spring when the parents of the 16-year-old approached police with information that Holdship had had sexual contact with their son.

I've covered Canadian psychology hijinks before, and how a handful of them are leading the push to expand which sexual interests are mental illnesses(http://boingboing.net/2010/01/08/you-will-become-ment.html).
Now comes another scandal that's like something out of Clockwork Orange.
Late last month, Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services in Burnaby, British Columbia was forced to shut down a decades-old program where troubled youths had a device placed on their penises while they were subjected to media depicting stuff like rape and child pornography. The final straw was when one of the test administrators was arrested for a sexual assault allegedly committed during leisure time.
The whole sordid story follows.
Canada has had a long, hard fixation with catching people getting aroused over things Canadian "experts" consider mental illnesses. One program in the mid-20th century, nicknamed the "fruit machine(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruit_machine_(homosexuality_test))," led to over 9,000 Canadian citizens being investigated as suspected homosexuals, with some even being tested and drummed out of government jobs.
In the wake of the fruit machine program, the fine folks at Toronto's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health(http://boingboing.net/2010/01/07/toronto-global-epice.html) developed and still promote penile plethysmography (PPG). The device, nicknamed a peter meter, is supposedly a lie detector for male genitalia. It's not admissible in court cases as evidence(http://www.smith-lawfirm.com/Scientific_Evidence_Brief.html) for the same reason as a polygraph: the data can be manipulated by both subject and tester, and there's little standardization in equipment or stimuli.
Because the whole concept is based on the premise that the subject is a "non-admitter" who needs to be caught, sometimes they jam another sensor up the subject's butt to ensure he is not clenching his sphincter to alter the blood flow into his penis. Males in general and teenage boys in particular can get spontaneous erections for any number of reasons that may or may not be related to the stimulus presented. They might even chub up just because of the test itself (the stress, touching, humiliation, etc.).
According to those who learned how to game the device, it's also pretty easy for other subjects to suppress tumescence by thinking of something decidedly unsexy. In case you are wondering, they've also created one for young ladies that gets inserted in the vagina, but the testers are much, much, much more interested in teen peen.
PPG evangelists have fanned across North America, using their device in all kinds of questionable ways for decades. Then a 2009 article, ironically published in the journal Sexual Abuse, reported on the long-running practice of hooking up penile plethysmographs to minors charged with sex offenses in British Columbia. That got the attention of civil rights groups. The sexual assault arrest of one of the testers was the last straw for local lawmakers, who finally pulled the plug on the abusive plethysmograph for kids program.
The current guy in charge of Sexual Abuse(http://www.camh.net/research/scientific_Staff_profiles/bio_detail.php?cuserID=51) is, unsurprisingly, a CAMH employee, so he is a huge proponent of penile plethysmography. In fact, you can often find him on Wikipedia altering articles on sexuality(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/James_Cantor) to promote theories and devices his coworkers developed via the CAMH Phallometry Lab(http://www.camh.net/About_CAMH/Guide_to_CAMH/Mental_Health_Programs/The_Law_and_Mental_Health_Program/guide_specialty_clinics.html) (an actual tax-funded Toronto lab). Anyone interested in measuring penises should consider an internship or even a career as a Canadian psychologist. Perhaps you can even be part of history by developing the next-gen fruit machine or peter meter...

Hello well i am taking the First Step by posting this to everyone i know and here is what i will offer in return for those of you who want to be apart of this.
As most of you know there is a lot of street kids in chicago and most of them are under the age of 17 its very disturbing to me in several aspects since the biggest reason kids and teens are kicked out is because they come out to there parents as gay or lesbian or bisexual or trans. Police say a New Hampshire teen was so furious with her mother she tainted her Kool-Aid with Lysol after an argument!
According to reports, 17-year-old Brittany Merrill was arrested on Monday on a misdemeanor count of reckless conduct after she poisoned her mother’s Kool-Aid with a household disinfectant as a revenge act stemming from a dispute they had two days ago.
Police say the victim’s throat began to burn after she consumed the drink and could detect a chemical odor. She called 911 for help, but when emergency authorities arrived she refused to be hospitalized.
The defendant has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and her mother obtained a no-contact order, barring her daughter from returning home. But she does say that she’s willing to let her daughter back once she receives treatment for mental health woes.

A study by the University of Michigan suggests that teen same-sex relationships boost self esteem and lower internalised homophobia.
Opposite-sex relationships were not found to have the same effect.
Jose Bauermeister, assistant professor at the University's School of Public Health claims: "Dating in adolescence is critical to developing sexual and social identities.
"It's even more salient for gay, lesbian and bisexual youth because there is such a stigma attached to their sexual orientation," he continued.
Researchers worked with 350 gay, lesbian or bisexual teenagers from three New York-based queer drop-in centers, assessing over two years symptoms of depression and anxiety in the participants.
Titled "Relationship trajectories and psychological well-being among sexual minority youth," the paper will appear in the August edition of journal Youth and Adolescence.
Bauermeister, the overseer of the SOPH Sexuality and Health Lab, added: "Studies have shown that these teens may suffer more psychological distress, victimisation, physical threats and violence than heterosexual youth.
"Gay, lesbian and bisexual teens who conceal their sexuality, often have a lower self-image or internalised sense of homophobia - which can lead to depression and anxiety."
"I actually expected to see more associations between psychological distress and having an opposite-sex partner. But there was no association with self-esteem, depression or anxiety. The literature seems to suggest that creating a bond with a partner may be protective. On saturday Me and Kenneth went to the Chicago Police Department and he turned himself back into state custody since he was wanted on missingkids.com and also as well a runaway from the Chicago Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), also he was only 15 years old.
Now there was nothing me and my partner could really do to help him in the long run for now until we speak to his caseworker on monday and also i am going to meet with a foster care and adoption lawyer on tuesday. I was thinking if he is going to keep running away from group homes and shelters why not just get guardianship of him and me and my partner can take care of him instead. Since i know kenneth (Kenny) from the streets in my area of town if he ever runs again he will just run back to the area here and well there is probably a 100% chance he will end up back at our place. I thought he was just a teen homeless person before doing research on him on the internet and found out the Missing Kids Poster and also as well talking to kenny about his whole ordeal the next day it was in our best interest to try and get him back into state custody.
Sure it sucks since the shelters are not really all that great, everyone is treated like a ID number and a Source of Revenue for the state of illinois based on how many kids they got into the system or in different group homes across the city it is sort of depressing in all aspects of the situation. I was homeless at 1 time myself but i was not a runaway and well i was almost a legal adult anyways so my circumstance is a bit different then his but he is just younger.
He was getting bullied and messed with by other people either older then him or around his age and he did not want to be in that type of environment so that is why he always ran away he told me and also he is not in the greatest part of town i must admit a lot of gangs, drug dealers and other interesting things happen over on 50th st and michigan ave in chicago.
Also due to his lifestyle (he is a gay teen) that does not help him in some of these group homes or shelters that have people who might be against GLBT Youth who are homeless in the system as well. From what i have gathered he has been in state custody for about 7 years now with a short break around age 14 when he lived with his sister and she was going to move to colorado and gave him back up to DCFS Custody, also found out she never moved so it was mostly just a drop off to state custody, i must admit very sad your own family member would do that to you. But like everything you hear there is always parts of the story that is left out so there might be some things even kenny has not told me and i will find out later in time.
I had Met Kenneth (Kenny) walking around my area of town around 3am a few months ago and he was just wondering spaced out looking so i known right off the bat he was homeless since he was hanging out with some regular street people i have seen many times in the area. So i bought him food pretty much everytime i seen him and hung out with him on the streets until i got tired enough to go home but never invited him over to our place. I have known kenny for about 3 months now and the other day i seen him during the daytime on Thursday and it was a very HOT day so i invited him over to relax and eat some food and watch some movies or play some video games. So he came over had a nice meal, he was able to get his clothed washed he had a nice shower, and played video games ALL day and watched a few movies, so the time was getting to be around 10pm so i just told him to sleep on our couch. So i started doing some online research on kenneth and found the missing person poster and contacted missing kids to let them know he is safe and fine and i would be talking to him about turning himself back into the state. so by Saturday we went down and took care of business and i am just stressed out since i have to wait until later today to find out how he is doing.This is a update from my previous Thread... more

I sent a email to a Adoption and Foster Care Lawyer in Chicago over the weekend and she wants to meet with me on Tuesday to Discuss Kenny and also i guess she wants to help me since i asked her in the email if she could do the work pro-bono i hope she is a caring person who can help me get custody of kenny or something so he wont be a ward of the state or homeless on the streets.

FIRST POSTING BELOW.
You know i have been trying to figure out how to word this statement or note for the past couple days and i feel i am mentally secure to do so now. There is a person we will call Kenny he is a 15 year old ward of the state and he has been in the foster care system since he was 7 . He was living with his sister for a short time during this and he was given up to the state of illinois when he turned 14 and they placed him into a group home in the suburbs. Well from what i have gathered he was mistreated in this group home and bullied and a few other things so he ran away from the group home, now since technically they cannot restrain him from leaving he left on his own will and they let him go. So also him being gay he comes to the neighborhood most at risk teens and young adults come to and that is lakeview or otherwise known as boystown. Now beyond your random drug dealers, drag queens and total mischief you have 1 more thing in this area and that is teen escorts (that is where it does not sit right with me to well) in all sorts of levels.
I normally walk around my area of town from 12 midnight to 3am sometimes when i want to get out of the house and i am bored from being on my computer and i tend to meet a lot of people who are regulars in the area, if you really look at it chicago is not all that big especially when you see the same people hanging around day in and day out. I usually had stopped by this gathering at halsted and belmont ave with the Night Ministry they feed the homeless and they are really cool people i have know them for years in the area and i know most of the staff. That is where i met Kenny i known off the bat i wanted to try my best to help him in all aspects but i really was not sure what i could do.
So it started out with dinner, and then i had him come over and he was able to relax and play video game ALL Day and watch movies on demand and do his cloths (laundry) and also eat a nice meal and get a good nights sleep and he was able to take a nice shower in privacy. Now as for me i do not really sleep since my bullshit case of insomnia and i must admit watching him sleep on the couch was like watching the most peaceful thing on earth, he looked so safe, secure and content it was unreal. I was able to give him a "day off" from the streets and give him a nice place to sleep at at least 1 or 2 nights as i was trying to talk to him about turning himself in and go back into the system so he could be professionally taken care of and hopefully put into a better environment (better shelter) and off the streets (i know at 15 i would have been calling the police on speed dial saying come pick my ass up and take me off these streets).
So me being curious i started doing some research on kenny and found out he was wanted on missingkids.com and he was AWOL from the Illinois Ward System (yeah fun times). He does not do drugs or anything like that and he was not wanted on any criminal related issues just wanted since he ran away from a city or government ran facility. So i had called missing kids and told them i know him and he was doing ok but i would not give anyone "my home address" since i do not want to be on the next episode of cops since i have done nothing wrong that would totally feel awkward having 10 police cars outside and 1 kid in handcuffs being hauled off. (yeah that does not sit right with me either).
So after talking to him and weighing my options in regards to not getting in trouble Harboring a Run Away so to speak, i started calling everyone to inform them that kenny will be turning himself into the state custody in the morning i had to call several state offices and a couple national offices (center for missing and exploited children) and tell them as well what was going on. I must admit i was a bit nervous talking to the local precinct since i did not want them to come over and put handcuffs on him and haul him off to jail like a criminal since he is not. So i just told them that would there be a easier way to do this beyond that method so they gave me some referrals and i talked to the Center on Halsted and also a few other phone numbers and they were really glad to hear kenny was safe and fine.
You as a normal citizen cannot really help anyone under the age of 17 i think or you are looked at as either Harboring a Runaway or you are trying to do something bad to the person there is no safeguard for you helping someone during a time of need. But i told myself during all this IF i go to JAIL for helping someone i would not mind going to jail since in my heart i have done what was right and i would rather see him inside a nice home rather then sleeping at a bus stop, at lake michigan or some random "tricks" house who just want his body.
Sure he is going to have a lot of adjustments to worry about being back into state custody but i think for the long run he will be "just fine" unless he does that whole running away thing again and totally put himself back into the same situation, hopefully he will stick thru it and he will ALWAYS have a friend and someone who cares about him once he turns legal age or well age of emancipation. I am suppost to call his caseworker on monday and talk to her and possibly they will allow me and my partner to visit Kenny in whatever group home they send him to and be able to keep in contact with him. I do understand to some degree that might not be the case since he is a minor and we are not "family" or related to him in any aspect but i do think once you get to know someone and try to help them technically you have became family and that should be allowed. when i was young i was homeless for a short time in my life as well total different circumstances i was not a runaway i was just homeless and i had people who helped me and wanted nothing in return and well i feel in my own aspect i am paying it forward helping someone else.The Person i helped Get Off the Streets... more

American Idol producers have lowered the age limit for contestants to audition from 16 to 15, it has been announced.
"A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16," said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, executive producer of the show.
Meanwhile, a replacement for judge Simon Cowell, who left in May, has still not been announced.
Auditions for the tenth series begin on 17 July and will visit six US cities.

Seventeen percent of sexually active teenage girls said they used the rhythm method as a means of birth control in 2008, up from just 11% in 2002, according to the latest report from the CDC. For most of these girls “rhythm method” means guessing the least risky day to have unprotected sex. You and I both know that one in five teenage girls isn’t taking her temperature every day and charting the consistency of her cervical mucus on the calendar.
Not so ab-fab
Amanda Marcotte of RH Reality Check blames abstinence-only propaganda for the trend. She points out that abstinence-based curricula rely heavily on shame to discourage kids from having sex. Teens who are ashamed don’t necessarily abstain, but they are less likely to use birth control when they do have sex. Claiming to use the rhythm method is an excuse not to use real birth control. Marcotte points out that abstinence-only curricula also promotes stereotypes of female passivity and male dominance, which makes it even harder for girls to negotiate condom use.
There is a glimmer of hope, Robin Marty of RH Reality Check reports that the Obama administration is shifting gears on sex ed. For the first time in many years, school districts will be eligible for federal funds to teach evidence-based, comprehensive sex ed. Abstinence-only funding hasn’t gone away, but at least districts will have the option.
Recession-based bedroom blues
Interestingly, teens are having slightly less sex overall, according to the CDC. The abstinence-only crowd is trying to take credit, but as Stephanie Mencimer of Mother Jones notes, the recession seems to be putting a damper on the sex lives Americans of all ages. The latest sex survey by the AARP showed that Americans over 45 are having less sex than they were in 2004 and enjoying it less as well.
Looking at the same study, Wendy Strgar of Care2 notes that that teen motherhood has become much more socially acceptable among adolescents, perhaps due to highly publicized teen moms like Bristol Palin and Jamie Spears.
The war on choice
Michelle Chen of RaceWire reports that hundreds of anti-choice bills have been introduced in state legislatures around the country since the passage of national health care reform. Missouri’s new Abortion Restriction Act requires abortion clinics to post signs offering state assistance if she has the baby. Too bad the Missouri legislature slashed the funds that would have provided most of those services.
Two moms = healthy kids
In other health news, a new study forthcoming in the journal Pediatrics shows that lesbian couples raise healthier children than straight couples. Gabriel Arana of TAPPED suggests that maybe lesbians do better on average because they are a self-selected group of highly motivated parents that had to overcome obstacles in order to raise their kids. Or maybe two moms are better than one.
As Arana notes, the politically important thing about this study is the finding that same-sex parents are doing at least as well as opposite sex parents. Conservatives opposed to gay rights have often justified second-class citizenship for gays in terms of protecting children from allegedly harmful same-sex parents. Now, science is showing that same-sex families are at least as healthy as more traditional family units.

The Associated Press is reporting that a U.S. Border Patrol agent shot and killed Sergio Adrián Hernández Huereca, a 14-year-old boy on the U.S. side of the Paso Del Norte bridge in El Paso, Texas. According to the FBI, border patrol agents were assaulted by rock throwers across the border in Mexico. T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, believes the use of “deadly force” was a justified response. “It is a deadly force encounter,” Bonner told the Associated Press. “One that justifies the use of deadly force.”
Despite the border patrol agent’s undeniable “deadly use of force,” reports confirm that he was not injured and it still is not known whether Hernández Huereca was directly involved in the alleged rock throwing.

Episode 2.7 - "Girlfriend?": Sarah, Maggie, Yasmine, and Hunter have a girl sesh in the kitchen - lots of OMGs and spoonfuls of yoghurt to help the gossip go down - and a revelation about one Mr. Adrian surfaces. Everything is quite delightful until Gwen calls the house looking for Sarah; everyone's confused and Sarah stumbles out after she stumbles over her explanation for leaving. No one seems too phased tho' since Maggie and Yasmine have some drama for drama queen Rox... and it's something she won't be pleased about.
