Producer Swizz Beatz said fans should expect the unexpected from his work on Drake's upcoming Thank Me Later album. Beatz also touched on the Young Money artist's desire to record original music with him.
"The collaboration with me and Drake, expect the unexpected," Beatz said in an interview. "It's not something you can predict. Both of the joints are not something that you can predict. It's like a very unique combination and he's a very unique artist so it's like when you get somebody that's open-minded, they don't want something that I already did or compare it to something that I already have on the radio which made it a very clear lane for me and Drake to collaborate the records that we did. The features on the track? It's crazy. You're gonna be like, 'What? Who? When? Why? How?'" (Rap-Up)
Drake has also talked about the importance of his "Over" single.
"Initially it was a warm-up record," he added of "Over." "I love the song. I love the message in the song. It's funny, because 'Over' is the fourth song on the album and it's the turning point in the album. It's like, you get three songs of me sort of trying to paint the picture of what the last year has been like for me -- trying to fill you in, almost let you into my world as much as I can. 'Over' is that moment where you're almost worried on the album. 'Is this kid about to ... ? What's happening? Is he changing?' I wanted that to come out first. I wanted people to be a little nervous. This whole journey could have changed me drastically. Fortunately I'm able to step out of my shoes and reflect on it and give you some great music. 'Over' is a great alter-ego moment. It's the dark side of things and I really wanted that to come out first." (MTV)
Drake's duet with The-Dream leaked online last month.
A new song by Drake featuring The-Dream is leaked. Titled "Shut It Down", the piece is produced by Noah "40" Shebib and Omen who also co-produced Alicia Keys' duet track with Drake, "Un-thinkable (I'm Ready)". The slow-jam song is reportedly not the final version but has been confirmed to be listed in the Canadian rapper's debut album "Thank Me Later". (Ace Show Biz)
His debut album is set to be released in June.
You'll now have to thank Drake a few weeks later than expected. The 23 year-old Canadian rapper/singer's long-awaited debut album, Thank Me Later, is now due to be released on June 15. (Neon Limelight)Producer Swizz Beatz said fans should expect the unexpected from his work on... more

"I just came from the studio working on Busta's new album, his album's crazy," Swizz revealed in an interview. "[Working on] Drake's new album, a lot of people, everybody. As far as Nicki Minaj, she's definitely on the list for me to give something crazy to. Whenever she's ready, I mean, the whole Cash Money is family, the whole Young Money is family. I've known Lil Wayne since he was like really little Wayne. We was on tours together. Me and Baby, we are super cool. Whatever they need from me." (Rap-Up TV)
Last month, Minaj hinted at the possibility of having Kanye West and Swizz Beatz produce on her Young Money debut.
"I'm probably definitely going to work with Kanye," she revealed in an interview. "On my debut, I worked with Sean Garrett. And probably Swizz Beatz, he's gonna send me something. I like to work with unknown producers as well, so I accept beats from everybody." (Rap-Up)
Earlier this year, the rapper talked about not rushing out her first solo effort.
"I've gotten great feedback from artists I look up to and never thought I'd work with," she explained in an interview. "They're already in line to be on the project. But it's like, 'Do I want to put out a debut album with a thousand features on it or do I wanna finally showcase Nicki?' I'm not worried about features at all...With the album, I think it's more important that people get accustomed to seeing a female rapper again. Before I drop an album, people need to come out and see. People don't even know what a female rapper does. We're so not used to seeing it. It's nonexistent in categories. We don't get nominated. I need to work [the people] up to accepting a female rapper again and accepting my style and all of that -- then the album will come. Honestly, I'd love to put an album out this year, but I don't believe in rushing things either." (MTV)
In December, she said there was an intention to drop a "classic" debut.
"The [album], that's what I'm actually getting ready to work on because I've been on the road for such a long time, I'm taking a complete hiatus for the next couple months, unfortunately, for all the promoters giving crazy offers," Minaj told DJ Whoo Kid. "And I've been turning every one because I have to put my foot down for the next few months and deliver a classic album and I already have stuff and I can't wait for the world to hear. All the stuff we talk about is fun and games and all that but the music is what's most important and I don't want all the people to be distracted by the other stuff and so I'm gonna take a break and when I come back you guys will have some very, very great music." (Radio Planet TV)"I just came from the studio working on Busta's new album, his album's... more
