In the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting and the ensuing media circus, a new beast has reared its ugly head – this time in the form of media disinformation and race-baiting reports threatening to propel America in the direction of a new race war.
On Saturday April 7th, journalist Michael Miller’s Miami New Times blog clumsily ran with a report entitled,“Armed Neo-Nazis Now Patrolling Sanford, Say They Are “Prepared” for Post-Trayvon Martin”.
The Miami New Times report claims that National Socialist Movement’s mascot, Jeff Schoep, dubbed “The Hollywood Nazi” because of his adherence to TV stereotypes, is leading armed Neo-Nazi patrols of Sanford, Florida to protect white residents from black violence. But there’s only one problem – it isn’t actually happening
Infowars.com contacted the Sanford Police Department on Sunday, looking for confirmation on the Miami News Times story, but according to the department’s office of public information, “We can confirm there have been no reports of any Neo-Nazi, or armed Neo-Nazi patrols in Sanford.”
The Miami New Times have since updated their article to retract their earlier reports of armed Neo-Nazi patrols in Sanford.
Where there are racial extremists, expect to find the Southern Poverty Law Center(SLPC) nearby. In this instance, the SPLC seemed to be perfectly synchronized with the release of the Miami New Times claims, running their own story touting this latest news, warning Florida residents that:
“The neo-Nazi, National Socialist Movement (NSM) has announced that it will be conducting patrols in Seminole County, Fla., to protect “local citizens from the area who are concerned for the safety of their families.” The group says it is prepared for “racial violence” in the Sanford area, where the Martin shooting occurred, and that is has been “contacted by dozens of local citizens” supposedly seeking protection…In the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting and the ensuing media circus, a new beast... more

War doesn’t victimize truth, the overseas press corps does. The assault on Libya is real, but the coverage is an invention. Facts about the NATO assault get in the way of elaborate fictions. “The bombing of a university in Tripoli, Libya ought to create a sensation, but that information never makes it onto the front pages.”
The corporate media continue to follow the dictates of people in power, ignoring their obligation to report factual information in as unbiased a way as possible. Instead they behave like scribes in a royal court, dutifully repeating the words of the king in hopes of currying favor and gaining access. Their shameless behavior is on view yet again as another president with imperial aspirations tells obvious lies in order to gain support for wars of aggression.
At the urging of the United States government and NATO, the International Criminal Court has piled on its anti-Muammar Qaddafi rhetoric. One prosecutor even claims that Qaddafi is giving his troops Viagra and using rape as a weapon of war. He has done so without presenting any evidence and even worse, the American media are repeating the assertions without investigation of any kind.
When George W. Bush made the case for invading Iraq, he too used rape as a rhetorical weapon of war, claiming that Saddam Hussein had “rape rooms” in his palaces that were used to assault dissidents. In 2003 as in 2011, the claim was reported without evidence.
If a president lies about his reasons for killing people, the lie is never exposed. Sometimes the media are so eager for the story which won’t upset the powerful, that they will extend the parameters of their falsehoods.
Such was the case with “Amina,” a Syrian blogger and lesbian who wrote critically about the regime of President Assad. The blog “A Gay Girl in Damascus” was followed by incredulous people all over the world, but it turned out that Amina never existed. The blog and Amina were the creations of a heterosexual American man living in Scotland who wanted to hasten the end of Assad’s days in power. When the non-existent Amina was reported missing, an alleged kidnap victim of the Syrian police, even the state department grew alarmed and made inquiries as to her safety.
The hypocrisy manifested on the part of the United States government is quite stunning. While denying or minimizing the loss of lives caused by its actions in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Haiti and on the part of any of its allies, the government was willing to use its power to ensure the safety of one person in Syria.War doesn’t victimize truth, the overseas press corps does. And Current sadly falls into this trap too. Keith Olbermann did the same thing in his Worst Persons segment, and we still see posts about her stupid bus tour to nowhere. I too say, enough already! I never understood how people can go on and on about Fox News and these a**es then do nothing but post and talk about them ad nauseum thus giving them more attention. There are so many important things happening and they get no coverage. I truly dread political campaign seasons in this country. And Current sadly falls into this trap too. Talk show host Rush Limbaugh says that, if he were President Barack Obama, he would not want to face a staunch conservative such as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin because she carries a frightening message — that he is beatable. Limbaugh also said on Fox News Thursday night that the GOP establishment fears Palin as well.
Fox News’ Greta van Susteren asked Limbaugh whether Palin’s announced bus trip marks the beginning of her presidential campaign.
“I think this bus trip — it’s certainly designed to get people speculating that she’s in,” Limbaugh said. “The thing about Sarah Palin to me is that she has now learned to relish and to profit from all the attention — negative or positive — and she certainly knows negative attention.
“She has suffered slings and arrows — she’s had the media . . . exam — unlike any other Republican candidate,” he said. “And I think she has now come to grips with the fact that that’s part and parcel of the process. And I think one of the things that she enjoys is just rubbing it right back in their face. She knows that they are trying to intimidate her into silence.
Limbaugh said Palin is mastering the things she will have to master if she decides to run. Results of the most recent Gallup Poll that showed her only two points behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney “shocked me” — especially since she still hasn’t made a decision, he said. http://www.kiowacountysignal.com/opinions/x1293696267/Rush-Limbaugh-GOP-and-Dems-Both-Fear-PalinTalk show host Rush Limbaugh says that, if he were President Barack Obama, he would... more

“Should we accept everything they say as true? Probably not.” Those are the words of CNN Pentagon Correspondent Chris Lawrence, talking about the accounts of Guantánamo Bay (Gitmo) detainees, in documents released by WikiLeaks starting on April 24. The documents contain startling amounts of intelligence about failed or rejected al-Qaida plots. So why does Lawrence tell us not to take every word at face value?
Because it’s all probably bunk, made up to avoid torture.
“The documents draw on the testimony of witnesses — in most cases, the prisoners’ fellow prisoners — whose words are unreliable, either because they were subjected to torture or other forms of coercion (sometimes not in Guantánamo, but in secret prisons run by the CIA), or because they provided false statements to secure better treatment in Guantánamo,” WikiLeaks said.
So why would CNN (and plenty of other mainstream news outlets) run this story? Because Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the self-proclaimed “mastermind” behind the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, is one of the prisoners mentioned in the documents.
Mohammed claimed there were plans to attack the “tallest building in California” (and Washington state), destroy the Brooklyn bridge and blow up gas stations.
There was even a plot involving the use of Sega game cartridges as remote-controlled firing devices. I guess they don’t have the Wii in Afghanistan.
The release of all these documents — many of which refer to terror threats the Department of Homeland Security claims to have already handled — serves an interesting dual purpose.
On the one hand, the good guys caught the bad guys, and aren’t we so lucky that the government stopped so many terrorist plots? Isn’t it wonderful knowing we’re safe? Maybe we don’t need all those Constitutional rights after all.
But hold on — if these are the terrorists they caught, what about all those bad guys who are still out there?! We killed their boss; the terrorists are going to be really mad now. We need to pay these higher taxes — the Government needs more of my money to keep me safe.
George Orwell was right: “When memory failed and written records were falsified — when that happened, the claim of the Party to have improved the conditions of human life had got to be accepted, because there did not exist, and never again could exist, any standard against which it could be tested.”

Anderson Cooper called out Sean Hannity for editing a clip of him in a misleading way.
Speaking on his Monday show, Cooper stressed that he didn't want to start a "cheesy cable news feud," but simply wanted to correct a clip Hannity had shown in a special on liberal media bias that had been edited in what he called a "completely misleading way."
In the clip from Hannity's show, Cooper is shown calling the attacks on Joseph Wilson, the former Bush administration ambassador who set off the Valerie Plame scandal, "a victim of a Bush administration smear campaign." However, as Cooper showed, the clip had begun in the middle of a sentence. Cooper was actually saying that Wilson was claiming to be a victim of a smear campaign, not stating his own personal opinion.
"I try to choose my words very carefully and I don't like it when someone cuts around them to make it seem like I'm saying something I'm not," he said, adding that he hoped Hannity did not "knowingly, falsely edit something to make a point. After all, that would be biased."Anderson Cooper called out Sean Hannity for editing a clip of him in a misleading way.... more

A damning new study conducted by German scientists has found that so-called energy saving light bulbs contain poisonous carcinogens that could cause cancer and should be “kept as far away as possible from the human environment,” but Americans will be forced to replace their traditional light bulbs with toxic CFLs ahead of a government ban set to take effect at the start of next year.
“German scientists claimed that several carcinogenic chemicals and toxins were released when the environmentally-friendly compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) were switched on, including phenol, naphthalene and styrene,” reports the London Telegraph.
The study, conducted by Peter Braun at the Berlin’s Alab Laboratory, led the scientists involved to warn that the bulbs should only be used sparingly, in areas with good ventilation, and “definitely not in the proximity of the head,” due to the danger of the electrical smog the bulbs generate impacting human health.
That’s going to cause difficulties for Americans who will be forced to buy the bulbs following a government ban on traditional incandescent lighting that comes into effect on January 1, 2012.
A 2007 bill signed in to law by President George W. Bush mandates that, “Manufacturers will no longer be able to make the 100-watt Thomas Edison bulb after Jan. 1, 2012, followed by the 75-watt version in Jan. 2013, and the the 60- and 40-watt bulbs in Jan. 2014.”
The legislation mirrors similar laws in Europe, where incandescent bulbs began to be phased out in 2009. The EU also plans to ban halogen bulbs by 2016, forcing people to use compact fluorescent lamps, or CFLs, which produce a poor quality of light with an attendant flicker affect that causes many people to become dizzy and ill.
Ron Paul is amongst those leading a charge in Congress to repeal the draconian state phase out of Thomas Edison’s iconic invention. The Freedom Action group has also launched a national campaign to repeal the ban. Last week, the South Carolina House passed a bill overturning the ban and similar legislation is in the works in Texas, Georgia and Minnesota.
Forcing Americans to buy CFL bulbs that are harmful to their health and the environment is completely unconstitutional. Indeed, in a similar vein to forcing Americans to buy mandatory health insurance under Obamacare, it’s a clear violation of the Commerce Clause.
The so-called “dirty energy” emitted by CFLs produces radiation that has been linked with migraine headaches, sleep abnormalities, fatigue, and other health defects.
The new German study adds to concerns raised by separate research conducted by Abraham Haim, a professor of biology at Haifa University in Israel, who found that the light emitted by CFL’s increased the chance of women getting breast cancer by disrupting the body’s production of the hormone melatonin.
CFLs are also more harmful to the environment because they are filled with toxic mercury that contaminates the environment when the bulbs reach the landfill.
“A report released in 2008 from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection revealed that when a CFL bulb is broken, it can release dangerously high levels of mercury into the air,” writes Ethan Huff.
