Most people associate world globes with geography classes or boring teachers’ offices. We have pop culture to thank for that. In 80′s and 90′s TV shows, globes could be found lurking in the corners of many a fictitious teacher’s office–far more than actually existed in reality. But globes are no longer as boring as they used to be thanks to artist Wendy Gold. Wendy runs a company called ImagineNationsTM where she makes vintage globes of all varieties.
She even accepts orders for custom globes. Wendy has created many types of globes, including rainbow globes, superhero globes, Bon Voyage globes, and of course, creepy monster globes. Each globe has its own personality, and some of the globes are so decorated that you can’t actually see the map underneath. Others are so pimped out that they scare the living daylights out of children and small animals.

I reported earlier on a tripartite agreement which took place a couple of days ago as an aside to the UN General Assembly meeting between Secretary of State Clinton, French Minister of Foreign Affairs Kouchner and Haitian prime minister Jean Max Bellerive to rebuild a major hospital in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince.
The rebuilding and reconstitution of the island nation may take years. In the meantime, those that survived the calamitous January 2010 earthquake are eking out a living.
