Oh my goodness, I certainly didn't expect to see something like this today! The first words that came to mind when I saw this macabre scene were that it's very creepy, but at the same time so oddly cool. It must be some place in Paris, down deep in the dark Catacombs there. I wonder if my bones will have that rich color? Will my skull's eyes have that show of wisdom? Or will both my bones and eye sockets be blank?
Hate to say this, it sounds weirdly irreverent, but the longer I look at these skulls and bones in the low light, they start to look like coffee beans! We've all heard lots about Google's Street View, but a similar project is taking place beneath the streets of Rome. A team of European archaeologists, architects and computer scientists have been mapping in 3D the largest catacomb, Saint Domitilla, using laser scanners.
